3. REVIEW OF LITERATURE
• There has been a massive proliferation in the numbers of popular websites and social networking sites,
• Internet critics and writers like James Slevin 2000, Allan Martin 2006, Jan Nederveen 2009, have come up
with books on or relating to Internet,
• They are either collections of their own popular critical writings or biographies of Internet and societies,
• Shell Oil‟s book with the title ‘Strategic use of website’, has created a benchmark, but none on their own
craft,
• The fascination to New media is what Y.K.D‟Souza called, “A willful suicide” in his book „Electronic
Media and The Internet’.
5. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
•To study the purpose of New media, especially Internet on Research Scholars.
*To analyze internet gives better research environment or hampering the quality of research.
•To know the over-flux of information on the Internet websites affect the Researcher.
•To justify whether internet has taken over the traditional and library sources.
•To understand the importance of internet awareness programme in universities.
6. • This study is an exploratory and analytical in nature.
• Carried out through triangulation method.
• Using the information collected by primary and secondary sources.
• Discussion approaches through perspectives drawn from the survey method.
• Employing questionnaires and interviews as research tools.

14. Research scholars employing internet as a research tools should be accepted by Universities.
“A little knowledge is a dangerous thing” and yes! Internet awareness program should be given once in a
semester.
All the internet facilities and systems are kept ready to use and user friendly to the researchers.
University computer center must updated the latest tools, to make the researchers easy to access.
The latest state-of-art trend to digitalize the libraries, class rooms etc. must have taken into serious
consideration.
15. CONCLUSION
INTO THE DEATH END …
From the story so far… we can now come to the ‘Moral of the Story’:
Internet is a basic raw material to the high-end research institutes in today‟ academia.
Neophyte Researchers are vulnerable to malpractices, however proper awareness will mitigate
this act.
The introduction of digital library, web portals, e-books etc. gives a tremendous impact in
research.
Internet facilities should be installed through the guidance of experts, and upgrades the research
curricula.
The world is compressed to a small global village and over-skidded the time-speed of hours to
seconds.
Perhaps the quest of bringing and maintaining a high standard research environment ends here.
