Ashland Inc.
Subject: Ria Davidson
If you are reading this letter then you need Ria to help you. I know the
feeling. Even when I had other PR agencies on retainer, there were
many times in my career at Ashland that I just simply needed to get a
situation resolved, get a fresh set of ideas or get an important project
completed quickly and professionally. Ria always delivered.
Working with agencies or consultants can be frustrating and sometimes
the work is not what you were hoping for. I always looked forward to
talking to Ria. She would add to my ideas, bring new thinking and
suddenly I knew we were making progress.
Ria delivers on time, on budget and the only surprises will be good
ones. She can tell you the details of the projects we’ve worked on
together. I can only give you my professional advice after 33 years
in the business and 28 years at Ashland…call Ria.
Best wishes,
Dan Lacy

Energetic, positive, strategic and creative - and faster than a speeding idea - no it isn’t
“PR Woman” it is PRCounselor! Ria captures the essence of the communication need
and creates programs that are designed specific to the client’s request. Actually, I am
wrong. Ria takes the request further and develops a possibility that very often supersedes
even the best possible outcomes - and expectations.
I am a PR manager for a large consumer products company and often work with the best
communications agencies in the world. Over the years, I have seen the results of Ria’s
PR efforts and she is a star with what she has done. Being a small boutique agency of
one, she often surprises everyone with the results she obtains on behalf of her clients
without a full staff behind her. I am her friend, admirer and at times, have been the
“Client” and wish her on anyone with the need of excellent PR capability.
Sincerely,
Elaine Plummer

Ria,
I'm contacting you to let you know that I will be retiring from the Kentucky
Transportation Cabinet effective August 1, 2004. I just want to take a
moment to thank you for the wonderful job you did for ODOT and the KYTC
on the Beat the Jam public information and education program. Your firm,
under your leadership, reinvented and reinvigorated what had frankly
become a stale public information program known as Go With the Flo.
Beat the Jam brought new energy and vitality to this important public
information program at a critical time. As you will remember, it seemed that
there were highway reconstruction projects on every interstate in the
Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Area at that time. Beat the Jam clearly
explained to the public where these projects were, how folks might reduce
the impacts of these projects by seeking alternate routes and educated the
public about the availability of other modes of transportation to help the
public be proactive when making transportation choices during this busy
period of interstate reconstruction.
As the Cabinet's representative for this program, I want to express
my sincere appreciation for the fantastic job that you and your firm did on
this effort. In my opinion, this program was a tremendous success. If the
opportunity presented itself, I would love to contract with you again.
Thanks for all of your help.
Sincerely,
Bob Hill

To Whom It May Concern:
As former Vice President of Communications for The Ryland Group, Inc., I worked closely
with Ria Davidson Communications to address a situation in which our company was being
portrayed unfairly and negatively in the Cincinnati media.
Ria developed a bold strategy that was right on target. Within days of executing the first steps
of her plan, more positive media stories began appearing. Now, more than a year later, our
company is consistently portrayed very positively.
I worked with Ria daily during the initial weeks of her assignment and she impressed me with
both her high-level strategic thinking as well as her intense attention to detail. This is a rare
combination of skills. I have a reputation for being demanding, and I often second-guess a
consultant’s thinking or execution. But I almost never felt I could improve upon Ria’s work.
Above all, I was amazed by Ria’s passion for our company’s interests. Ria cared so much
about the mission that she was often up in the middle of the night thinking about it. Even
recently, though her assignment is now mostly complete, she has made it clear that she cares
about Ryland’s business as though it were her own company.
In summary, I would highly recommend Ria Davidson for any work that involves customer
and media relations, crisis communications, or environmental issues. I am certain that any
company hiring her will be extremely pleased with her work.
Sincerely,
Melissa H. Bailey
