READ Proverbs 22:3 DAY 1
Have you ever found yourself staring at something, but minutes pass and you suddenly realize you’ve
been staring, but not really looking? Sometimes danger is right in front of our faces, but we’re not
actively looking at the consequences of our actions, so we don’t see it. If we would take the time to
really look before we act, we might change our mind.
Ask a parent for two pieces of paper, some tape and some kind of string or thread. Roll the two pieces of
paper up into rolls that look like binoculars and tape them together. Then tape the string or thread to the
binoculars to make it look like a strap. Hang the binoculars somewhere in your room to remind you to
look before you leap.
THANK God for giving us eyes to see the wise choice.
READ Proverbs 13:10
DAY 2
It can be hard to admit we need help. We like to think we have all the answers or can figure it out on our own.
So it can be especially hard when someone offers us advice that we didn’t ask for. And if we’re not careful, our
pride can cause us to ignore wise advice.
Set up an obstacle course for yourself with objects in your room (nothing sharp!). Put a blindfold over your
eyes, or just close them and try to do it all alone. How’d you do? Now ask a parent or sibling to guide you by
telling you where to go and how to avoid the obstacles. How did it go that time? Better? Sometimes even if
you’re looking before you leap, you just can’t see the path clearly. It’s always wise to take advice from those
who can see where you’re headed.

READ Proverbs 15:31
DAY 3
Grab a box of something from your pantry that most of your family would enjoy, but empty it out and close it
back up so it still looks full. Then get a piece of fruit or a veggie. Go around to your family and ask them to pick
one to eat. Be sure and give them wise advice on which one to pick. See how many people take your advice!
If you were the one choosing which food to eat and you chose the empty box, no big deal. But sometimes in
life, the choices are much bigger and the consequences are much greater. Having wise people around you who
can give advice is a very wise thing to do—just be sure and listen to what they say!

to those who are wise for advice.
DAY 4
READ Psalm 37:7-9
“That makes my blood boil” doesn’t really mean that your blood is boiling; it’s a phrase that means
something makes you very angry. Ask a parent for help boiling a full glass of water in the microwave.
Watch it as it boils and let it boil over. Then open the microwave, but don’t get it out until it cools off!
If you were to reach in and try to grab the boiling water, you’d regret it immediately. If something is
boiling, it can hurt everyone it touches. Your anger can be the same way—if you react in anger when
someone hurts you, you can hurt others and yourself.
KNOW
that God is in control, so you don’t have to get even.
