Romulus and Remus
• Romulus and Remus are twins.
Their parents are Rhea and Mars
that are gods. The other gods are
jeaolus,so they are making a plot
to kill them. Mars is away so Rhea
put their sons on a basket and put
it on a river to save them. As the
boys grow into manhood,they
decide yo build a city and rule as
its king. They don`t decide who is
the king,so Romulus kill
Remus,and he become king.
• The name of ROME came from
their names.
Roman Monarchy: Etruscan Kings
• Etruscans were the people of the
pre-roman etruscans civilization.
• They were the first in the region to
establish a central government
that exercised control over all the
tribes and clans.
• Etruscan art was mostly related to
religion,funeral and rituals.
• The religion played a very
important role in their lives.
• Etruscans involved themselves in
trade and agriculture.
Roman Senate
• The governing and
advisory council that
proved to be the most
permanent element in the
Roman constitution.
Under the early monarchy
the Senate developed as
an advisory council. With
the abolition of the
monarchy in Rome in 509
bc, the Senate became the
advisory council of the
consuls
Punic Wars With Carthage
• The three Punic Wars between Carthage
and Rome began in 264 B.C. and ended
with the destruction of Carthage.
• The First Punic War broke out in 264 B.C.
when Rome interfered in a dispute on the
Carthaginian-controlled island of Sicily.
• In the Second Punic War the great
Carthaginian general Hannibal invaded
Italy. Cannae left Rome in control of
Mediterranean and Spain.
• Third Punic War, the Romans, captured
and destroyed the city of Carthage turning
Africa into another province of the mighty
Roman Empire.
Caesar
• At the age og 40 Caesar was
elected consul. He served for
one year,and he became
governor of the province of
Gaul.
• Some people in Rome ploted
to kill Caesar.
• While in Egypt he fell in love
with the queen of
Egypt,Cleopatra. He helped
her to become pharaoh. They
had a child named Caesarion.
The Roman Empire
• Octavian became Caesar Augustus,he was the
first emperor.
Caligula
• Caligula is remembered as one of the cruelest
roman emperors.
• He became famous for madness and brutality.
• He murdered a lot of people,and he humillated
the Senate.
• He appointed his favorite horse as high priest.
• He was eventually assassinated by his
bodyguards. His fourth wifes and his
daughter,were murdered at the same time.
