And as meeting planners have been called to me from the world of logistics to meeting strategy. CVBs have stepped up to move from just a source of destination information to become more consultative in helping you get the most from the destination to support your meeting objectives.

I want you to comment here from an industry perspective, how CVBs have gone from just being information and referral service providers to destination consultants who can help planners strategically approach sourcing, planning and servicing for their meeting. Please make your own notes, but here are so ideas…
Planners have gone from logistics to strategy and CVBs have stepped up to respond moving from being primarily informational to more consultative. Requires us to be good listeners, have keen understanding of the destination’s offerings and then be the ultimate match makers for a successful meeting or event.
Examples:
Using CVBs to get destination demand factors prior to sending the RFP can save time, frustration and increase your negotiations leverage.
Using the CVB to plan your site visit will narrow down the best properties to see and the most effective way to see them.
Using a CVB to give you access to local speakers, docents for spouse programs, music, art and food can all add destination flavor and uniqueness to your meeting.
Having a relationship with a CVB on the front end makes sure someone has your back…helping you to foresee pitfalls and take advantage of perhaps unseen opportunities in the destination.
