Launched by President Xi and initiative by SGCC in 2015, the initiative is a 30 year plan to establish a global interconnected robust and smart grid with Ultra High Voltage grid as backbone. It consists of smart Grid, Ultra High Voltage Grid for long distance energy transition and clean energy. It has an overall objective to 1）increase global clean energy consumption to 80%by 2050, reduce carbon emission to 11.5 billion metric tons and 2) Increase electrification level in the world to the maximum level.
