CONTROL
TECHNIQUE
11/5/2016 8
Cot of inventory contributes the much major portion to the total cost of the
product.
If we are not reducing the cost of inventory the total cost will increase and it will
effect the final price of the product.
So the inventory control techniques will help us to reduce the total cost of the
product
and we can able to fix a competitive price for the customer.
Basic objective of inventory control is to ensure the continuous flow of raw
material for
Production, reducing wastage etc.…
The different types of inventory control techniques are:-
1.ABC analysis
It is based on the principal OF VITAL FEWTRIVAL MANY PARETO’S LAW OR
80-20 principle.
ABC analysis focus consumption criteria.
It means to give high importance to those small percentage of input which give
you high percentage of out put.
A means material with huge in amount and needs critical care
B means materials with average amount investing.
C materials with easily available and need not need critical care.
11/5/2016 9
2.HML ANALYSIS
It focus on price criteria. It is classified on the basis of price per unit.
On the basis of price per unit the importance of material is classified as
High, Medium and Low.
Management will keep a price range for each category.
3.VED ANALYSIS
Classification on the basis of criticality. Criticality here defines without those items
the production will stop.
Here the stock out of material create huge cost.
VED : VITAL,ESSENTIAL,DESIRABLE.
Vital :Without this production will stop
Essential:Stock out cost very high
Desirable :Nominal expenditure and create short term production issue.
4.SDE ANALYSIS
Analysis on the basis of procurement, means availability, scarcity and the time
required
SDE means : Scarce, Difficult, Easy
11/5/2016 10
5.G-NG-LF ANALYSIS OR GOLF ANALYSIS
Classification on the basis of suppliers.
Classified as govt, non govt, local and foreign.
6.S-OS ANALYSIS
Follows by companies which are procured raw materials on seasonal basis.
Classified as Seasonal and Off seasonal.
7.F-S-N ANALYSIS
Classified on the basis of consumption figure. Means fast moving, Slow moving
and Non-moving.
8.XYZ ANALYSIS
Analysis based on the stock in hand .X have the inventory are high and y have
moderate inventory stock Value and Z have the low value.
It is similar to ABC and HML analysis technique.

1.TYPES OF INNOVATION
LARRY KEELEY
Learnings:-There are two types of innovation ----Incremental and radical.
Incremental Innovation means improvement in existing thing ad radical
means finding an new entirely new thing for doing something.
Larry Keeley explains that there are ten types of corporate innovations
They are
Profit model,Network,Structure,Process,Product performance, Product
System, Service Channel ,Brand, Customer Engagement.
Keeley explains that most of the firms make innovation on the above ten
categories.
You have to analyze your current innovation offerings and identifies
opportunities in different category .
Firms can innovate in each of its structural functions. Each department have
separate innovation objectives and metrics.
So in every business organizations the process have to be innovated at some
stage and to be identifies the possible innovations and type of innovations.
So the conclusion will say that there are only successful and non successful
innovations. The successful innovation will improve the client value and the
unsuccessful does not.
Learnings:-
An innovation challenge is an effective way to inject some energy into the idea
creation of your company. It can be easily executed by using an internal
communication platform that every employee has access to, such as the
company Intranet, an idea software program, or email
The main innovation challenges are:
Time restrictions
Specific and Focused
Tied to resource.
Running of innovations challenges will help us to give an insight to solve
current problems, help us to jump start particular effort in organization, help
us to align every one to particular strategic objective.
Below points to keep in mind for a good innovations challenges.
Align the focus to an organizational priority
Explicitly state the challenge question
Spread the word
Assign resources to implement top ideas
Frontline peoples faces the problem of innovations. Innovations challenges will
to involve them in innovation challenges and will help to solve most problems.
11/5/2016 25
Learnings:-
India climbed 15 spots, from 81 to 66 In Global Innovation Index. India maintained
the top position in Central and south east Asian countries. The ranking is released
by Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organization
(WIPO).
Switzerland and Sweden lead the rankings and China is in the 25th position and the
became the only middle income country.
India scored high on tertiary education and R&D, the quality of its universities and
scientific publications, its market sophistication and information and
communication technology service exports, where it ranks first in the world,
according to the index.
According to index India scored high on tertiary education and R&D.Index also
said that India have the potential to become a global drive of innovation including
strong market potential.
Digital has become a primary driver of strategy development and innovation for
business in almost all sectors. The index said that India has the ability to create a
unique spot in innovation history to meet its own market requirements by using its
cultural advantages of frugality and sustainability. India’s priorities for innovation
need to be in the areas of energy, water, transport, health care, food security and
digital consumption.
11/5/2016 26
Learnings:-
India has jumped 19 places to the 35th rank in the World Bank’s Logistics
Performance Index 2016. The report, brought out every two years, measures
countries across six components—customs, infrastructure, international shipments,
logistics quality and competence, tracking and tracing, and timeliness.
“Improvement in India’s rank in Logistics Performance Index adequately
establishes steady performance in our competitiveness in manufacturing and trade
that also acts as one of the growth driver of Make in India Programme,” the
government said in a statement. The World Bank, however, said that the Indian
numbers come with a caveat. “The LPI measures performance at key international
gateways in countries such as India and China, but does not address how easy or
difficult it is to move goods to the hinterland,” the report noted.
11/5/2016 27
Learnings:-
The shipping ministry has set up a logistics data bank (LDB) at Jawaharlal
Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai.
The logistics data bank service would bring efficiency in the current Logistics &
Supply Chain environment through use of information technology that would
be helpful for tracking and viewing the movement of containers across the
port.
This LDB Project will provide visibility and transparency in EXIM containers
movement and will help in reducing overall lead time of the container
movement across the western corridor and lower the transaction cost incurred
by the shippers and consignees as a result of predictability and optimization
achieved through Logistics Data Bank (LDB) services

The Railways will earn INR 500 crore this year from surge pricing on Rajdhani,
Duronto and Shatabdi trains. Indian Railways are looking more viable and are
targeting both freight and passenger revenues.
Today, for moving a passenger one kilometer, Railways spends 73 paise and in
return gets only 34 paise. So the Indian railway introducing the dynamic fare
system on an experimental basis.
The Railways introducing the surge price, which will translate into an increase
in fares by 30-40% for most travelers on the three classes of trains. While the
first 10% of the seats will be sold at the base fare, the fare will increase by 10%
with every 10% of the tickets sold.
Railway is losing its freight share to road sector. So they are introducing a
complete strategy to get back our share and make Railways more viable and
competitive .
The freight accounts for 65% of railway earnings, around 25% come from the
passenger segment.
11/5/2016 29
Distribution Logistics Infrastructure (DLI) is planning to launch inter modal
logistics services for export and import cargo and containers from their own Inland
Container Depot.
DLI, formerly known as Vikram Logistic and Martime Logistic Private Limited
(VLMS), has created the integrated logistic park at Borkhedi, which is about 10 km
from Butibori Industrial Area and is also close to Mihan (Multi-modal International
Cargo Hub and Airport).
DLI has created a basic infrastructure at Borkhedi for rail linked inland containers
depot, rail linked domestic container terminal, first mile and last mile connectivity
by road, automobile logistic park, liquid tank farm for liquid cargo, private freight
terminal for break bulk cargo and dedicated warehousing for transit and bonded
cargo.
The company has invested about INR 100 crore on the facility, which will provide
direct employment to 150 people and indirect to about 450. Setting up of a
dedicated warehouse as per the need of customers on 1.50 lakh square feet was also
on the cards.
11/5/2016 30
Learnings:
If we exaggerate on our resume and are invited in for an interview, we are
going to have to defend what we wrote. The more we try, the more obvious it
will become to the interviewer that we lack enough confidence in our self to
stick to the truth.
If we exaggerate on your resume and pass the interview, the company will
check references and they will discover that none of the references can confirm
the information on our resume.
If we exaggerate on your resume and somehow make it all the way through to
hiring, we will have to deliver on the job
If we exaggerate or lie on a resume and you are found out later, you can be
fired and might even ruin your chance to ever get hired. In some states, we
could be charged with a misdemeanor or even a felony.
11/5/2016 31
Learnings:-
The detailed three steps you must follow if you want to ace your job interview,
as detailed below.
1. Do meaningful research
 Anyone can read a company’s website, and your interviewing
competition will do just that,” stated Career Junction, adding that job-
seekers must dig into “as much recent history of the company as you can
find
 Recent earnings reports for public firms, press releases, social media
profiles, and articles in the media are good sources of information.
2. Take cues from your interviewer
 Listen and watch the interviewer, answer the questions asked, and don’t
only rattle off topics you feel show you in the best light.
3. Treat interviewers like clients
 You would never dream of not following up with a client or potential
client, or not thanking them for their time,” stated the post.
 Ask what the priorities for the position are and find out about the main
challenges they want you to tackle.
11/5/2016 32
Learnings:-
1. Submit your resume in Microsoft Word format.
2. Do not include tables in formatting the text.
3. Be aware that there are many ATS providers, including archaic and
new versions. As a candidate, you have no way of knowing which one
your resume will have to deal with, and pdf files or files formatted in
other ways might not be able to get read into every type of ATS
software.
4. Don’t format your resume by way of the use of a resume template.
5. Use the standard, customary section headers for sections and put
them on separate lines.
6. Type those section headers in all capital letters, such as
"Professional Experience," but do not type anything else in all caps. Of
course use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence, for the words
in course titles and for all proper nouns.
7. Be consistent when listing your previous companies and titles --
whichever you want to list first for emphasis.
11/5/2016 33
8. List a company name with its appropriate suffix such as Inc. or LLC.
Otherwise, the company name could be mistaken for a different company.
9. Separate each resume section by a blank line, but never add a blank line
within a paragraph.
10. Do not number the pages because computers see all information as
continuous. Your page number would wind up appearing at random
somewhere in the middle of the document.

  • 31. Learnings: If we exaggerate on our resume and are invited in for an interview, we are going to have to defend what we wrote. The more we try, the more obvious it will become to the interviewer that we lack enough confidence in our self to stick to the truth. If we exaggerate on your resume and pass the interview, the company will check references and they will discover that none of the references can confirm the information on our resume. If we exaggerate on your resume and somehow make it all the way through to hiring, we will have to deliver on the job If we exaggerate or lie on a resume and you are found out later, you can be fired and might even ruin your chance to ever get hired. In some states, we could be charged with a misdemeanor or even a felony. 11/5/2016 31
  • 32. Learnings:- The detailed three steps you must follow if you want to ace your job interview, as detailed below. 1. Take cues from your interviewer  Listen and watch the interviewer, answer the questions asked, and don’t only rattle off topics you feel show you in the best light. 3. Treat interviewers like clients  You would never dream of not following up with a client or potential client, or not thanking them for their time,” stated the post.  Ask what the priorities for the position are and find out about the main challenges they want you to tackle. 11/5/2016 32
  • 33. Learnings:- 1. Submit your resume in Microsoft Word format. 2. Do not include tables in formatting the text. 3. Be aware that there are many ATS providers, including archaic and new versions. As a candidate, you have no way of knowing which one your resume will have to deal with, and pdf files or files formatted in other ways might not be able to get read into every type of ATS software. 4. Don’t format your resume by way of the use of a resume template. 5. Use the standard, customary section headers for sections and put them on separate lines. 6. Type those section headers in all capital letters, such as "Professional Experience," but do not type anything else in all caps. Of course use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence, for the words in course titles and for all proper nouns. 7. Be consistent when listing your previous companies and titles -- whichever you want to list first for emphasis. 11/5/2016 33
  • 34. 8. List a company name with its appropriate suffix such as Inc. or LLC. Otherwise, the company name could be mistaken for a different company. 9. Separate each resume section by a blank line, but never add a blank line within a paragraph. 10. Do not number the pages because computers see all information as continuous. Your page number would wind up appearing at random somewhere in the middle of the document. 11/5/2016 34
