The Employer Driven Curriculum (EDC) approach is best utilized when an employer has a minimum of 15 highly skilled
positions that they need to fill. The EDC model includes collaborating with a local training resource, such as a
community college, to produce a condensed and tailored curriculum that is delivered to a cohort of veterans. A Swords
staff member serves as the Project Manager and leads the recruitment effort which may include internal recruitment,
utilizing a social media campaign, reaching out to our veteran network and community partners. Swords pre-screens all
veterans prior to enrollment which may include meeting one-on-one, assessing skills and background, testing,
and mock interviews.

Job Brokering is best utilized when an employer has one or two open positions. The employer will
partner with a Swords Job Developer to understand the employment needs and company culture.
The Job Developer will deliver resumes of pre-screened and qualified veterans, and help the
employer throughout the hiring process.

A Strategic Hiring Event is best utilized when an employer has at least five positions to fill. The
employer partners with a Swords staff member who will serve as a Project Manager. Once the
employer determines the skills and background requirements, Swords will lead recruitment which
may include internal recruitment, a social media campaign, and reaching out to our veteran network
and community partners. Swords will pre-screen all veterans by meeting with them one-on-one,
assessing skills and background, testing, and mock interviews. Once a pool of veteran candidates are
identified, they will attend the Strategic Hiring Event where the employer will interview the
veterans and make hiring decisions.

The Veteran Apprenticeship Program (VAP) is best suited for an employer or multiple employers
who have an immediate hiring need of multiple similarly skilled positions. The employer must be
willing to commit to hiring and training veterans in both a classroom and on-the-job training
setting. Swords leads the recruitment effort which may include internal recruitment, utilizing a
social media campaign, and reaching out to our veteran network and community partners.
Swords will also pre-screen all veterans which may include meeting one-on-one, assessing skills
and background, and testing. Swords assesses the veteran participants at the beginning to
identify supportive services needed to ensure successful completion and remove
barriers to success.
