This document presents a study on developing an efficient and effective vibration monitoring system for bridge structures in rural areas. The system was tested on a railway overbridge in Salem district, India that experiences high traffic. Sensors were installed to monitor vibrations from passing vehicles and trains. Testing was done using both an expensive LabVIEW system and a cheaper Arduino system, and results showed they produced similar vibration data. The monitoring system aims to detect structural damages early, monitor load distributions, and send alerts to authorities to enhance bridge safety and lifespan. Energy is harvested from solar panels and human foot traffic to power the low-cost, sustainable monitoring solution.
