On Monday, 23rd January 2012 the fifteenth annual Sir John T. Gilbert Commemorative Lecture was held at Dublin City Library and Archive, Pearse Street. Councillor Dermot Lacey, deputising for The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Andrew Montague, was chairman for the evening. City Librarian, Margaret Hayes, welcomed the capacity audience and introduced the Lord Mayor. The fifteenth Gilbert lecture was delivered by Brendan Twomey. Brendan Twomey has published many books on history of Dublin including Dublin in 1707: A year in the life of the city (2009) and Smithfield and the Parish of St Paul, Dublin 1698-1750.
