• Investment in safety is not a waste as it will also help in retention of
employees.
• Meet and Greet: Staff should be interactive with guests, as
interaction helps in getting the hint of any suspected
thoughts in his/her mind.
• Hotels should go for the tracking system for key cards, so that it could
be tracked i.e. whether guest entered or staff entered the room.
• Instead of monitoring each CCTV cameras, there should be activity
recognition feature so as there is any activity in the area, it just pops
out and alert the guards.
• CCTV cameras with tag and track system are more effective.
12. Conclusion
• Guest should feel like home in the hotel:
– As hotel is termed as “Home away from Home”. Because the guest is in the
hotel for luxury, meeting purpose or it could be anything, so the hotel
should provide them with the best and most comfortable environment in
terms of safety & security. Hotel might not want any guest to worry about
the these things.
• Security of guest & his property is of great concern for the hotel:
– When guest is coming to the hotel for staying a day or two in it, so it
should be their best and safest stay. Not only the guest is of concern but its
property and belongings also matter to hotel.
• Not only guest but employees also need a safer hotel to work in:
– So, it’s not just the guest who need a safer place to live in but employees
also belong to the hotel and they also require their workplace to be safe
and secure.
13. Conclusion
• Threats could be in hotel like: Fire, Robbery, Terrorism…etc
– Threats will not warn us before occurring. They could be instant and at any
point of time. Hotel staff should be ready with appropriate safety measures,
plans and equipments.
• Technology is opening new doors to hotel safety:
– As the technology is advancing everyday with pace, one also needs to keep
himself updated. In the last decade, several advancements have been done in
the safety and security department. The equipments being used are: Metal
Detectors, Baggage scanner, Smoke Detectors, Fire alarms…etc.
– But now with technology most of the equipments have upgraded. Like Hotel
room’s Metallic key to Card key and now Mobile keys.
– Smoke detectors and fire alarms combining together as one gadget.
– CCTV cameras with more reliable features.
– Time based biometric lock systems.
