Heart is situated in
the thoracic
cavity, in between
the two lungs

5. PERICARDIUM
Heart is protected by a double
walled membraneous bag,
Pericardium, enclosing the
pericardial fluid.

6. CHAMBERS OF THE HEART
Heart has four chambers
Two small upper chambers called
ATRIA
Two larger lower chambers called
VENTRICLES

7. CUSPID VALVES
The opening between the left atrium
and the left ventricle is guarded by a
valve, Bicuspid valve
 The opening between the right
atrium and the right ventricle is
guarded by a valve, Tricuspid valve

8. FUNCTIONS OF CUSPID VALVES
Cuspid valves allows the
flow of blood only in
one direction, i.e., from
atria to ventricle
