2. Time Warner Cable 2010 AHL All-Star Game
History of the AHL All-Star Classic
The AHL All-Star Classic showcases the league’s top talent each year at the All-Star Skills Competition and the All-Star Game.
The 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic will be held at the Cumberland County Civic Center Monday and Tuesday
January 18th – 19th and will feature the Canadian AHL All-Stars battling the PlanetUSA All-Stars in a game to be televised
throughout the United States and Canada to an expected Cable TV audience of more than 100 million households.
Since 1995, more than 93% of the players who have appeared in the AHL All-Star Game have played in the National Hockey
League.
In 2003, Portland served as host of the Dodge AHL All-Star Classic and saw two consecutive sell-out nights for All-Star festivities.
More than 50 million households throughout the United States and Canada had access to both nights of events on numerous
sports networks.
Given the increased popularity of the AHL since 2003, this year’s event is sure to be another great spectacle. The fact that the
league has selected the city of Portland and, specifically, the Portland Pirates franchise, to host the game twice in 7 years, speaks
volumes to the confidence that the league has in both the Portland Pirates organization and the community of Portland as a
whole.
Come be a part of the excitement as the All-Stars come to Portland again in 2010!
