       to President
    By: Catharine Sadler
Commander in Chief
   formal power
         g During Reagan’s presidency he
              face the challenge of
              Communism growing from
              Russia and Cuba.
g In October 1983, the government
              of Grenada was overthrown and
              the island’s military assumed
                   island’s
              control. In response, President
              Reagan ordered American troops
              to invade.
g He used his power as Commander
in Chief of the army to help
              Grenada restore it’s parliamentary
              government, which continues to
              hold free elections today.

Mr. Personality
                          informal power
g Ronald Reagan was first an
  actor before being elected
  president.
g With his acting skills he was
  more comfortable in front of
  a camera then any other
  president.
g He used this skill to
  mandate power. He allowed
  himself to go on television
  and express his ideas with
  the American public.

Head of State
g Head of State comes with some
    boring jobs and speeches that
oresidents are required to give. It
also has some fun traditions with
it. Like throwing the first pitch at
    any selected baseball game.

g Reagan made a stop at Wrigley
Field. He threw out the first pitch
for the Chicago Cubs, and spent
some time in the broadcast booth
    alongside Harry Caray.

g Picture comes from the same website.
g "Chicago Cubs History and News." Chicago Cubs History
and News - Welcome to Just One Bad Century. N.p., n.d.
    Web. 22 June 2012.

    ty_fans_32.asp>.
Chief Executive
        g Being Chief Executive required
          Reagan to help Congress enforce
          laws and create new laws
          focusing on taxes, housing,
          floods, and civil righs.
g Reagan got the Congress to
          approve the Economic Recovery
Tax Act of 1981 which allowed
him to reduce the federal income
          tax to 25 percent.

g This was enforcing his role as
             Chief Executive.

Le Style de Reagan
g President Reagan was
  known as “the Great
  Communicator” for
  delivering messages
  through TV during his time.
g He showed the style of
  being a good communicator
  by actually telling America
  what his ideas were.
g He “sold” his ideas to the
  people by broadcasting
  them.
