Question Tags
We are not happy any more... Are we? We don't have much money...Do we? Women were more sensible in the past ....weren't they? We can't smoke freely as we could...Can we?
Las 'questiontags' son mini preguntas que aparecen al final de la oración o frase. Son equivalentes al español a: ¿Es cierto? ¿Es verdad? ¿No es así? Confirman o niegan la frase o pregunta en cuestión.
Se utilizan para mostrar interés y amabilidad en lo que alguien acaba de decir. También ayudan a mantener la conversación.
   Ejemplos:  It is beautiful...isn't it?          Es hermoso...¿verdad? We are happy...aren't we?   Somosfelices...¿cierto? It wasn't a bad film...was it?   No fueuna mala película…                                                                    …¿verdad?
Para su estructura, se utiliza el verbo principal de la oración cuando se trata del verbo  Tobe.   Si la oración es afirmativa, la questiontag  será negativa y viceversa.
Verbo “Tobe” en presente:  (am, are, is) He is a good friend, isn’ t he?     He isn’t a good friend, is he? You are tired, aren’t you ?            You  arenot tired, are you?  Caso especial:  Con :  I am, se usará aren’t  en lugar de amn’t  ( muchas  consonantes juntas). I am  eating  healthy, aren't I ?     I am not eating healthy, am I?
Verbo “Tobe” en pasado:  (was, were) Itwashotyesterday, wasn’ it?     It wasn’t  hot yesterday, was it? You were in my class , weren’t you ?            You  weren’t in my class, were you?  Nota: Es obligatoriousarcontracción en la questiontag.
Cuando se trata de otros  verbos ( no verbo “to be”), se usa los auxiliares : Do/does, did, will, can, could, should, would,  según sea el caso.  Presente simple:  You love this place, don'tyou? You don’t love this place, do you?  She likes pizza, doesn’t she?  She doesn’t like pizza, does she?
Pasado simple:  They got married last summer, didn't they? They didn’t get married last summer, did they?  Futuro Simple  Ann will be here soon, won't she? Ann won’t be here soon, will she?
Auxiliares Modales:  They can't play well, can they? They can play well, can’t  they?   You couldn't speak english, could you? You couldspeak english, couldn’t you?
I should be at work before 7:00, shouldn’t I? They wouldn’t  cut the cost of education., would they? You haven't got a car, have you?
