16. LEARNING OUTCOME 3 #HASHTAGS
• Use hashtags effectively to connect with other people and reach a larger targeted audience
• Write the # then your word or number combination
• Do not use special characters (!*) or spaces in a hashtag; only_underscore will keep the tag ‘live’
• Make sure you leave a space BEFORE the hashtag – otherwise it will not be ‘live’
• Is the tag a ‘guessable’ word?
• A side comment or note? A highlight? An event tag?
• Ask for the ‘official hashtag’ if you are attending an event and stick to it
• MAXIMUM OF 2 HASHTAGS on a tweet (more looks like spam)
#VividIdeas @bronwynhemsley @UONSydney
17. HASHTAG STYLE – LIMIT TO TWO ON A TWEET
• #Word
• #TwoWords
• #Two_Words
• #As_Many_Words_As_You_Like
• #Words123 (word and numbers)
• #SideComment
• #ConfYEAR
• #Tvshow
• #CityEvent
• Hashtag Games (look at #IfBondMoviesWereAustralian)
18. ACTIVITY: EXPRESSIVE MODE - TWEETING
• Write a tweet! (or 3)
• Include a Twitter handle (@user)
• Include a hashtag (#word)
• Copy and paste in a link (website)
• Try inserting a GIF or a picture from your camera roll!
• Reply to yourself and write another one – you are now
‘linking’ tweets in a ‘thread’.
#VividIdeas @bronwynhemsley @UONSydney
19. ACTIVITY: RECEPTIVE MODE
FOLLOWING CONVERSATIONS (EXPANDING)
• Find a tweet in your tweet-stream that is ‘replying to @user’
• Click on the tweet – it will expand the conversation (easier to follow)
• You will see the tweet that the person is replying to
#VividIdeas @bronwynhemsley @UONSydney
20. FUN
• Gifs (for example – to create - https://giphy.com/)
• Emojis
• Tone and accent
• Adding context
#VividIdeas @bronwynhemsley @UONSydney
