2. An Object’s Tendency to Resist
Change
An object at rest, stays at rest.
An object in motion, stays in
motion with the same speed
and direction unless acted
upon by an unbalanced force.
4. Where Did it Come From?
Galileo theorized that an object
moving at a constant speed was
just as natural as an object at
rest.
Aristotle believed that a force
was needed to move an
object, and there was a
positive correlation between
the two.
5. Sir Isaac Newton Put Things
Together
Newton acknowledged that
the vertical force (gravity)
would always affect an
object’s motion.
While Aristotle believed the laws
of motion were different for space
and Earth, Newton believed they
were the same.
7. What Is The Difference Between
Mass And Weight?
Mass – The quantity of matter
in an object.
Weight – The force on an
object due to gravity.
8. Weight will change when gravity
changes but mass will always stay
the same
9. If and object is at rest or if it is
moving at a constant velocity
it is in EQUILIBRIUM
10. Also, teaching inertia gives you the
chance to show your kids some
magic…
If nothing breaks
