Technology Action Plan
1. Elizabeth Alumbaugh EDLD 5352 Technology Action Plan As we advance into the 21st Century, technology will continue to play an ever-increasingly important role in our education system. Consequently, schools must place an emphasis on the technology sections of their Campus Improvement Plans. After reviewing the technology goals listed in both Campus and District Improvement Plans, I established the following plan of action for expanding the utilization and implementation of technology at Oak Ridge High School. According to the results of the Texas STaR Chart, Oak Ridge is weakest in the domains of Teaching and Learning and Education Preparation and Development. We need to concentrate on integrating technology into all aspects of instruction in the curriculum. Focus needs to be placed on using technology to enhance student learning and promote higher order thinking skills. In addition, we must develop staff competency in technology. Professional development is essential in this process. Teachers will show evidence of meeting these objectives through walk-throughs, observations, and lesson plans. They will show record of attending staff developments. Many personnel, at both the district and campus level, will be responsible for assisting Oak Ridge in expanding the utilization and implementation of technology. Our Instructional Technology Coordinator will facilitate the effective use of computers and other technology in instructional programs district wide. She will assist in the development of short- and long-range plans for the integration of technology into the instructional program. She will implement and coordinate technology staff development and training programs. Our Campus Instructional Technologist will provide training to staff to facilitate the effective use of technology in instructional programs at the campus level. She will provide technical support in the use of hardware and software to multiple campuses. Our principal will play an active role in making sure the action plan is implemented and monitored. He will communicate his vision of Oak Ridge staff and students becoming skilled, knowledgeable, independent, and self-directed learners who are comfortable with and proficient in using technology in all its forms as information resources. Moreover, he will share his expectations for meeting the objectives set forth in the campus action plan.
