November is the time of year that reminds
me to show gratitude more freely. I would
like to take this opportunity to thank all of
you who supported the Auction last month.
We could not have accomplished such a
great event without the generosity of so
many! My heartfelt thanks goes to Julie
Sanders and Nicole Meyer for putting on
such a wonderful event.
President’s Message I would also like to thank those who serve
on the Executive Board. They have
donated a lot of time on behalf of Women

Drum Roll… 2012 Women in Business Annual Auction Results
Well, Ladies – CONGRATULATIONS! We accomplished our goal and surpassed last year’s auction
proceeds by $279, raising an impressive $1,916 (2012: 46 donated items = $1,916; 2011: 52 donated
items = $1,637) – not bad for a one-hour silent and live auction! One hundred percent of the proceeds
from the auction, nearly $2,000, go directly into the 2013 scholarship fund to be awarded to women
who are pursuing their education in a business related field.
If you are new to Women in Business and as a general review to members, below are the criteria and
requirements for the annual scholarship program. Advertising and application distribution will begin in
January, and applications are accepted through mid-March. If you know a woman who meets the
criteria and requirements be sure to encourage them to apply. Last year Women in Business awarded
$8,000 in scholarships, the largest accumulative dollar amount to date.
Thank you to all members who donated items, those who attended the auction luncheon and who
purchased items – this would not have been possible without your support. Also, thanks to Riverwoods
Conference Center for donating the room, Elements for catering the lunch at their cost, and to our
auctioneer, Chance Getz, for donating his time and good nature. Everyone’s generosity is
acknowledged and appreciated!
Thank you all so much,
Julie Sanders, 2012/2013 Past Scholarship Chair
