Fully networked with both rotary and fixed wing carriers coupled with
a knowledge of aircraft operating performance could result in
identifying more efficient solutions to your supply chain needs.
9. HELICOPTER SUPPORT - A VITAL LINK IN THE SUPPLY
CHAIN.
Using helicopters to deliver essential life support goods to remote
locations could be the only option available for delivering; fuel, perishable
food goods, ammunition, mail, personnel and medical supplies.
Logistics planning is key to success and the supply chain plan to military
forward operating bases or commercial business sites (mining, energy
sites) should consider the potential for boarder closures, damaged
infrastructure, impassable road systems and seasonal weather conditions
that prevent surface supply routes.
Aid agencies and non-government organizations such as the United
Nations call for a contingency 'air plan' to form part of an overall Supply
Chain bid.
10. COMMERCIAL PLANNING.
Commercial planning; tender RFIs will request the estimated costs of activating any such air plan.
Consideration should include the following as a minimum:
Most efficient aircraft type suitable to the task
Max payload carrying capacity for the area of operations
Positioning and de-positioning costs to relocate air assets
Number of Crews and engineering support
Crew costs, daily per diems, hotel, transport
Aircraft Block hour rates, Fuel rate, Security / guarding costs
Aviation management staff, schedulers, flight planners, quality assurance managers
Ground handling equipment, forklifts, specialist loading vehicles
Replacement aircraft due scheduled services or Adhoc repair
Upgrades to Aircraft parking aprons
The same plan should include costs for both tactical fixed wing and rotary aircraft.
