18. Everyone’s still in the dark about what happened to Freddie
Gray
The Baltimore Police Department completed its investigation into
the death of Freddie Gray today, but it's not sharing any details
with the public. The 25-year-old black man died April 19 after
suffering a spinal injury while in police custody. The department
turned its findings over to the state's attorney, who will decide
whether charges will be brought against any of the six suspended
police officers involved in Gray's arrest. No timetable has been
set for the decision. Separately, something the public did just
learn was that a prisoner who shared a police van with Gray says
he heard Gray "banging against the walls" and believed he was
intentionally trying to injure himself. The statement from the
unidentified prisoner was reported by The Washington Post. The
newspaper noted that while the two were sharing a van, they were
separated by a metal partition and couldn't see one another.
