While UK Family spend 8 minutes in average
on shower *, students tend to spend more
time on shower. 53% of students take 10-20
minutes for shower, and 25% of students take
21-30 minutes, compared with 8% of students
spend more than half an hour

Electricity is the energy that students waste
most. Only 32% of students turn off the light
when leaving, and only 33% of students turn
off the laptop when leaving. The Kettle is the
most used electric device, followed by the
Microwave and the Oven

the heater when

Although the gas/heating is the most
expensive one, students still tend to keep the
heater on. Only 44% of them turn the heater
off when leaving the room
*)Unilever survey based on 2600 showers by 100 families over 10 days period, http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-15836433
Based on the survey with 40 university students live both on campus and off campus,
We concluded that the habit of energy saving is not practiced by students
3. How is the awareness of students on the clean energy
Most students have already known various technology that could be used to generate
clean energy. They also have opinions to improve the current energy saving
technology

4. How can we improve our energy saving initiative
All of the students are awared of energy saving initiative, although the percentage of
whom are actively involved is only 45%, which is considered to be smaller than we
expected.

We also design an open question to ask the students what actions could
be implemented to improve energy saving initiative in campus. Some of
selected suggestions are shown below:
1. Provide more information and inspections
Students should be advised of the importance of energy saving, how to
and why have inspections to ensure students are following energy
saving guidance. This can be performed by putting signs in public
places e.g.kitchen to remind people or reminder posters
2. Developing a proper charging system on energy-saving
This can be performed by making a change in charging system,
e.g.remove the bills of electricity, water and gas usage out of the
accommodation fees,then pay them monthly.
3. Utilizing the use of technology
For example use energy-saving devices or display usage devices
