Heart is situated in
the thoracic
cavity, in between
the two lungs
5. PERICARDIUM
Heart is protected by a double
walled membraneous bag,
Pericardium, enclosing the
pericardial fluid.
6. CHAMBERS OF THE HEART
Heart has four chambers
Two small upper chambers called
ATRIA
Two larger lower chambers called
VENTRICLES
7. CUSPID VALVES
The opening between the left atrium
and the left ventricle is guarded by a
valve, Bicuspid valve
The opening between the right
atrium and the right ventricle is
guarded by a valve, Tricuspid valve
8. FUNCTIONS OF CUSPID VALVES
Cuspid valves allows the
flow of blood only in
one direction, i.e., from
atria to ventricle
