Posters have to be eye catching in order for people to go and watch the trailer
online or even go to see the film in cinemas. This poster is able to record the
genre and narrative of the film and makes it visible to the audience, this is
important so that they know what genre theyre expecting to see and people who like
this film genre will go and see the film. Layered images have been used in order to
create the image used on the 'Uninvited' film poster. Layering the girl with the fog
and the woodland creates a spooky feeling. The use of woods is common in horror
films. The picture of the female behind the window pane, is looking into the window
looking in at the audience but the audience are unable to see her face, as the image
is back-lit. Low key lighting is iconographic of the thriller genre. The whole
surrounding; the gloomy house, the woods, the darkness and the girl looking in
without being able to see her face screams out horror/thriller genre.

The typography is as if it has been written on a foggy, steamy window and is very
child like font. This is used a lot in this genre of film. 'The Uninvited' film poster
notes the producers above the title of the film. The reasoning for doing this is so
people can gain some sort of expectation to what the film would be like, the
expectation of the film is going to be grearter from the audience if it is by the same
