Marketing is Easy, when done Right!
• Nowadays, marketing is much easier than in the
past. And it holds less risk.
• Marketing on the web is all about running
experiments.
• You can think you know something, but run an
experiment to prove (or deny) it.
• When experimenting and testing everything, you
spend less marketing budget and you find out the
results sooner (before the campaign fails).
Marketing Experiments
1. What are you Testing?
• Are you testing a landing page? The color of a
shopping cart checkout button?
• Store these experiments in a way so you can reference them later.

2. What is your Purpose?
• What do you to find out while experimenting?
• Are you looking to drive signups, sales, or
referrals?
• If you have no purpose, then you probably shouldn’t be running the test in
the first place.

3. What is your Hypothesis?
• What do you expect to happen during this
test?
• It forces you to develop your intuition.
• Spend more time asking questions with your
customers.

4. What Metric are you using?
• What indicator are you using to measure
success or failure?
• The common metric is “sales” - after all, the
goal of your business is to make money!

5. What Results did you see?
• What happened during the experiment?
• What did you learn?

6. What would you change?
• If there was anything you could change in the
future what would it be?
