The Route Concept for the EUROPA 2:
Advantage 1: Flexible Cruise Dates
Many of the EUROPA 2 routes are available on different
dates. You can choose your preferred route and select which
cruise date you want.
Advantage 2: Flexible Cruise Duration
You decide how long you want to travel for! According to your
personal travel preferences, you can also combine different
routes. For example, extend the seven-day Barcelona – Monte
Carlo route 3 to two weeks with route 4 . Or add route 5
for 21 wonderful days.
Advantage 3: Flexible Combinations
Not only from A to B, but also criss-cross. With the
EUROPA 2, you can combine different routes and regions
and even benefit from an attractive combination bonus.
For combination examples, please refer to the respective
cruise pages.

RELAXED ELEGANCE
IS NOT AN ABSTRACT CONCEPT,
BUT A STUNNING SHIP.
11
P H I L O S O P H Y
UNLIMITED FREEDOM BEGINS WITH YOUR TR AVEL PLANS.
– Cruise duration from seven days; can be individually
extended with other cruises.
– Numerous combination possibilities – even beyond
a specific region.
– For many routes, there are several dates.
– 123 different ports in total.
– Optimally accessible cruise departure and arrival
points.
– Small, less well-known ports away from busier
destinations.
– Attractive combination bonus for two or more
combined cruises.

3 Route number
Origin and destination ports
Four regions – 26 routes – 123 ports – hundreds
of extraordinar y days. The route concept for the
EUROPA 2 provides you with maximum freedom for
your travel plans. The routes are distinguished by
a shorter cruise duration. For example, the majority
of cruises in the Mediterranean
last for a period of seven days.
These individual cruises can
also be combined for a longer
holiday. You can either explore a
specific region in more detail or
extend your cruise and discover
more fantastic destinations.
However you choose to com-
bine your trips – for example,
from Barcelona to Monte Carlo,
on to Malta, and back again
to the city of Gaudi – you will
hardly call at any of the ports twice. Both origin and
destination ports are always easily accessible. And
even when selecting the time of your holiday, you can
be ver y flexible. In the western Mediterranean, for ex-
ample, you have up to four different cruise dates per
route to choose from. So no matter where your per-
sonal break takes you, you will always have maximum
variety. On all our cruises, our particular destinations
are the smaller ports that are not so well known – ones
which other cruise ships often have to turn about. Due
to the small size of the ship, the EUROPA 2 can also
reach places that lie off the beaten track and beyond
the usual tourist itinerary. And
our Zodiacs, robust motorised
rubber boats, will take you to
the most beautiful, secluded
beaches.
Thanks to longer lay times, it
is possible to explore many
ports, often in great detail,
well into the evening or even
overnight.
The EUROPA 2 offers so many
possibilities for discovering the
world that being away longer is completely worthwhile.
In two ways: not only will you have some unforgettable
memories, but you will also benefit from our combin-
ation bonus by combining two cruises or more. Find
out how much you can save in the price inser t on

THE NEW WAY TO ENJOY RELAXED LUXURY.
01
01 The IMPERATOR The most comfortable passenger ship
in the world of its time.
02 An Exclusive Hideaway at Sea Generous amounts of
space and individual leisure activities are key features of the
EUROPA 2.
P H I L O S O P H Y
* According to Berlitz Cruise Guide 2012.
To be ahead of others means having to reinvent
oneself over and over again. This applied to us already
more than 120 years ago, when Albert Ballin organised
the first cruise. Since then, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises have
influenced the culture of luxur y voyages at sea more
than any other provider. One milestone of our success
stor y is the proud IMPERATOR from 1913. Furnished
with a marble swimming pool, a cinema and a 5-star
Ritz Carlton restaurant, it was the largest and most
comfor table passenger ship in the world of its time.
The EUROPA 2 will also be built in St. Nazaire for the
most exclusive standards. Just like its sister ship, the
EUROPA, which has been named a 5-star plus cruise
ship* twelve times in a row since its commissioning, the
EUROPA 2 represents perfect service and the highest
culinar y standards. We have reinterpreted these good
qualities and focused entirely on the requirements of
our international guests. Exactly 100 years since the
maiden voyage of our IMPERATOR, the EUROPA 2 will
be put to sea for the first time in May 2013. And thus
a new chapter in the success stor y of Hapag-Lloyd
Cruises will begin.
13
P H I L O S O P H Y
02
The design concept of the EUROPA 2 follows the latest
trends. It is a successful blend of casually elegant
ambience and state-of-the-ar t technology. Life on
board sets its own standards: more lifestyle and less
cruise tradition create a rela xed atmosphere. It is
striking just how much space each individual passenger
will have – hardly no other ship offers more room per
guest than the EUROPA 2.
You also have a choice between the many restaurants
on board. Haute cuisine in the Restaurant Weltmeere
or rather Asian flavours in the Restaurant Elements.
These are just some of the decisions you will have
to make on a daily basis. In addition, you can dine
where, when, how and with whom you like. Even the
enter tainment range is varied – dif ferent programme
times allow you to enjoy rela xed evenings on board
ever y night.
Particularly when it comes to wellness, the EUROPA 2
flies the flag: the OCEAN SPA provides spacious rooms
and offers an exclusive and varied range of treatments.
For our little sailors, there is professional and varied
childcare for those as young as two years old. Exciting
for the children – and very relaxing for the parents.

Behind ever y special ship is a great crew. On the
EUROPA 2, the crew consists of more than 370 employ-
ees who work hand in hand and only have one aim
in mind: to ensure that you have a dreamlike holiday.
They have mastered the art of fulfilling the needs of
our German and international guests – discretely and
with meticulous attention to detail. The motivated and
sensitive crew help to provide a relaxing atmosphere
on board.
First and foremost, at the top of the bridge, is Cap-
tain Friedrich-Jan Akkermann. The popular captain
of the EUROPA will greet the new ship in St. Nazaire
in spring 2013 and take over the command of the
EUROPA 2, bringing with him more than 30 years
of experience. He will be accompanied by a highly
motivated crew – together they will ensure that each
cruise is an unforgettable experience and guarantee,
right from the beginning, that the EUROPA 2 fulfils the
quality promise of the EUROPA brand.
PASSIONATELY ON BOARD TO SERVE YOU.
14
The ser vice on the EUROPA 2 is pleasantly attentive
and the crew gets to know the guests personally with-
in a ver y short space of time. This is no wonder, be-
cause the ratio of crew to guests on board the newest
ship in our fleet is outstanding.
When it comes to your well-being, the hotel director
Johann Schrempf is a particular specialist. All threads
of the ship’s excellent ser vice come together in this
Austrian – from the friendly perfection in your suite
to the enjoyable gastronomic experiences. Your re-
quests are his compass through the world. As an
experienced hotel manager on board our expedition
ship, the HANSEATIC, and the sister ship EUROPA, he
– together with his young team, which was trained in
Germany – helps to create the new and unique charm
of the EUROPA 2, which easily makes guests from all
over the world feel completely comfortable on board.

ENVIRONMENTALISM HAS A PERMANENT PLACE ON BOARD.
07
Environmentalism plays a large role on board all
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ships. The entire fleet is fitted
with modern environmental technology and is kept up
to date with regular visits to the shipyard. The ships
are equipped with the latest seawater desalination
facilities for water treatment, as well as biological
sawage treatment plant and TBT-free under water
paint. In addition, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises operate a
comprehensive waste collection and also ensures
that waste is disposed of onshore.
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises reduce the emissions of all their
ships by using a clever route management; the re-
nunciation of “the last knot” reduces fuel consump-
tion by around 30 %. By using fuels with a maximum
sulphur content of 0.1 % during lay times in European
ports, emission is reduced by 93 % compared to the
standard limit.
In collaboration with the non-profit environmental pro-
tection organisation, atmosfair, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises
are the first cruise company to offer a CO2
offsetting
compensation. atmosfair have developed the first cli-
mate calculator for cruises.
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises are responsible for a quarter of
this voluntar y climate protection contribution for their
passengers. More information at: www.hl-cruises.com/
climate-calculator.
When it comes to climate protection, the EUROPA 2
goes further and sets standards. A newly designed
hull cuts fuel consumption by approx. 18 % in rela-
tion to other ships of a similar size. Energy recover y
and LED lights help to reduce energy consumption.
And using a higher proportion of low-sulphur marine
diesel clearly reduces the sulphur emissions of the
EUROPA 2. It is the first cruise ship with SCR cata-
lysts, which reduce the nitrogen oxide emissions by
almost 95 %. And a special cleaning system prevents
the entrainment of other species of flora and fauna in
the ballast water tanks.

On board the EUROPA 2, there is something new to

example, silk hangers for delicate fabrics, high-quality

LIFE IS FULL
MORNINGS, AFTERNOONS, EVENINGS.
OF SURPRISES.
01
When you imagine an excellent dinner on the high
seas, most people picture a stuffy atmosphere
and formal evening wear. However, on board the
EUROPA 2, this way of thinking is interpreted in a
new way. The basic concept of the exquisite restaur-
ants on board is pleasantly relaxed. Without set
meal times – casual yet with its own style. And cu-
linar y arts at the highest level with lots of diversity.
From upscale modern cuisine to a rich variety of
Asian delights. Some opulent, some light, some fresh
from the grill, some rustically inspired.
The stylish atmosphere of the eight restaurants empha-
sises the enjoyable expectations, and the large amount
of space in each of the restaurants sets the per fect
scene for endless culinar y discoveries. From classic
Italian to modern Asian – on board the EUROPA 2,

on board the sister ship EUROPA. Wilke acquired his
culinar y skills from Harald Wohlfahr t, who is now
regarded as Germany’s best 3-star chef. The culinary
range spans from international to vegetarian menus,
which are all interpreted in new and surprising ways
time and time again.

Sansibar
The legendar y Sansibar, with the crossed pirate
swords, has enjoyed cult status for decades – on
the German holiday island of Sylt and exclusively

A MAXIMUM R ANGE OF ACTIVITIES FOR MINI SAILORS.
Holiday time means quality time spent together – es-
pecially for families. But also independent experiences,
because ever yone wants to do their own thing from
time to time. Therefore, the EUROPA 2 is both child-
and parent-friendly. After all, when children are bored
on holiday, it can get difficult for parents.
Completely individual and completely active – on the
EUROPA 2, parents and children will find numerous
oppor tunities to spend the best time of the year with
one another. And, at the same time, enough freedom
to independently discover new things with new-found
friends of the same age. Children are welcome guests
on board the EUROPA 2. And because no child is the
same, there are lots of age-specific offers. Unique, for
instance, is the guaranteed childcare for children as
young as two. Trained childcare specialists will ensure
that your child won’t ever get bored during their exciting
day. This also applies if you would like to have a proper
lie-in for once – our late-risers ser vice* for parents is
available for days at sea. On request, we take care of
your little one from 8.00 hrs and pick them up from
your suite.
Children discover the world in a variety of ways. Opti-
mally adapted to the age of your child, games, sports
and creative programmes provide lots of fun – both on
board and ashore. For children there are specifically
tailored excursions*. That gives you the freedom and
the peace of mind to go on a separate shore excur-
sion, according to your personal preferences, without
worr ying about your children. Or you can go on
your discover y as a family. Your travel concierge will
be happy to help you arrange an individual family
excursion*.
01
Good to know for your family holiday: on board the
EUROPA 2, children up to the age of eleven travel
free in the same suite as their parents, grandparents
or other full-paying accompanying adult. Those aged
12 to 15 years of age also benefit – and pay only
50 Euros (39 Pounds Sterling/60 US Dollars) per night
for accommodation in the same suite as an accom-
panying adult. It’s nice to be a child.
Travel Lighter with the Baby Welcome Package
The free Baby Welcome Package for small children
aged zero to three years old includes all baby supply
products that a small child might need during the
cruise, and saves young parents from excessive
luggage due to baby items. You will find this package
in your suite upon arrival as well as baby-friendly
furnishings. Simply enter your requirements prior to
departure, and we will arrange your Baby Welcome
Package. There is also a babysitter service* available
in the evening on request.
01 Creative Freedom Life on board is an endless
adventure, especially for children.

What do the editors of the children’s magazine do?
Even for those aged four to ten years old, there is no
boredom in sight far and wide. No wonder – with this

discoverers need to quickly broaden their horizons: a

Luxury Cruises MS EUROPA, MS EUROPA 2 and MS COLUMBUS 2 All your own personal holiday dreams will come true on board our luxury ships. The unique EUROPA – which has been awarded the “5-star plus”* rating for the twelfth consecutive year – will take you to beautiful destinations around the globe. The EUROPA 2 allows you to experience a casual interpretation of this utmost level in luxury. And the COLUMBUS 2 makes your dreams come alive in the most beautiful regions of the world. Whether in a relaxed atmosphere or a luxurious one – you can enjoy your holiday exactly how you want to on board our ships. Expedition Cruises MS HANSEATIC and MS BREMEN Why not cruise spectacular routes on board the HANSEATIC and the BREMEN and follow in the foot- steps of legendary explorers. Ac- companied by experts in vari- ous fields of knowledge, a small group of no more than 184 and 164 passengers respectively can enjoy experiencing natural spec- tacles and cultural treasures at first hand. Both the HANSEATIC and the BREMEN have the highest Ice Class rating for passenger ships and are therefore able to access polar regions as well. And in those places that other ships have to by- pass, on-board Zodiacs enable you to go ashore to get up-close to this planet’s natural wonders. Air Cruises ALBERT BALLIN Incomparable, premium-level soft adventure tours. Come aboard the ALBERT BALLIN and explore the world off the beaten track in your own private jet. Renowned experts accompany and share their know- ledge with you as you travel to the world’s most spectacular destinations. Why not let yourself be chauffeured to the apron and pampered high in the sky by the first-class service crew. Stay in the best accommodation in the world’s most beautiful places and enjoy all the creature comforts you can think of and that exquisite feeling of pure luxury during your trip. We im- press with our personal service, high gastronomic standards, individual cruise programmes and excellent facil- ities as well as an international ambience – offering the utmost comfort, which you will only find on board a Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ship. This exclusivity can also be experienced on board the EUROPA 2, but it is distinctively modern and casual. The route concept focuses on four regions and complies with our guests’ requests for shorter cruises that can be combined. The EUROPA 2 has an increased focus on wellness and fitness and also boasts a varied entertainment programme. All these benefits can be enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere and at a uniquely high level, which you can only expect from a ship that bears the name EUROPA. We hope that our catalogue will pro- vide you with some inspiration for the premiere of our second flagship, and we look forward to your next exclusive break at sea on board our new ship. • 10. 10 P H I L O S O P H Y RELAXED ELEGANCE IS NOT AN ABSTRACT CONCEPT, BUT A STUNNING SHIP.
  • 11. 11 P H I L O S O P H Y UNLIMITED FREEDOM BEGINS WITH YOUR TR AVEL PLANS. – Cruise duration from seven days; can be individually extended with other cruises. – Numerous combination possibilities – even beyond a specific region. – For many routes, there are several dates. – 123 different ports in total. – Optimally accessible cruise departure and arrival points. – Small, less well-known ports away from busier destinations. – Attractive combination bonus for two or more combined cruises. Advantages of the New Route Concept: Malta Monte Carlo Barcelona 4 3 5 3 Route number Origin and destination ports Four regions – 26 routes – 123 ports – hundreds of extraordinar y days. The route concept for the EUROPA 2 provides you with maximum freedom for your travel plans. The routes are distinguished by a shorter cruise duration. For example, the majority of cruises in the Mediterranean last for a period of seven days. These individual cruises can also be combined for a longer holiday. You can either explore a specific region in more detail or extend your cruise and discover more fantastic destinations. However you choose to com- bine your trips – for example, from Barcelona to Monte Carlo, on to Malta, and back again to the city of Gaudi – you will hardly call at any of the ports twice. Both origin and destination ports are always easily accessible. And even when selecting the time of your holiday, you can be ver y flexible. In the western Mediterranean, for ex- ample, you have up to four different cruise dates per route to choose from. So no matter where your per- sonal break takes you, you will always have maximum variety. On all our cruises, our particular destinations are the smaller ports that are not so well known – ones which other cruise ships often have to turn about. Due to the small size of the ship, the EUROPA 2 can also reach places that lie off the beaten track and beyond the usual tourist itinerary. And our Zodiacs, robust motorised rubber boats, will take you to the most beautiful, secluded beaches. Thanks to longer lay times, it is possible to explore many ports, often in great detail, well into the evening or even overnight. The EUROPA 2 offers so many possibilities for discovering the world that being away longer is completely worthwhile. In two ways: not only will you have some unforgettable memories, but you will also benefit from our combin- ation bonus by combining two cruises or more. Find out how much you can save in the price inser t on page 19.
  • 12. 12 THE NEW WAY TO ENJOY RELAXED LUXURY. 01 01 The IMPERATOR The most comfortable passenger ship in the world of its time. 02 An Exclusive Hideaway at Sea Generous amounts of space and individual leisure activities are key features of the EUROPA 2. P H I L O S O P H Y * According to Berlitz Cruise Guide 2012. To be ahead of others means having to reinvent oneself over and over again. This applied to us already more than 120 years ago, when Albert Ballin organised the first cruise. Since then, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises have influenced the culture of luxur y voyages at sea more than any other provider. One milestone of our success stor y is the proud IMPERATOR from 1913. Furnished with a marble swimming pool, a cinema and a 5-star Ritz Carlton restaurant, it was the largest and most comfor table passenger ship in the world of its time. The EUROPA 2 will also be built in St. Nazaire for the most exclusive standards. Just like its sister ship, the EUROPA, which has been named a 5-star plus cruise ship* twelve times in a row since its commissioning, the EUROPA 2 represents perfect service and the highest culinar y standards. We have reinterpreted these good qualities and focused entirely on the requirements of our international guests. Exactly 100 years since the maiden voyage of our IMPERATOR, the EUROPA 2 will be put to sea for the first time in May 2013. And thus a new chapter in the success stor y of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will begin.
  • 13. 13 P H I L O S O P H Y 02 The design concept of the EUROPA 2 follows the latest trends. It is a successful blend of casually elegant ambience and state-of-the-ar t technology. Life on board sets its own standards: more lifestyle and less cruise tradition create a rela xed atmosphere. It is striking just how much space each individual passenger will have – hardly no other ship offers more room per guest than the EUROPA 2. You also have a choice between the many restaurants on board. Haute cuisine in the Restaurant Weltmeere or rather Asian flavours in the Restaurant Elements. These are just some of the decisions you will have to make on a daily basis. In addition, you can dine where, when, how and with whom you like. Even the enter tainment range is varied – dif ferent programme times allow you to enjoy rela xed evenings on board ever y night. Particularly when it comes to wellness, the EUROPA 2 flies the flag: the OCEAN SPA provides spacious rooms and offers an exclusive and varied range of treatments. For our little sailors, there is professional and varied childcare for those as young as two years old. Exciting for the children – and very relaxing for the parents.

They have mastered the art of fulfilling the needs of our German and international guests – discretely and with meticulous attention to detail. The motivated and sensitive crew help to provide a relaxing atmosphere on board. First and foremost, at the top of the bridge, is Cap- tain Friedrich-Jan Akkermann. The popular captain of the EUROPA will greet the new ship in St. Nazaire in spring 2013 and take over the command of the EUROPA 2, bringing with him more than 30 years of experience. He will be accompanied by a highly motivated crew – together they will ensure that each cruise is an unforgettable experience and guarantee, right from the beginning, that the EUROPA 2 fulfils the quality promise of the EUROPA brand. • 16. 16 ENVIRONMENTALISM HAS A PERMANENT PLACE ON BOARD. 07 Environmentalism plays a large role on board all Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ships. The entire fleet is fitted with modern environmental technology and is kept up to date with regular visits to the shipyard. The ships are equipped with the latest seawater desalination facilities for water treatment, as well as biological sawage treatment plant and TBT-free under water paint. In addition, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises operate a comprehensive waste collection and also ensures that waste is disposed of onshore. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises reduce the emissions of all their ships by using a clever route management; the re- nunciation of “the last knot” reduces fuel consump- tion by around 30 %. By using fuels with a maximum sulphur content of 0.1 % during lay times in European ports, emission is reduced by 93 % compared to the standard limit. In collaboration with the non-profit environmental pro- tection organisation, atmosfair, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises are the first cruise company to offer a CO2 offsetting compensation. atmosfair have developed the first cli- mate calculator for cruises. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises are responsible for a quarter of this voluntar y climate protection contribution for their passengers. More information at: www.hl-cruises.com/ climate-calculator. When it comes to climate protection, the EUROPA 2 goes further and sets standards. A newly designed hull cuts fuel consumption by approx. 18 % in rela- tion to other ships of a similar size. Energy recover y and LED lights help to reduce energy consumption. And using a higher proportion of low-sulphur marine diesel clearly reduces the sulphur emissions of the EUROPA 2. It is the first cruise ship with SCR cata- lysts, which reduce the nitrogen oxide emissions by almost 95 %. And a special cleaning system prevents the entrainment of other species of flora and fauna in the ballast water tanks.
