COMUNICATION
SKILLS
Spoken Word Visual Images
Written Word Body Language
What are the most common ways we communicate?
Supervisors’ communication skills are important for their own
careers. Supervisors are accountable for certain performance
standards. including the ability to communicate well with
employees, colleagues and managers. Promotions are often more
available to supervisors who have good verbal and written
communication skills and the ability to develop positive
relationships with others in the workplace.
Absenteeism Forecasting
Absenteeism is an employee's intentional or habitual absence
from work . Employee absenteeism is one of the most common
problems facing employers in today’s workplace.
A day off from work is anything but a free
day. Absences carry hidden costs that can
affect an organization’s productivity and
revenue, Here are four ways to reduce the
cost of employee absences
1.Track employee absences
2.Change employee behavior
through wellness programs.
3.Help employees return to work.
4.Reduce workplace stress.
1-Schedules absenteeism
Employee provide 48 hours advance notice and
have some flexibility in scheduling their
absences.
2-Announce Absences
The employee provide 12 hours notice when
he/she must be absent.
3-Unscheduled Absences
The employee call prior to the beginning of
the shift indicating he/she will be absent.
4-No show or AWOL
The employee doesn’t inform supervisor that
he/she will be absent
There are 4 types of Absenteeism

Time Management
Time management is the process
of planning &exercising conscious control of
time spent on specific activities, especially to
increase effectiveness, efficiency,
and productivity.
A technique that has been used in business management for a
long time is the categorization of large data into groups. These
groups are often marked A, B, and C,D hence the name.
Activities are ranked by these general criteria:
A – Tasks that are perceived as being urgent and important,
DO
B – Tasks that are important but not urgent, Delegate
C – Tasks that are unimportant but urgent, Delay
D - Tasks that are unimportant and not urgent. Delete
ABCD analysis Or 4D Formula
It seems that there is
never enough time in
the day. But, since we
all get the same 24
hours, why is it that
some people achieve
so much more with
their time than
others? The answer
lies in good time
management.
Better morale
Lower absenteeism
Less employee
burnout
Greater productivity
The Benefits of Time management for a
company
Time
StudyHOW TO TAKE TIME & FIND SMV
Operator picks a piece then we start
stopwatch after complete operation
operator drop the piece we have to
pause stopwatch. This process will be
done minimum (10 times) & total
time will be divided by no of readings
& take ASCT (Average single cycle
time) & find actual SMV (Standard
Minute Value) then add Allowances
P/F (Personal Fatigue Allowance) &
M/D (Machine Delay Allowance)
Time Study
A simple sewing cycle consists of following elements.
Pick
Align
Sew
Dispose
Performance :
Performance measure by
the operator
Efficiency :
Efficiency measure by the
operation
Utilization :
Utilization measure by the
management. Utilization means how
much we utilized the operator
through out the day.
How toto Check Operator
performance Efficiency &
Utilization
Performance Measure
Performance = out put /on standard time
Performance = SAM x production x 100
On standard time x No. of workers
Example:
SAM : 15 Minute
Production : 1000 pcs
On standard time: 450 minute
No. of workers : 35 workers
Performance = SAM x production x 100
On standard time x No. of workers
P = 15 x 1000
450 x 35
= 15000 =0.952
15750
=0.952 x 100 = 95% Performance
Efficiency Measure
Efficiency = out put / input
Efficiency = SAM x Production x 100
Clock time x No. of workers
Example:
SAM : 15 Minute
Production:1000 pcs
Clock time: 480 minute
No. of workers : 35 workers
Efficiency = SAM x production x 100
Clock time x No. of workers
E= 15 x 1000
480 x 35
= 15000
16800
= 0.892 x100 = 89% Efficiency
Importance Of Quality
The only solution is to create awareness about the
quality and motivate the employees to make it a
habit not the requirement to be fulfilled. This is
about the behavioral change and a huge shift from
the “chalta hai” attitude of garment industry
employees. These changes will not come in a day or
a month, it will require much more than that and
above all that a patient management of the
company. But once we imbibed it in the system
“Quality will just happen, not a thing to be asked
for”.
“Qualit
y is not
a word;
it is a
state of
mind.”

Problem Solving Method
Problem solving is the act of defining a problem; determining
the cause of the problem; identifying, prioritizing and
selecting alternatives for a solution; and implementing a
solution.
In problem solving, there are four
basic steps.
1.Define the problem
2.Generate alternative solutions
3.Evaluate and select an alternative
4.Implement and follow up on the
solution

known as DPHU (Defects Per Hundred Units(.
To understand DHU, first you have to know the term 'defects' in garments and

Production Follow Up Mechanism
Supervisor must keep track of
his hourly production of at least
critical operation
 Hourly target can be recorded
by putting bundle stickers on
machine or by manually writing
quantity on machine.
 Supervisor should also keep
track of pairing and alteration
remaking in line.
Needle Knowledge
Each type of machine require different type of
needle

Needle Size:
Can be as small as 0.6mm or as large as 2.5mm.
The needle size is determined by thread size
