Introduction
Solar energy refers to the energy generated from the sun which is used to power
equipments for personal and business use. The use of solar energy for human use was discovered
centuries ago, but its usage is still limited in the present time where demand for energy is ever
increasing. The confined usage of solar power may due its availability in the daytime and
requirement of heavy equipments for transfer of power (Attia, 2012). The growing energy needs
and demands in the present context as well as increasing environmental concerns have forced to
look for alternative sources of energy. The process of availing power is very simple and that is
through the sun. It has been estimated that sun creates power through a thermonuclear process
that converts about 650,000,000 tons of hydrogen to helium in every second. This process
generates heat and electromagnetic radiation (Baggaley, 2015). The heat remains in the sun and
is used in maintaining the thermonuclear reaction. The sun produces the electromagnetic
radiation in the form of visible lights. A small portion of total radiation reaches to the earth.
There are multiple uses of solar energy in human life. The most important usage is
growing of trees and plants and vegetations for human consumption. The sun rays are consumed
by human skin to produce Vitamin D. Solar power can be used to cook food, power machineries,
water pumps, vehicles and much more (González-Pardo, 2013). The use of solar power is infinite
and its usage is totally clean and renewable.
Despite its well known usage by the human beings, the solar power is still not fully
utilized. The major reason could be its availability in the daytime. The requirement of energy in
human life for various purposes is unlimited, whereas the availability of solar power is confined.
This study aims to identify other reasons and find out ways through solar power can be fully
utilized and consumed (Nandwani, 2006). In addition to this, importance of solar power to light
multiple areas of human life will be also being focused.
2
Rationale of the study
The purpose of this study is to identity the ways through which solar energy can be fully
optimized and its use can be maximized. In the modern times where need and demand for energy
is increasing on daily basis, it becomes important that alternative sources of energies are
identified and their uses should begin (Nandwani, 2006). The research project will aim to
propose a system through which solar energy can be easily transported to the kitchens for
cooking.
Research Aims & Objectives
The aim of this research paper is to determine ways of optimizing solar power and design a
system for transporting solar energy to the kitchens. The main objective of the study is to
propose a system for transferring heat from sun to the cooking load in the kitchen
Research Questions
The researcher will answer the following questions to achieve the aims and objectives of the
research -
 How can the transportation of solar energy be optimised using an efficient energy
transport mechanism?
 To investigate and propose a design of an efficient heat transport system?
 What is the role of heat exchanger, flow measurement and monitoring and control system
in developing an optimised solar power energy transport system?
3
Proposed research methodology
The research project on solar energy will be carried out in systematic format through
preparation of research methodology. The two important part of the study are explained in brief -
Data collection
Solar energy is well known topic despite its limited uses. Taking into account the aims
and objectives, it has been decided to collect information from multiple sources to analyze its
limited uses. Thus data from both primary and secondary sources will be obtained. In order to
collect primary data, questionnaire survey method will be used which consists of both open and
close ended questions (González-Pardo, 2013). Secondary data sources involve internet research
and books, journals and earlier case study.
Data analysis
Based on the methods of data collection and aim of the study, qualitative techniques will
be used to study the results and conclude the findings. This technique enables the researcher to
understand the limited use of solar power and determine ways through which it can be used in
various areas of human life (Baggaley, 2015).
Limitations
The research topic is new for the researcher and is also time bound. It is possible that
certain limitations and issues may affect the project work. It is expected that data collection and
analysis present some issues as there are limited uses of solar energy in both household and
business areas. There is also probability that the researcher will find difficulty in collecting
information from the residents due to limited knowledge and awareness about the solar energy
(Attia, 2012). Despite these issues, the researcher will ensure that aims and objectives of the
study will be met through ethical means.
Time Scale
The research project is part of academic study which allows limited time to prepare and
present to the instructor. It is thus important that all activities of the project must be listed down
to track the progress of the work. Given the limited time, the researcher will carry out important
tasks on priority basis to allow enough time for preparation and presentation. Majority of time
will be allocated for data analysis and conclusion and recommendations. Following is provided
the breakdown of the project details -
