1. Introduction: How to create a website.
2. The utility of a website.
3. Different programs to create a website.
4. How to create a blog.
5. Differences between a website and a blog.
INTRODUCTION
 To create a website we only need a program where we
can put all that we want.
 When we create websites, we have to use suitable
special languages such as HyperText Markup
Language (HTML).
UTILITIES OF A WEBSITE
Thanks to the Web, both your business information, products and services may be
available to more than 700 million people. It is estimated that this is the number of
Internet users (web, email and other services) worldwide.
DIFFERENT PROGRAMS TO
CREATE A WEBSITE
 There are a lot of programes to create a website. Some
are free, like www.paginawebgratis.es
 There are other web maker services that offer you more
advantages, but you have to pay for them. One of them
is 1and1.
HOW TO CREATE A BLOG
 Creating a blog is easier than creating a website.
 A well-known service to create blogs is blogger.com.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A
WEBSITE AND A BLOG
 A blog is easier to make than a web and it is faster to
update.
ESSENTIAL PRINCIPLES FOR
DESIGNING WEBSITES
 Name or title
 Composition
 Colour combinations
 Visual impact
 Hyperlinks
 Contact details
 Organisation of pages
NAME OR TITLE
 It identifies the theme of the website.
 It represents part of the data used by search engines
when a user searches for information related to the
subject of the site.
 In a browser, the name of a site always appears in the
title bar.
COMPOSITION
 The contents of a website should be well balanced and
easy to view.
 Tables with rows and columns are a useful to present
information.
 Webpages should not be too long.
 If there is a lot of content, it should be organised over
several pages.
COLOUR COMBINATIONS
 In some websites, it can be difficult to read the text
because the colours of both the background and the
font have not been carefully chosen.
 This is particularly important if you decide to use an
image as background.
 WHITE –BLACK RED –YELLOW BLUE-WHITE
BLACK-WHITE GREEN-YELLOW BLUE –GREEN
RED – ORANGE GREEN-BLUE
VISUAL IMPACT
 Careful combinations of text formats and images is
also fundamental in designing websites .
 Moving images, known as gif animation and dynamic
text, can be included.
 These elements can give a website more energy and
dynamism.
HYPERLINKS
Hyperlinks are links that you can insert in words or
images.There are two types:
 External links to other related sites.
 Internal links to other parts of the same site.
CONTACT DETAILS
 It is not recommended to include personal details on a
website.
 Links with users can be established by other
means, for example a suggestion box.
ORGANISATION DETAILS
Two of the most common types of organisation details
are:
 LINEAR: One page is linked to the next one, as in a
magazine.
 HIERARCHICAL: Links to other webpages of interest
are included on the main page.
CONCLUSIONS
 Websites have more advantages than blogs.
 With websites, you can promote businesses, provide
products and many more things.
