2. Cinema
Cinema is changing audiences
perception and expectations a lot at
the moment because its reproducing
old movies and stories but in a much
more mythical manner which is
changing the audiences expectations
of other films as its forcing films to
be more creative with their storyline
and more fantasy.
This image shows all the avengers which have
been at the tip of the rising theme of
superheroes especially with many of them
having their own movies to give depth and
background. This is useful for my film trailer
because the recent superhero films have all
been successful leaving the audience with a
good view point. This will help me to grab
audiences attention and make it easier to
create interest. However I will need to make
sure to look into superhero film
characteristics such as showing ‘both sides of
the coin’ of their life
This is an image of Life Of Pi which has not
necessarily influenced me but has made me
more aware of the types of filming that can
be used. This film in my opinion is filmed to
perfection as it is filmed as if he is reliving
his past events. This technique is something
I could consider using in my film as
Rorschach has already featured in The
Watchmen then I could do my film trailer
using the same technique as if he was
reliving his childhood.
3. Fashion
This image shows a simplistic view of
fashion in the sense that games such as
the newly released GTA 5 are
incorporating threads in which it allows
the gamer to change the clothing of their
characters. This is a clear indication that
fashion is a massive influence over
different media’s. The image shows the 3
different gamer controlled characters all
dressed differently and can all be dressed
in varieties of clothing going down to
details such as sunglasses! This is not
something I should incorporate into my
film trailer but definitely highlights
something I need to be very aware of.
This is a movie called The Godfather
which was a massive influence on
fashion and highlights a lot of important
trends. The films most iconic fashion
trend is the suits with a rose in the top
pocket which created connotations of a
crime leader or in this case a mafia boss.
As Rorschach eventually becomes a
vigilante fighting crime, fashion of this
topic is essential to create an overall
view of the characters involved with
Rorschach’s storyline.
This image really defines how
much artwork and cartoon has
an effect on stereotypical
fashion. This shows a bully
wearing a colour with
connotations of danger along
with a skull whilst being much
bigger than the kid he is picking
on. This shaped fashion
because it makes bullies
stereotypically have clothing on
to show off their dominance
and connote danger and
strength with violence.
4. Video Games
This screenshot to me is more about
HOW it is taken. It shows the violence
from a low-angle shot and the
proximity of the image is towards the
left. This is a nice effect because it
adds dominance to the violence whilst
giving the audience a sense of
location. The proximity is important
because the person closer to the
camera is made to feel like the
audience is meant to support him and
gives him larger importance to the
audience even though he is
committing an act of violence which in
my opinion would be a great thing to
consider using in my film trailer.
I like this screenshot of in game play and
although it is nothing to do with the
subject of my film trailer I like the black
and white dark style to it but most of all I
like the point of view camera angle in
which they’ve used to put the audience in
the characters place which could potential
be useful for my film trailer for any scenes
of confrontation.
I find the style of this screenshot breathe-
taking as it is not only a great form of
showing location in detail but also is used as
a form of anchorage of Batman as it shows
much of his character such as him being
mysterious but also watching over Gotham.
This would be a great technique to
incorporate into my film trailer as Rorschach
has the same style as Batman however him
being a vigilante would give me the
opportunity to use the technique in a more
menacing way.
