Qualitative Research Qualitative research is most appropriate because the study focused on in-depth study of current practices and it allowed the researcher to explore attitudes, perceptions and emotions which are not possible if one had used rigidly defined statistical methods. Moreover, it can capture and analyze the rich responses that were expected from the participant audience.

With ease of access of internet connectivity and owing to ability of maintaining anonymity, online chatting has become very common. Based on an empirical study comprising of more than 700 chatting sessions spread over a period of 15 months with nearly 2500 online chatters, this paper aims to present a psychological study and analysis of the behavior of chatters in online chatting environments. It has been found that the chatting environments are dominated by male gender and explicit sexual expression is common. The paper also laments the ability of chatting environments to be exploited as breeding ground for cyber crimes by using ‘social engineering’. On the sidelines, the paper also lists the motivations driving the people to chat as well as the various rewards and drawbacks that chatting poses to the chatter in specific and society in general.

The provision of reference and information services are one of the major activities for academic libraries. Answering questions and providing relevant and timely answers for library users are just one of such services. Questions come in many format: in person, phone, email and even on social media platforms. The type of questions may also differ from simple, directional to complicated ones. One of the challenges for libraries is the capturing and managing of these inquiries. Libraries need to address some of these points: • How the questions will be captured • How the questions will be answered • Who will answer these questions • What is the turn-around time for answering these questions • What kind of statistics to monitor • How are these statistics communicated to internal library staff and other stakeholders This paper describe the initiatives undertaken by KAUST, a brand new Graduate Research Library located in Saudi Arabia. This initiatives include the implementation of LibAnswers to assist the library in capturing and managing all inquiries. We are tracking inquiries coming in via email or widgets (such as online form), converting received questions into FAQ entries, creating and maintaining a public knowledge base for our users. In addition, it will also describe future plans in store to expand reference services for our library users.

I argue that the role Electronic Resources Librarians (ERLs) have in licensing electronic content is the most relevant within the ERLs core responsibilities. While ERLs are rarely also lawyers, the role they play in educating stakeholders, negotiating with publishers and vendors, and crafting understanding of licensing terms is integral for the success of a rapidly growing and changing electronic collections environment. Due to this rapidly changing environment, it may be difficult for library science programs to stay current with course offerings in the current licensing best practices, and ERLs often-times have to learn these skills on the job. In this session I will highlight specific examples of library licensing language, including topics such as archival rights, perpetual access, interlibrary loan, and reserves, providing a foundation for the ERL's significant role in electronic content licensing. I will share insight into these examples of how I applied the curriculum I received during library school, on the job training, and unique personal experiences to inform the audience on how to navigate through electronic content licensing. I will demonstrate ways ERLs can continue their education and thus work more closely with stakeholders to foster support for the library's role in licensing. In addition, I will provide some insight as to how ERLs can manage these responsibilities along with the range of day-to-day responsibilities. Objectives: 1) Provide a framework for understanding the history and justification for the inclusion of licensing in the Core Competencies for ERLs 2) Outline resources for new librarians and students to engage in further education about electronic content licensing 3) Detail a toolkit for educating and advocating for a librarian's role in electronic content licensing Outcomes: Attendees will walk away with knowledge on how to build their licensing competency and advocate for the ERLs role in electronic content licensing. The research environment is challenging libraries to raise their game by providing higher-end services in response to technological change and policy developments. Librarians are being urged to move from service-as-support to a partnership model involving “deep collaboration” across the whole knowledge lifecycle. But libraries are no longer the “go-to” place for researchers. Perceived as dispensers of goods, more geared to students and education, they struggle to gain take-up for research offerings. Innovative practitioners are using various strategies to reposition themselves as key players in the research arena, notably space-as-service strategies, which can bring researchers back to the physical library and improve visibility of virtual services.

Over the years many things have changed in higher education spectrum. New teaching and learning methods have been introduced; users have become more computer literates. This led to change in information seeking habit of students of law. Once, the law reports, commentaries and manuals were the most preferred sources of information. But due to emergence of ICT, the e-resources have attracted the attention of the law users more than ever before. This paper discusses the impact of electronic legal resources on the information seeking behavior of law users. It also seeks to highlight the awareness and usage of public domain databases by Indian legal researchers. Salesforce Adoption – Metrics, Methods, and Motivation, Antone Kom

Syngulon’s technology expands the capacity for selection of microorganisms. The ability to select individual microbes with a behavior of interest is essential, whether for simple cloning at the bench, or for industry-scale production. Synthetic biology uses the concept of “bioengineering” to improve or modify existing genetic systems to create microbes with desired behaviors, and Syngulon uses this approach to develop its selection technologies. This selection technology is based on bacteriocins, ribosomally-produced peptides naturally made by most bacteria to kill competitive microbial species. These bacteriocins can have a limited or wide target range against other microbial species. This technology offers advantageous over antibiotic selection for several reasons: it avoids the use of antibiotics in the first place, helping to reduce the spread of antibiotic resistant microbes. The technology also increases product yield; as bacteriocins are generally smaller peptides, they do not impose a heavy metabolic burden on the producing cell. They can have a wide target specificity, helping to avoid genetic drift. Finally, our system is 100% plasmid-based (e.g. without chromosomal mutations), making it applicable for use in any E. coli strains.
