PROFILE
Over 15 years experience in process and flow assurance engineering for Oil and Gas facilities. Has a
successful track record of leading process and flow assurance engineering activities throughout the
project lifecycle from concept through to detailed design and operations. Design experience covers
offshore and onshore projects both greenfield projects and brownfield modifications projects, as such
understands the design and operation of the various process and utility systems that are associated
with oil and gas production on offshore (fixed, floating and subsea) facilities and onshore gas plants.
He has hands on operations experience working as the process engineering focal point for Tartan ‘A’
offshore platform at Talisman Energy and therefore has a firm understanding of the practical
limitations associated with the implementation of brownfield projects.
Can confidently engage with stakeholders and multi-discipline teams to facilitate timely and effective
decisions and produce robust cost effective designs. Has the ability to analyse complex problems and
projects and define the scope of work required, identify options and manage the risks and
opportunities to ensure the business objectives are met. Effectively communicates ideas and concepts
through meetings, presentations and reports.

EXPERIENCE
JUL 2013 – PRESENT, Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants, Consultant Process
Engineer
Genesis is a multi-discipline oil and gas consultancy focussed on supporting clients with a range studies
and projects and has a reputation for technical excellence high quality engineering.
Duties:
Delivery process and flow assurance studies and projects. The role required me to provide
specialist technical input at various stages of project development.
Execution of various flow assurance studies for a number of high profile clients such as Shell,
BO, E.On, Centrica, ConocoPhilips, Ithaca, TAQA and Maersk. These studies typically involved
assessment of subsea tiebacks at various stages of development.
Managing projects and study teams of up to 5 engineers.
Production of technical documents such as study reports, operating philosophies and capacity
assessments.

Key Achievements:
Delivered the Edradour and Glenlivet detailed design project for Technip/Total. The project
required management and execution of flow assurance scope that was over 2,000 man-hours.
Delivered the conceptual level study for BP Valhall Flank Water Injection. The project
successfully identified and screened cost effective solutions to expand water injection to the
existing unmanned wellhead platform.
Led the technical scope for pre-FEED activities associated with re-configuration of Southern
North Sea facilities for ConocoPhilips.
OCT 2012 – JUL 2013, Fluor (Perth, WA), Senior Process Engineer
Multi-national engineering design contractor where the focus was engineering design and project
execution of FEED and detailed design projects for modifications to various onshore and offshore
process plants.
Duties:
Led process engineering function on various projects for Woodside and OMV
Production and checking of process engineering documents including datasheets, engineering
calculations, technical reports and process drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, PSFS).
Estimation of man-hour budgets and schedules.
Key Achievements:
Carried out H2S dispersion modelling using PHAST for OMV to determine the optimum location
of fixed detectors on the OMV Raroa FPSO and WHP.
Delivered concept screening study for OMV which involved identify root cause of seawater filter
blockages.
2007 – 2012, Mustang / Wood Group PSN (Perth, WA), Senior Process
Engineer
Engineering design company and typically within multi-discipline engineering teams with the objective
of delivery of engineering design projects for numerous oil and gas clients both offshore and onshore in
scope.
Duties:
Working with clients and other engineering disciplines to produce fit for purpose process system
design.
Worked with a range of clients including large multi-nationals such as Apache, Chevron
Woodside and Eni.
Leading process teams and planning resource usage and budgets.
Dynamic and steady state process simulation.
Process design activities including; engineering calculations, relief and blowdown assessments,
operating philosophies, P&ID development, Cause and Effect diagrams, equipment datasheets.
Flow assurance design activities including steady state and transient simulation in OLGA,
developing subsea system design, developing hydrate, wax and liquid management
philosophies.
Due diligence reviews and technical expert witness.
Key Achievements:
Delivery of FEED and Detailed design of the Apache Julimar and Brunello tie-back to
Wheatstone platform. I worked within the Apache project team I was responsible for
developing workscopes, coordinating and delivering the flow assurance and process activities on
the project. Delivered significant cost savings in the order of AUD$20million on the pipeline
insulation by executing a probabilistic assessment of pipeline cooldown times.

Led process engineering for Woodside Otway Gas compression project. The project scope
included several thousand man-hours and was delivered on time and on budget.
Co-ordinated the execution of the development of conceptual process design of the offshore
processing facilities required for the Inpex Ichthys development. The project is a multi-billion
dollar LNG development and was delivered on short timescale. In order to meet the schedule
resources I co-ordinated across multiple locations. There were a number of competing technical
challenges associated with meeting the product specifications whilst keeping the topsides
equipment within the weight/space constraints which required some novel approaches the to
process design.
2003 - 2007, Frontier Engineering Solutions (Seconded to Talisman Energy)
Seconded to Talisman Energy, working within the onshore operations support group for Talismans
Flotta Catchment Area assets and acting as the process focal point for Tartan platform.
Duties:
Provision of technical guidance, day-to-day troubleshooting and plant optimisation to the
offshore operations.
Enrolling and managing vendor support if required; development of concepts for plant
improvements to SOR level.
Identification of process bottlenecks or improvements;
Provision of technical support to platform shutdowns, with main focus on managing the leak
testing scope of work;
Provide operations input to projects and modifications work scopes i.e. HAZOPs, design input
etc;
Input into root cause analysis of equipment failures (in particular compression issues).
Develop and managed process studies or work scopes, which has included sour crude system
re-instatement and gas compression controls modifications;
Work within the in-house modifications team to develop small or ‘fast-track’ modifications
Key Achievements:
Improved the uptime of the Tartan gas compression system by initiating and delivery of
upgrades to the dry gas seals system and engaging specialist vendor support to tune the anti-
surge controllers to minimise the frequency of compressor surge events.
Safely delivered shutdown leak testing programme to ensure on schedule restart of production.
Upfront planning of the test programme and pro-actively working with the offshore operations
team during the shutdown to efficiently direct the offshore personnel achieved this.
2001 - 2003, Aker Maritime/Aker Kvaerner, Process Engineer
Graduate engineer working as part of a multi-discipline teams, dealing with brownfield projects for
facilities located in the North Sea.
