10. 2. Social - No birth control or family planning. Families hope that more children will survive childhood and support the parents in old age. Children are a sign of virility in some cultures.
11. 3. Political - Muslim and Catholic Governments encourage large families and do not provide much education about family planning.
12. During stage 2 the birth rate remains high but the death rate starts to fall to about 20 per 1000 people. By the end of this stage, both rates are very different. This gives a high natural increase and a rapid growth in population live.
