- TRLN lent a total of 40,749 items among its members in 2010/2011 8,453 were direct borrows 23,250 were returnables (e.g. books) 9,046 were non-returnables (e.g. copies of articles) 2009/2010 = 43,138 2008/2009 = 29,748 2007/2008 = 24,065 2006/2007 = 22,408 2005/2006 = 24,806
- Nobody would argue with those – the trick and the key is actually changing strategies and practices based on realities and likely scenarios. Way we meet these core roles is changing quickly.

- Faced with the choice to deliver a slice of content in a localized environment and ability to offer exponentially more content from a variety of sources – most of us, particularly users, will choose the latter to be able to get more content. Creates opportunities related to sense-making. Getting content to users in the way they want to consume it is one of our greatest challenges and opportunities. “ Web browser’s dominance is coming to a close. - * Actually, I have one place that we might start – or perhaps this is too tough an area to begin – re-defining resource sharing and re-distributing those costs throughout the system to support the ecosystem of scholarly publishing.
