Basics
1. Title: I’ll Name This Podcast Later
2. Rapper Joe Budden, who is from Jersey City, NJ, created this podcast. His most
commercially successful single is the 2003 hit song, “Pump it Up.” Aside from his solo work,
Budden is also apart of the hip-hop supergroup Slaughterhouse, alongside fellow hip-hop artists
Royce da 5’9”, Joel Ortiz, and Crooked I. Outside of his music career, Budden co-stars in the
VH1 reality show Love and Hip Hop.
This podcast also co-stars Budden’s dear friends Marisa Mendez and Rory.
3. This podcast has been around since 2/18/15. The show just released its 55th
episode on
March 9th
, 2016.
Market Placement
1. The target audience for this podcast seems to be the 18-36 age range.
2. According to the great reviews I have seen on podbay.fm and iTunes, it seems to be
reaching its audience very well. It also has over 16 thousand followers on Soundcloud.
3. Two podcasts that target the same audience include:
a. Juan Epstein - hosted by Hot 97 DJs, Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds. A lot interviews
with big names like Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams as well as more underground
names. Some incredible gems from this podcast include Snoop's story about Pac and Nas'
confrontation in Central Park.
b. The Combat Jack Show - hosted by industry OG Reggie "Combat Jack" Ossé. This show
documents the hip-hop culture with in-depth interviews with historical figures and modern day
superstars – ranging from Red Alert to Pusha T to Angela Yee.
c. Each of these podcasts gain their audience by bringing in big name guests, as well as
having great connections to get the podcast’s name out to the public. What also helps is the use
of social media, as well as the audience connection with social media.
4. With Joe Budden’s Podcast, he does similar content that the other podcasts do, but the
chemistry that he has with his co-hosts Marisa and Rory makes for great listening.
5. Some ways that this podcast can improve is by implementing more use of social media. I
know that Joe Budden has a Facebook and Twitter, but it would maybe increase his followers
by creating a Facebook page for the Podcast itself.
Multi-Media
1. The multi-media sources used on this podcast are Soundcloud iTunes, and Youtube.
2. The values of these sources are huge, especially for podcasts like this. For Itunes and
Soundcloud, you can keep up to date with the episodes, or you can download them for your
own personal listening.
3. One way that Joe Budden can improve his use of multimedia is by using video for the
YouTube page. This way people can actually witness their conversations instead of hearing
them.
4. This podcast points at all other linked social media really well.
5. I know that Joe Budden has a Facebook and Twitter, but it would maybe increase his
followers by creating a Facebook page for the Podcast itself.

Look
1. In an audio sense, this podcast sounds very professional, and cover artwork for each
episode is simple, yet effective to highlight the episode. The color of the page is very vibrant and
lively, much like the personalities of this podcast.
2. Even though there is no video, the CD cover artwork for each episode on Soundcloud does
look professional, and is also, as stated earlier, simple.
3. There are new episodes weekly, and there is new artwork for each episode. Other than that,
the layout for the page doesn’t really change.
4. I think the overall sound and look of this podcast fits the image of the target audience.
Transparency
1. By hearing a little bit of an episode, it really feels like I know the creator on a personal level
because of his relaxed and fun demeanor when he speaks.
2. This podcast sounds personally produced.
3. This would be something I would listen to on a weekly basis.
