This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of anxiety and sports performance of official basketball players at Sisters of Mary School-Boystown. The researchers hypothesized that there is no significant relationship between anxiety levels and sports performance. They administered psychological and sports performance surveys to 35 basketball players and analyzed the data using statistical methods. The findings revealed the anxiety levels, sports performance levels, and whether a significant relationship exists between the two variables.

exist between the level of anxiety and sports performance of the
official basketball players in the Sisters of Mary School-
Boystown, Inc. Tungkop, Minglanilla, Cebu school year 2019-
2020.
This research sought to answer the following questions:

basketball players?
2.What is the sports performance of the basketball athletes
based on psychological performance and inventory?
3.Are the level of anxiety and sports performance significantly

the level of anxiety and sports
performance of the official basketball
players.
HYPOTHESIS
6. The theory of vitality entails that vitality influences the future capacity for
performance. An athlete has a baseline vitality, with which to work and
won’t astray far from it, means that the theory of vitality implies that
every athlete gets away from it through active participation.
When an athlete is affected by some factors such as anxiety, it would
have a great effect on the athletes future capacity performance. Action or
effects that vitality and either thwart or satisfy the players need. If the
players love a game and keeps winning, their intrinsic enjoyment is
satisfied, their vitality rises and he/she is motivated to continue.

Research.
RESEARCH METHOD AND DESIGN
This research specifically incorporated the
Correlational Design wherein this design
looks for variables that seem to interact with
each other.
10. The respondents of the study were all the 35
official basketball players of the Sisters of Mary
School-Boystown Inc. at Tungkop, Minglanilla,
Cebu School Year 2019-2020.Indeed, they were
chosen because they experienced competing
various team, as the school’s representative.

12. RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS
The researchers adapted 2 scales as the research
instruments from Jimbolby, Michael Shread, Anna and
Van Wersh and first published on August 1, 20017 from
page 309-325(Psychological Performance Inventory)
and the Sports Anxiety Scale(SAS) from Smith and
others (2006). Thus, this study used this to determine
the level of anxiety that the players are experiencing
(mild, moderate, severe or panic-level of anxiety)
according to a psychiatric nurse, Hilldegarg E. Peplau.
13. VALIDATON OF INSTRUMENT
The 2 scales adapted would help assess if the
variables investigated were significantly related.
Indeed, instruments were forwarded to the academic
teachers for feedbacks and suggestions and were
then content validated by Loer’ s (1986) Classic
Research, that widely alluded to as a critical variable
in the popular media and apllied sport psychology.
14. Phase 1. Preparation Stage. The researchers will prepare and
search adopted instruments done by the experts to be used
in collecting and gathering the needed data for the research.
Phase 2. Permission Stage. The researchers will humbly ask
permission from the School Head to conduct the study to
the selected official basketball players during the study time.
Before negotiating the respondents full consent of their
mother-sisters is extremely needed thus presenting the
letter signed by the School Head is essential.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
15. Phase 3. Data Gathering Stage. After, the researchers will give
allotted and appropriate time in administering the questionnaires
to the selected respondents.
Phase 4. Data Analysis Stage. The questionnaires will be collected
from the respondents, and the data gathered will be organized
and analyzed using appropriate statistical tools.

16. STATISTICAL TREATMENT
• Frequency count-was used to describe how often a certain
data appears and also used to determine the level of anxiety
and the (level of ) sports performance.
• Percentages-used to know the percentage of the level of
anxiety and the sports performance of the official basketball
players.
• Standard Deviation- was utilized to show how level of anxiety
and sports performance scattered with respect to the mean.
• Mean- used to get the scores of the likert scale.(name of first
