13. Understand Call numbers … Call numbers: Tell you WHERE an item is located in the library. WHAT the item is about. Are made up of letters, numbers, and decimals.
14. Anatomy of a Call Number G154.5.G55A32006 This is the Call Number for this year’s Bobcat Read selection: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. G154.5 indicates the subject of the book, and is the first clue in your search for the item. .G55 A3 indicates the author’s last name. (Note: The second part of a call number should be read as a DECIMAL. i.e. .444 comes before .52) 2006 indicates the year of publication
