This document presents information on a new building material called Grancrete that provides an eco-friendly and low-cost alternative to concrete construction. Grancrete is composed of locally available materials like sand, ash, and a binding mixture. It can be sprayed or poured and hardens within a few hours to form a strong, fire-resistant, and waterproof ceramic shell for building. Grancrete houses can be constructed quickly, are more durable and energy efficient than traditional buildings, and produce significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions. The material has benefits like compressive strength and freeze-thaw resistance comparable to concrete but with less environmental impact and cost.
2. (New materials for a
new world)
Now a days there is a
rising need for good
quality & eco-friendly
housing at a low cost
which does not
consume much time
for construction.
3. It is an environmental
friendly mix of locally
available chemicals ,
which is prepared
from nuclear
wastes…also acts as a
substitute for
concrete.
4. Sand & sandy soil…..50%
Ash……………………....25%
Binding material…...25%
Binding material composed of magnesium
oxide & potassium phosphate.
5. It is a tough reinforcement free ceramic building
material ,used as a replacement for concrete.
spray able ceramic stronger than concrete.
Provides good insulation in both hot & cold
climates.
Efficient & cheapest building material for the
poor.
9. Compressive strength
2 hrs………3000psi
24 hrs…….6000psi
7 days…….6500psi
28 days……6500-8000psi
Combustibility: do not burn
Flexural strength:
1,300 psi after 28 days, increased to 1,700 with
fibers
Effect of organic gases: insignificant
10. • Water absorption <1%
• Freeze thaw resistance:
durability factor of 81 at 300 cycles
• The Real conductivity:
0.53 w/m.k
• Shrinkage: none
• Expansion: 1% during setting
• Density: 2.1g/cc
• Fracture toughness: 0.6-0.7 Mpa
• Durability in water at pH:3-11
11. • Short curing time:15 to 20 mins
• Impervious to water including salt water
• Cures under water
• Long life span: 100 yrs
• Tolerates temperatures:2200oF
• Sets in cold temperatures:30oF
• Sprayed ,poured ,troweled or painted
• Does not expand or contract
14. 3.Roof is also constructed & covered with
grancrete, spay so that it becomes water tight
part of a home
15. 4. The windows ,door openings are cut out of
the foam and the frames are to be installed.
16. 5. Grancrete is sprayed on exterior & interior walls
also around the windows & door frames to
ensure a weather proof seal.
17. 6. A few hours later the ceramic has
hardened and is ready to be occupied.
18. • For a ton of conventional concrete , 1 ton of
green house gases are obtained but with
grancrete only 1/10 th of green houses evolve.
• Two people can build a house in two days.
• Prevents leaching of hazardous contaminants.
• No reinforcement is required.
19. Skin Contact: Rinse affected area with soap
and water.
Eye Contact: Immediately flush the eyes with
water for 15 minutes including underneath
the eyelids. Consult a physician as soon as
possible for follow-up treatment.
20. Eye Protection: Protective glasses or goggles
should be worn.
Respiratory protection
22. Low cost housing.
Eco-friendly.
Alternative to concrete.
Less time for Setting.
Fire resistant.
Bio-degradable.
Resistant to salt water.
23. Have to be repaired regularly when subjected
to heavy rainfall.
The machine should be operated by a
technical person only.
24. “Grancrete”……..The best option to construct
house in future and this new technology that
may lead to affordable housing for the
world’s poorest. There will be no loss in
usage of this cement in the construction.
