2. In this presentation we are going to talk
of Paulo Freire and his largest influence in
education, “critical pedagogy”, His methods
of creating knowledge and emphasize with
students.

4. WHO IS PAULO FREIRE?
• Paulo Regius Neves Freire was born on September
19th, 1921 in Recife in Brazil.
• Brazilian educator, philosopher, and influential
theorist of critical pedagogy.
• Freire was also the Coordinator of the Adult
Education Project of the Movement of Popular
Culture in Recife.
• He was concerned about the large numbers of
illiterate people.
5. Critical Pedagogy is a way of
understanding the education which is
based on a level of human relations, and
that, involves dialogue and continuous
reflection on the reality throughout the
educational process.

awareness and dialog
educating-educator, the critical
understanding and
transforming action; and the
actions of learning of the
learner must work a profound
transformation, which is the
ultimate goal of this pedagogical
trend.
7. • Freire's ideas on education reveal a new way of looking
at education and social change. Freire has given literacy
and education in general, the mission of awakening in
people, a critical conscience which enables people not only
to know what needs changing but be fully human, which
is the right of every person and not for only the
privileged few. It is this consciousness that creates the
will or the motivation in people to struggle for social
change.
