 You will need to be able to recognise when evidence is used in texts.,[object Object]
Where can you get evidence? A persuasive essay must provide specific and convincing evidence. Often it is necessary to go beyond your own knowledge and experience. You might need to go to the library, read books, surf the internet or interview people who are experts on your topic.
Types of Evidence There are different types of evidence that can be used in a persuasive speech or essay such as: statistical or factual evidence anecdotal evidence or examples expert evidence analogical evidence Testimonial evidence
Statistical or factual evidence This evidence is real life evidence using statistics in different ways. Eg: In a lifetime, the average driver will honk 15,250 times.
Testimonial evidence or examples Just like in advertisements testimonial evidence  comes from somebody else who may not be an expert, or when a lawyer asks for an eye witness to come forward. Eg: Justin Bieber on the Proactive commercial explaining that Proactive made his pimples disappear.
Expert evidence Is evidence from somebody who is a specialist in a certain expertise so it can be trusted. Eg: Doctors name smoking one of the most serious problems of the modern society.
Analogical evidence When you don't have statistics or expert evidence to refer too you have to find the evidence by comparing it too other situations that are similar. Eg: Comparing the lifespan of people in the USA to Australia to see who has the better healthcare system
Highlight the evidence. Highlight what you believe to be evidence in the text provided.
