The Sudetenland was a region in western Czechoslovakia that was inhabited primarily by German speakers. In 1938, Hitler promised not to attack Czechoslovakia but secretly planned to stir up tensions and trouble among Sudeten Germans to justify invading. At meetings with British Prime Minister Chamberlain, Hitler first demanded control of parts of the Sudetenland, then all of it. In October 1938, Britain and France signed the Munich Agreement allowing Germany to annex the Sudetenland in an effort to appease Hitler and avert war, despite originally committing to support Czechoslovakia.
Sir Matthew visits Mary Banks in Holloway Jail to prepare her for questioning as the defendant in her upcoming trial for murdering her husband. He assumes the role of prosecution counsel, questioning her about key details of the case such as why her hair was found on the axe used in the killing and her large purchase of strychnine. Though she has explanations for these incriminating pieces of evidence, Sir Matthew remains unconvinced of her innocence. Their practice questioning session reveals she may be hiding important information, leaving Sir Matthew still uncertain whether she is telling the truth.
Robert worked as a steward for a wealthy European doctor in Nigeria. When the doctor's wife arrived with a dog named Bingo, Robert grew jealous that Bingo was better treated than his own hungry family. The doctor left Bingo in Robert's care while traveling, and driven by anger and envy, Robert stole Bingo's food and milk for his family, allowing the dog to starve to death.

This document provides a series of questions to evaluate understanding of a chapter on genetic variation and Darwin's theory of evolution. It asks the reader to: 1) Compare continuous and discontinuous variation through a chart. 2) Define genetic variation and explain its causes. 3) Explain how one animal adapts to its environment. 4) Create a mind map of how Darwin's theory of evolution works. 5) Provide an example of how natural selection works. 6) Identify what is called when a gene suddenly changes. 7) Explain why radiation can damage DNA bases.

The leaders of the US, UK, and France - Woodrow Wilson, David Lloyd George, and Georges Clemenceau - met to discuss the post-WW1 peace treaty. They debated how harshly Germany should be punished, with Clemenceau arguing for the harshest terms while Wilson warned against humiliation. They agreed Germany would lose land, navy, and pay reparations. Lloyd George and Clemenceau criticized Wilson for publicizing his 14 Points without consulting them first. However, they ultimately agreed to the Points, with Lloyd George refusing only the free seas clause due to British sovereignty.
