3.  The day begins
December 8 to feed

4.  Un tronco que, al quemar, daba bienes tan preciosos como el
calor y la luz, y que de forma simbólica ofrecía presentes a los
de la casa: golosinas, barquillos, turrones. Aún podemos
encontrar, en los pueblos, casas en las que el "tió" es un gran
tronco que se pone a quemar en el fuego de tierra unos días
antes de Navidad.
 A partir de ésta forma más primitiva el "tió" evoluciona: El "tió" es
un tronco mágico que un día cercano a la víspera de Navidad, el
24 de diciembre, llega a casa llamando a la puerta. Quien esté en
casa le abre y hay que cuidarle, taparle con una manta para que
no pase frío y darle de comer hasta el dia 24 por la noche,
momento en que se "caga el Tió". Posteriormente, como en las
ciudades la gente lo tenía más difícil para adquirir un tronco, y
porque de todo se puede hacer negocio, se empezaron a vender
"Tions". Todos los que se venden son mas o menos iguales:
suelen llevar una barretina, tienen una cara sonriente y muy a
menudo también dos patas delanteras. Originariamente, ninguno
era igual porque simplemente era un tronco grande al que un
adulto le pintaba una cara como quería.

7.  Heat milk with cinnamon
 1 liter of milk and lemon rind
 4 egg yolks  Beat the yolks with the
 2 tablespoons sugar and cornstarch
cornstarch  Pour the milk over the
 Cinnamon yolks while bats
 lemon peel  Put the mixture into the
 200 g. sugar fire, without boiling, until
thickened
 distribute it in clay pots
