This document provides an overview of the IT systems and services available to University of Sheffield students. It discusses how to access the university portal MUSE to use email and library services. It also covers connecting computers and phones to the wireless network, using uSpace for collaboration, printing from personal devices, and getting technical support. Resources for producing coursework and presentations are also outlined.

• You have access to a ‘U’ drive whilst a student
• Access it from any University computer
• Secure
• Safe

Saving your work
• If you use a USB drive make sure you save the
work elsewhere as well
• If you store files on your personal computer
backup to a CD, DVD or USB drive as well.

wireless connection or wired access
• Wireless access via Eduroam network

• Install iPrint software.

• If your phone has wireless access you can:
• Connect to eduroam for the internet
• Check your University emails
• Use CampusM software:
• CampusM for iPhone and iPod Touch
• CampusM for Blackberry
• CampusM via Web Browser (for all phones)

• Alerts – Receive alerts and announcements.
• View your exam and course timetable.
• View your course information.
• Friend Locator – see where friends are on the campus and contact them to
meet up.
• View your library record – see your charges summary and which books are
reserved, requested, booked and loaned.
• Campus Maps & Locations using GPS – find your way around University
Buildings and check PC availability in Open Access Rooms.
• View & Subscribe to News & Events
• Search the University Directory – call or email contacts and add them
directly to the phone’s address book.
