Angry Eye Assignment
My opinion on the two video clips of Angry Eye is that it is very true and relevant
to our society today. Our society, in my opinion, sees racism as a joke. For instance, the
following phrases are used to cover racism, “Not trying to sound racist or anything
but…” or as the video says, “I don’t see color, I see you for who you are.” As the video
explains, these phrases actually contradict themselves. I was very surprised to the
reactions of some of the students that showed sadness and guilt because they were being
first hand exposed to racism that happens everyday that they didn’t know of. Also, I was
surprised about the arguments some of the students tried to make against the whole object
of the study. For example, one student mention that there is discrimination about
everything and not just the color of skin, but the instructor quickly turned that down with
a clear example that color is the first thing a person sees. If I was to have participated in
the study I think I would have been clueless of how to react. It was a great learning
experience. What I took from this study discrimination still exist today and that it will
continue as long as we allow it in our society.
