Working Dogs For Conservation
It s animals helping animals when it comes to the crisis of poaching in Africa. The rampant, ceaseless
poaching of elephants for ivory may have, at long last, met it s match and it stands on four legs. Over
the past few years, tracker dogs have teamed up with anti poaching enforcement units in the fight
against poachers throughout Africa.
It s a widely known fact that poaching has been detrimental to the welfare and very existence of
elephants. Despite countless efforts to thwart poaching and ivory trade missions, the number of
elephant deaths at the hands of poachers is still critically high. IB Times reported in 2015 that due to
poaching, a staggering 35,000 African elephants are killed each year that translates to nearly 100

Erythropoietin Side Effects
Erythropoietin side effects
Inappropriate use of Erythropoietin can lead to increased risk of thrombotic events, for example:
stroke, heart attacks and pulmonary embolism. These effects are considered long term effects.
Erythropoietin affects are not gender specific, the noticeable side effects that often occur when using
Erythropoietin involve increased blood pressure, swelling, fever, dizziness and nausea.13
Human Growth Hormone side effects
The side effects of Human Growth Hormones range in severity; HGH can cause the user to experience
joint pain, muscle weakness, fluid retention, vision problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, impaired
glucose regulation, enlarged heart (cardiomegaly), high cholesterol (hyperlipidaemia), diabetes and
high blood pressure (hypertension). All these effects are determined on the amount of doses and the
period the user is taking this substance.14

Performance enhancing drugs are common in most sports. It was found that doping was tested positive
for 26 Olympic sports between 2003 and 2006. Over those eight years, cycling has been found to have
the highest percentage of drug doping with an average of 3.7%. Not only cycling has the highest
percentage of doping findings, it is also has the highest amount of athletes admitting to taking drugs
after track records. Weightlifting, boxing, triathlon and baseball were considered the next four sports
with the highest positive test results respectively.16
A survey was conducted to ask the public what sport they thought performance enhancing drugs were
most common in. A total of 234 applicants replied and it was shown that bodybuilding had the highest
percentage of drug users with 29% of the applicant s replies. This could be due to the demand of
gaining muscles for the sport to achieve a good physique. The sport required the athletes to get as big

The Music Of The 1930 S
The 1930 s was a decade of extremely hard times, following the stock market crash and an extreme
depression. In spite of the tremendous hardships in America during this decade, it also became a time
of great music that is still remembered today. Jazz music was highly popular in this time, and Billie
Holiday was a famous jazz performer. She stood out from many other musicians because of her
intense and passionate performances. Jazz arose from unacceptable segments of society, but quickly
grew like wildfire. We often think of the 1930 s as the decade that jazz became civilized, and famous
throughout popular culture through the work of pioneering artists like Billie Holiday. People did not
own televisions or cable, so radio was their main source of entertainment, and music during this
decade was both up beat and a source of relaxation. Strange Fruit defied musical category because it
was considered too artsy to be folk, and too explicitly political to fit into jazz. This is why Strange
Fruit became such a powerful phenomenon. Many other artists later took on this song, changing the
genre but still portraying the same message. Nina Simone dramatized Strange Fruit in the context of
the Civil Rights Movement. More important artists like Jeff Buckley, Rene Marie, Labor Camp
Orchestra, and many others made their own rendition on the song, still leaving all of their audiences
moved by the powerful imagery of the lyrics. Strange Fruit , the haunting ballad recorded by

Bigger Than Enron
Lobbing of commercial and political interests in the establishing of the standards is a fact, which leads
to believe that there might be large groups of the financial information users, who are interested in the
particular way of reporting. If it is beneficial to them and to the market without compromising any
ethical issues related to the financial reporting, if the market gains from such interests, than the
standards should be formed under such influence. The question is who is going to decide if there are
benefits. I guess, this is the area where the real politic starts. At this level of decision making, I think
there should be people free of any political or economic pressure. However, more often commercial

In the Enron case, The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Congress conducted an
investigation into Enron s collapse. The authorities re examined the roles of corporate watchdogs,
including corporate boards of directors, auditors, investment banks, credit rating agencies and lawyers.
It could be that the watchdogs had too tight relations with the company s executives. That is why no
one questioned the Enron s aggressive accounting strategies. To prevent such collapses, someone
needs to look into the possible conflict of interest. The dilemma is that auditors should perform in the
interests of the investors, but they are paid by the audited company, which makes it more difficult for
them to exercise tough decisions. The auditors should not perform some particular consulting services
for the firms that they audit. Another belief is that there should be more severe consequences for those
committing financial crimes and causing fall of the companies.
Accountants should always carry out the public responsibility, meaning they have a responsibility to
ensure that the accounting functions are performed to the highest possible standards and the
information which an organisation provides for its stakeholders is true and accurate. To reach the goal
of improving the performance of accountants, there might be several steps to undertake. There should
be on going education to keep abreast with the existing and emerging

What Does Elena Symbolize In Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan
In most stories, authors will put an object in a story to symbolize a deeper meaning that is meant to be
conveyed to the reader. In Rules of the Game by Amy tan, the author uses black and white chess
pieces on a checked board to symbolize a deeper meaning in the short story. Throughout the story we
are able to recognize the deeper meaning to the pieces and board than just a game used for fun. The
chess pieces and checkered board signify a battle field between Elena the main character and her
mother. When Elena has her first tournament her mother comes along to watch. Before the tournament
starts, Elena tells her mother that if she loses then she would bring shame on the family. The mother
responds, Is shame you fall down nobody push you. The mothers sense of hypocrisy arises in this
statement because the mother pushes her daughter around. She then gave Elena a tablet of jade, for
good luck and she sits in the stands. As Elena approaches the game board she completely forgets about
her opponent and only sees the white pieces on her side and the black pieces on the other, she hears
whispers in her head. We can infer that the mother is making Elena nervous, ... Show more content on

Personal Reflection Of The Pharmacy And Terminology Quiz
The Pharmacy and Terminology Quiz
I will reflect on pharmacy and terminology quizzes in my LANC2035 class section 10. I did the quiz
in Language Center, Lab 5 on Tuesday at 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. which the time of this quiz is half hour also
it need code to start answering. All of them it worries me before I started. When I do the quiz, I get

The Theme Of War In Trojan Barbie
The average theater goer might consider only the actors, the director, and the script as he or she
attempts to critique a play. However, much more occurs behind the scenes than meets the eye. What
the average theater attendee may overlook are the design elements that enhance a production: set
design, costume, lights, and sound. These combined elements work together to support the work of the
actors by creating an atmosphere that aids the audience in connecting with a production. In the play
Trojan Barbie, these design elements are connected by a common theme of war. In Trojan Barbie, the
theme of war is evident in the set design. As I walked into Tatum theatre, I felt as though I was
entering a war camp. There were tin barrels tipped over, and the ground looked as though it was
covered in dirt. Metal fences were hanging from the upstage, and tall platforms were erected in front
of these fences where I imagined soldiers would stand to watch the prisoners throughout the day.
Along with platforms, wooden boxes and a wooden chair were strewn haphazardly on the ground. I
could picture this scene being the result of a battle. The colors of the set were colors that I connect
with war: browns, greens, and black. In addition to the set, the actors carried the weapons of war. The
soldiers carried guns of varying sizes and types, and these guns were on the soldiers at all times,
showing they were continuously on duty watching over the women in the camp. The second design

The Black Woman In The Painting
I had the opportunity to customize the painting to make HER look more like myself. And, I considered
it. I thought, I d have to change HER skin tone to a much lighter shade of brown. I d have to straighten
HER hair and take out the beautiful bounce of HER curls. I would be changing HER entire look. I
wasn t feelin it. The Black woman in the painting was already so beautiful the way she was and I just
didn t feel moved to change HER. Actually, I related to HER in a very intimate way. I already knew it
wasn t the way she looked that I saw in myself. So I couldn t figure out what it was about HER that I
related to. I mean after all, it s just a painting, I don t actually know HER, Right?
Wrong, I do know HER. She is a part of me. She is an extension of me. She is SOLANA NADINE. It
hit me! The woman in the painting looks like a version of what Solana might look like in 20 years or
so. This was the intimate connection I felt to the just the painting woman. According to my view the
woman in the painting is Important Valued. She is Strong Confident. She is Smart Empowered. She is
Kind is Loved. She is Sweet Feisty. She is dark skinned with luscious dark curls. She is at Peace and
She is Beautiful.

Puritan Compare And Contrast Essay
Richard Howland Maxwell (2003) states in his article Pilgrim And Puritan: A Delicate Distinction that
many Americans are still confused about these two religious cults and often quote wrong historical
references, when talking about the two. In words of Lori Stokes (2013), Americans are aware of the
terms Puritan and Pilgrim , but are not able to differentiate them. Although, these two religious groups
have emerged from the same movement, called Reformation, they are entirely different in their
religious and political ideology.
Protestantism had been struggling to establish itself throughout the sixteenth century. In those years
Protestants were largely persecuted and many migrated to other countries to escape persecution and

They often resorted to tyrannical measures for this purpose. These measures strengthened as well as
divided Puritans. While some accepted the persecution as means of purification, others revolted
against it and lost faith in the Anglican Church ultimately abandoning it altogether. These people were
called the Separatists, which later came to be known as Pilgrims, and people remaining faithful to the
Anglican Church came to be known as the non separating Puritans. Church of England was rejected
by the Pilgrim separatists along with the remnants of Catholicism represented by the Church of
England. Puritans, on the other hand, wanted to restore early Christian society by reforming the
Church of England while being a part of it. The separatists formed the Separatist Movement and they
left England in 1608. Later, they decided to immigrate to the New World, and ultimately landed at
Plymouth in 1620. These people came to be known as Pilgrims. Puritan groups also migrated to New
England in 1630. The Puritans and Pilgrims never lost their identity and remained different from each
other. According to Samuel T.

Ways to Establish a Small Business Essay
In this modern era, being smart academically, having a bachelor or master title cannot guarantee a
person from having a good job with a good salary. Some people don t satisfy with their current work
because they think that the salary is small and they should deserve more, no wonder there are many
people work in places that are very contrast with their study in the past. Nowadays there are many
independent businesses running both online and offline such as online shops, restaurant, saloon, etc.
Some may think that it is just a part time job to have an extra salary, but the truth is, we can get a large

Desires that entrepreneurs possesses can be used as motivations for establishing the business. ( 7
Langkah Membuat Usaha Sendiri , 2012) desires that a person possesses may be a short term such as
successfully establish the business, have clients, to be known by many people or a long term desire
such as having an increasing income every year.
The next crucial thing that needs to be looked at is managing budget for the soon to established
business. A good businessman should be able to calculate on how much money he or she would spend
his or her career. In many cases an amateur businessman tends to miscalculate the budget, and ended
up getting no profit at all. For beginners, there are many ways to obtain enough budgets to start a
business. A small business may require small amount of budget ( two to tem millions) and it is
possible to obtain the money from his or her own savings.( tips mengawali usaha dengan modal kecil,

from close friends, family, or even bank. Some people may think that asking for a loan is somewhat
inappropriate, so another way to acquire the budget is to cooperate with someone else, in other word
having two founders in one business, and automatically the budget will be split in to two. ( Lima cara

How The Process Of Human Digestion Works
How the process of human digestion works is it starts with your mouth, the digestion starts as soon
you take your first bite of your meal. When you chew it helps the process by making it easier for the
food to digest. Also the saliva mixes with the food so that it can form it into something that the body
can absorb and use. The next place the food goes is the pharynx (throat), then the esophagus or
swallowing tube. The esophagus gets the food from the throat to the stomach. After the stomach is the
small intestine it continues the breaking down process of the food by using enzymes released by the
pancreas and bile from the liver. There are 3 other organs that help the small intestine break down the
food we eat. They are pancreas, liver, and

A Research Study On Finance And Economics
Two years ago while I offered a research job at Cambridge in applied economics, one of my friends
jokingly quipped that one day I would be the next Raghuram Rajan, who had just taken over as the
Governor of the Reserve Bank of India following his academic position. I smiled as I had then not
considered the possibility of becoming an academic who could wield such power in designing policies
to govern the financial institution of the world s largest democracy. In retrospect, this does not seem
very far from the truth with respect to my long term career goals. I consider it a privilege to contribute
meaningful work that would improve the financial standards in my country. My interest in a
quantitative field like finance and economics comes as no surprise, since Mathematics is one of my
favorite subjects and my forte right from secondary school. The power of these subjects to cater to
practical applications in the real world setting led to my close involvement with them, which was also
instrumental for my qualifying for the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad. For my undergraduate
studies, I chose Mechanical Engineering over the other options, at one of the top universities for this
discipline in my country, due to its significant quantitative content and for the possibility of applying
those tools to solving complex problems, which I did. The rigorous pure math training spanning 3

A Stupid Story
Today, I am going to tell you a very stupid story, a story as stupid as it is similar to the fairy tale The
Emperor s New Clothes . It starts on a gray, windy, and sad October morning where the sky still looks
full of grumbling, unhappy, gray clouds even though it s been raining for a week. At this palace called
Amalienborg palace where there are four buildings in an octagon shape in the capital of Denmark,
Copenhagen, where nothing exciting ever happens. As if the day didn t already look sad enough, my
favourite chocolate sauce just had to run out today without the knowledge of the head chef until it was
too late. At which point I threw a tantrum at him for 20 minutes. And then another one after breakfast
when the house I tried to build out of waffles fell down, which happens every morning. After feeling
satisfied by letting out some anger, I then slowly dragged myself away from the humongous dining
room now littered with messy plates, waffles without their golden brown crusts, an empty vanilla ice
cream container, and other half eaten food. It was time to go to my office to put my signature on pages
of paper filled with words that the prime minister told me I have to agree to in order for them to pass .
The building that contained my office was in another building across the square from the one I was in.
While I was walking on the cobblestone I almost tripped on the same stone as I did yesterday.
Blwaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh I screamed but caught my balance

Horse Environmental Changes
The environmental changes that took place throughout history caused species of animals to adapt to
the changing conditions. One such animal where this is especially apparent is the evolution of the
horse. In order to survive, horses evolved traits such as longer limbs, rigid teeth and others that
allowed them the best chance of survival. Overall, it is apparent that the morphology of the horse
changed due to environmental conditions, especially when studying the fossilized teeth, jaws, and
limbs. One of the earliest horse species is known as Hyracotherium. It is believed that this species did
not live on open grasslands like modern horses but instead, lived in thick, closed canopy forests. As
we saw in lab, the teeth of Hyracotherium are rather pointed which indicates that the species was a
browser of leaves and fruits in forests. Its small skull and rostrum also leads one to believe that it had
a diet of these easily chewable foods found in closed canopy forests. In contrast, the modern horse has
very flat rigid teeth which indicates the species is a grazer of grass. In class, one of the trends we
observed was that phalange number decreased over time (Lab Data). An organism with more
phalanges typically exhibits better dexterity, balance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

allowing for increased speed. This kind of limb is very effective when it comes to transferring

horses to run away from predators. We also observed the formation of the hoof. Over time, the outer
metatarsal decreased in length compared to the central metatarsal. Another trend we saw was that the
central metatarsal increased in length over the course of history (Lab Data). This would further allow
for increased speed, but less

A Separate Peace Rhetorical Analysis
Paul uses many tactics throughout his imprisonment in order to keep some control over his and Annie
s alliance. One effective method he uses is flattery, complimenting Annie in order to keep her happy
and her mood stable. His use of this move is demonstrated on page 60 in the novel, when he calls
Annie his favorite nurse. He uses it again on page 107, telling Annie that she could not be old enough
to remember the chapter plays, hinting at how she looks way younger than she actually is. Paul uses
this strategy to lighten Annie s mood and keep her happy, which is vital to him because Annie can
become very destructive and impatient when angry, consequently being the main source of Paul s pain
throughout the book. In addition to flattery, Paul

What Role Does Adversity Play In Shaping A Person s Character
A person s character is shaped by many aspects of their life including the people they associate
themselves with, their cultural and familial background, and experiences they have been through.
Some of these experiences may have been positive and others might have not been so pleasant such as
having to endure financial or political hardship. The Roman poet Horace once asserted that adversity
brings out the good aspects of a person or talents while if they were doing great and were prosperous,
those talents would not have come out. From this quotation, it is evident that experiencing hardship
does good for a person and plays a role in shaping their character by motivating them and providing
hope but may also put you down. Adversity is a factor

Racial Diversity And The School System
The discussion of integration in schools have multiple forces that continue to be examined today by
race and class. Stratification in today s school systems are segregation in residential neighborhoods.
Most attendance in public schools are determined largely by where students live. Predominantly white
suburbs and poor minority neighborhoods both are grouped by income and race. This particular
grouping can create school districts to be separated by race. Segregation in urban areas of North
Carolina schools could be a concern, and the recent expansion of charter schools has brought up new
fears with regard to the district s desegregation efforts. Does school choice impact racial diversity and
the achievement gap in North Carolina schools? Residential segregation has been a large focal point in
education policies since Brown v. Board of Education overturned the separate but equal act for blacks
and whites in 1954. This helped create some of the first federal policies in creating integrated schools
in America. The ruling in the Supreme Court Case Parents Involved in Community Schools v. Seattle
School District No.1 of 2007, also limited the way that districts could use race to determine school
assignment. Both rulings introduced the notion of parental choice of schools having the possibility to
positively impact school integration. Choice programs of the 1950 s and 1960 s led to racial
integration issues. During the 1970s through the 1990 s brought many new choice programs to

What National Monument Means The Most To Me Analysis
What National Monument Means the Most to Me? The Statue of Liberty that stands on Ellis Island in
New York is very important to me. It represents freedom, hope, the end of slavery, and many more
things. It is a very meaningful national monument that reminds us every day what it really means to be

This monument definitely represents freedom for me. I have come to the understanding that in the
past, we were not free. I have learned that us getting our freedom was a huge step into a better future
for our homeland. Another way this represents freedom is the fact that it represented the end of slavery

The New York Harbor was a major port entry for immigrants in 1892. Many immigrants coming from

them a lot of hope, and I find it important that the statue stands for hope in times when we need
something to remind us that we will be safe, no matter the circumstances.
During the American Revolution, France and America had a strong friendship. For that reason, France
and America came up with the idea that they would make a statue to represent America s freedom and

The Role Of Femme False In Greek Mythology
The myth involving a femme fatale has been prevalent in all cultures. There are several examples of
women who were capable of using their sexuality to lure men to their death. These women were often
portrayed as evil or demonic, some source of danger. Such as Lilith, the Sirens, and the mermaids. The
objective is to identify each goddess, mythical creature, and/or minor deity in all of the mythologies
we have studied that match these criteria. The Egyptian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Germanic, Nordic,
Roman, Egyptian, and Celtic cultures. It appears that almost all if not all of the cultures in the world

Taking English 1302 with Texas Tech University has been a highly rewarding experience. This class
focuses on literature reviews and researched arguments, but when I signed up for this class I did not
know the difference between the two. Now I know that literature reviews use sources to inform the
reader about current studies on a topic, while researched arguments use sources to support the author s
claim and persuade the reader. During this class I have learned how to write a literature review/
researched argument as well as many mechanics related to general writing. In English 1302, I was
instructed on how to write a literature review and a researched argument. While I found literature
reviews to be easier than researched arguments, I still learned how to synthesize sources and their
respective information. I realized that I did not need to put in much of my own commentary compared
to an argumentative paper. Initially, I could not see how subtopics and themes could connect several
pieces of writing just as much as the subject of the paper could. I also used to focus on the authors of
sources rather than the connected information written by the authors, but now I focus on the latter.
Taking this course made me realize that I had never used common ground while writing an argument,
but it is very critical for persuasion. For example, in my researched argument I wrote: ... you, as a
consumer, have been affected by robotics in more ways than you know; robots aid humans in many

Joy Luck Club Strengths And Weaknesses
Two Kinds Strengths, Weaknesses, and More...
After exploring the contradictions in the lives of the Joy Luck Club such as, strength and weaknesses,
obedience and independence, individuality and society, joy and sadness, and hope and despair. It
really got me thinking about my strengths and weaknesses as a person (and where they came from).
Obviously, people s strengths and weaknesses are subjective so during the course of this writing
session I will either use my own personal opinion of what my strengths and weaknesses are. Or I will
state who said what my strengths and weaknesses are.
When thinking about about my strengths and weaknesses I asked my friend Harrison for help, he
thinks that I am fairly intelligent. On the downside he says that I give myself too much credit,
meaning I got a big ego. Harrison also claims that I have a short temper and always say the same stuff
sometimes. I think that my intelligence comes from my genetics, specifically from my dad, he got a
partial scholarship to Iowa for accounting. He majored in business to become a car salesman. He is
now the general manager of Carousel Motors in Iowa City and he pressures me to do good in school.
Along with my intelligence, he also brings me my short temper. My dad has always had a short fuse,
every time I did something wrong, he would either yell at me or be visibly upset about the situation.
This is the same with me, as usually I get very mad if someone either doesn t listen to me or is acting

Essay On Dachau Concentration Camp
Dachau Concentration Camp Throughout the existence of Dachau, over 180,000 people passed
through the main camp. After Adolf Hitler became Chancellor, Dachau was built, so that made it the
first regular concentration camp built in Germany. Even though Dachau was not very big, there were a
lot of people in the camp. There were a ton of people in the camp there was not all the many buildings
inside of it. Even though Dachau was the first concentration camp, used as a model for the rest of
them, it was still a very dangerous camp where thousands of people died. Dachau was a concentration
camp, but it did not remain a normal concentration camp through its existence. It was the first regular
concentration camp established by the National Socialists(Nazi) government (United States Holocaust
Memorial Museum 1). Dachau was the first concentration camp built in Germany, a few weeks after
Hitler became Chancellor. Dachau eventually turned into a death camp ... Show more content on

The camp was divided into two different sections, the camp and crematoria area. In the camp area,
there were 32 barracks, including one for clergy imprisoned for opposing the Zazi regime and one was
reserved for medical experiments (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum 1). There was a camp
administration located at the main entrance of the camp. In the camp, there was an area of buildings
that included the kitchen, showers, laundry, workshops and a prison block. There was a courtyard in
between the prison and kitchen that was used for the execution of prisoners. Surrounding the camp
was an electrified barbed wire fence, a wall, a ditch and seven guard towers. A new crematorium area
was built in 1942 next to the main camp area. The area consisted of an old crematorium, a new
crematorium, and a gas chamber. There wasn t any evidence to prove that the gas chamber was used to
kill anyone. Dachau was not very large, but there was still a lot in

Analysis Of Princess Mononoke And The Classic...
Throughout the progression of civilization, technological advancements have always occurred at the
expense of altering and harming the environment; so much so that one of the five types of conflict
highlighted in literary writing is human vs. nature. One such story that addresses this conflict is
Princess Mononoke by Japanese storyteller Hiyao Miyazaki. Although appearing to be a simple
animated children s tale of a boy thrown into a fight between spiritual beings and the human
civilization that threatens to encroach upon their territory, Miyazaki delves into an utterly complex
commentary on the consequences technological advancements have on its surroundings. Unlike other
more mainstream examples from film such as Disney s Pocahontas, James Cameron s Avatar, and the
classic Soylent Green, however, Miyazaki chooses not to take a side as he highlights the benevolence
of the people that are destroying nature, while forcing the viewer to sympathize with the nature spirits
plight simultaneously. Refraining from dealing in absolutes, Princess Mononoke s subject matter
develops more nuanced critiques that allow the viewer to craft their own opinions. While Miyazaki
chooses not to reach any concrete resolution on how to fix the problems that may arise, he offers a
legitimate warning that balance is crucial beyond measure; a balance unattained, even after nearly two
decades have passed since the film s release. To reach a consensus on resolutions to the ongoing crises
that

What Is The Relationship Between The Protestant Ethic And...
In Max Weber s book The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, examines the relationship
between the ethics of ascetic Protestantism and the emergence of the spirit of modern capitalism.
Weber discusses that the religious ideas of groups such as the Calvinists played a role in creating the
capitalistic spirit. In Chapter two, Weber targets the concept of capitalism, which tends to assume or
argue that its existence is inevitable, that it is fundamental to human nature, or reflects an important
step in a universal series of stages. Weber s account brings such claims into question. Corresponding
to Weber, the spirit necessary for successful capitalistic activities is not natural. Striving for profit is
not the only way to approach economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weber draws links between the rise of Calvinism and modern capitalism. Weber, however, is more
cautious overall than Marx in his willingness to make predictions for the future. Overall, while there
are differences between these two theorists, they both make strong arguments for the link between
economics, culture, and ideology. They dispel the notion that society is the creation of individuals who
are consciously and freely making choices, and show how modes of economic production are both
producers and products of cultural and social

Similarities And Differences Between South Africa And Kenya

I have selected to compare the laws in South Africa and Kenya. My analysis includes an explanation
of the laws in each country highlighting differences and similarities. I have then explored how these
laws relate to the functions of Strategic Human Resource management. I have noted throughout how
the laws in these countries have an impact on all areas of Strategic Human resource functions of
recruiting and interviewing, performance appraisal and job enrichment, compensation and benefits,
employee development, health and safety and strategic management.
I have proceeded to discuss whether in my opinion the laws in each country favour the employee,

on these matters. Wages are determined for agriculture as well as general sector workers by the
Agricultural and General Wage Councils constituted under the Labour Institutions Act. Based on the
findings of the councils appointed, the minister will then set minimum wage rates. Similar to South

These factors are the needs of the workers, general wage levels of the country as well as the ability of

Analysis Of Lala Land And Lala Land
Dreams. Everyone has Dreams. Something for someone to think about when they re in times of
trouble. The Academy Award winning film, Lala Land takes the aspect of dreams to a completely
different level. Whenever Damien Chazelle released the first trailer for the movie over a year ago, I
was automatically in love with the masterpiece that was about to bless all my five senses. Just within
the minute and a half teaser I saw over a year ago, I was mesmerized by the phenomenal
cinematography and score. The amazing film, Lala Land is the best movie ever made because of the:
amazing directing, phenomenal score, and the immediate chemistry from the two main characters.

The music in those final twenty minutes are so powerful, that I remember bawling my eyes out and
clapping in the middle of the theatre. To this day, I still have Mia and Sebastian s Theme on my phone.
On screen chemistry is incredibly important aspect to making a movie that includes two or more
people; and this movie absolutely nailed it. With a movie about a failing actress and jazz pianist that
fall in love in Las Angeles, the actors have to be both good and convincing. Emma Stone and Ryan
Gosling do an amazing job playing a couple who fall in love in a difficult part of their lives. They re
acting was so good; they both got nominated for an Academy Award; but sadly, only Emma Stone got
the award. Emma Stone deserved that award; and she gave a performance that will live on for
generations.
What really saddens me is how blind people can be to how beautiful a musical can be. From the many
reviews I ve read, many of them are written by people who just hate musicals in general. However,
there are also people who are unbiased about the genre of the movie; and actually, think that Ryan
Gosling s acting is bland and Emma Stone s singing and dancing is hard to watch. Although; I believe
that Lala Land is a masterpiece that should be praised for decades upon decades. I ve heard opinions
from my friends that I may have forced to watch the movie; and every single person has said nothing
but positive things about the film. They all say that the

Glorified Gladiators
Audience Purpose:
This report is meant to address the need for the neuroscience community to focus more on the socio
and psychological desire for violent sports, such as the National Football League (NFL) and the
historical evidence of social appeal that dates back to ancient Rome. Introduction:
The study of Rome presents an opportunity to relate the past to the present, and analyze how social
behaviors have prevailed overtime through sport. Although sent to their death within the arena, the
ancient public of Rome glorified gladiators. They supplied an outlet for the public to visually glorify
war and violence, while being able to choose a desired hero to root for. Similarly, the professional

John B Watson Behaviorism
The behaviorism perspective displays how the environment impacts the way people behave. This
perspective was founded by Watson, who wanted to revolutionize the study of human psychology in
order to put it on firm experimental footing. (http://www.iep.utm.edu/behavior/) Behaviorism shows
the chemical responses in our brain are triggered by the external part of our bodies. For example,
behaviorism explains why we feel pleasure when we gamble, drink, smoke. Our body releases
endorphins which allows us to feel pleasure from doing these things. The first time you feel the rush
of gambling is what makes you want to keep gambling, even if it is not in your best interest.
One of the pioneers of the behaviorism perspective was John B. Watson. He was born to a poor family
in Greenville, South Carolina. When Watson was 13, his father left due to a drinking problem and his
countless affairs. Watson went to the University of Chicago, which sparked his interest in behavior. He
saw psychology as the study of people s actions with the ability to predict and control those actions.

  • 2. Working Dogs For Conservation It s animals helping animals when it comes to the crisis of poaching in Africa. The rampant, ceaseless poaching of elephants for ivory may have, at long last, met it s match and it stands on four legs. Over the past few years, tracker dogs have teamed up with anti poaching enforcement units in the fight against poachers throughout Africa. It s a widely known fact that poaching has been detrimental to the welfare and very existence of elephants. Despite countless efforts to thwart poaching and ivory trade missions, the number of elephant deaths at the hands of poachers is still critically high. IB Times reported in 2015 that due to poaching, a staggering 35,000 African elephants are killed each year that translates to nearly 100 elephants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. The Music Of The 1930 S The 1930 s was a decade of extremely hard times, following the stock market crash and an extreme depression. In spite of the tremendous hardships in America during this decade, it also became a time of great music that is still remembered today. Jazz music was highly popular in this time, and Billie Holiday was a famous jazz performer. She stood out from many other musicians because of her intense and passionate performances. Jazz arose from unacceptable segments of society, but quickly grew like wildfire. We often think of the 1930 s as the decade that jazz became civilized, and famous throughout popular culture through the work of pioneering artists like Billie Holiday. People did not own televisions or cable, so radio was their main source of entertainment, and music during this decade was both up beat and a source of relaxation. Strange Fruit defied musical category because it was considered too artsy to be folk, and too explicitly political to fit into jazz. This is why Strange Fruit became such a powerful phenomenon. Many other artists later took on this song, changing the genre but still portraying the same message. Nina Simone dramatized Strange Fruit in the context of the Civil Rights Movement. More important artists like Jeff Buckley, Rene Marie, Labor Camp Orchestra, and many others made their own rendition on the song, still leaving all of their audiences moved by the powerful imagery of the lyrics. Strange Fruit , the haunting ballad recorded by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bigger Than Enron Lobbing of commercial and political interests in the establishing of the standards is a fact, which leads to believe that there might be large groups of the financial information users, who are interested in the particular way of reporting. If it is beneficial to them and to the market without compromising any ethical issues related to the financial reporting, if the market gains from such interests, than the standards should be formed under such influence. The question is who is going to decide if there are benefits. I guess, this is the area where the real politic starts. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Enron case, The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Congress conducted an investigation into Enron s collapse. The authorities re examined the roles of corporate watchdogs, including corporate boards of directors, auditors, investment banks, credit rating agencies and lawyers. It could be that the watchdogs had too tight relations with the company s executives. That is why no one questioned the Enron s aggressive accounting strategies. To prevent such collapses, someone needs to look into the possible conflict of interest. The dilemma is that auditors should perform in the interests of the investors, but they are paid by the audited company, which makes it more difficult for them to exercise tough decisions. The auditors should not perform some particular consulting services for the firms that they audit. Another belief is that there should be more severe consequences for those committing financial crimes and causing fall of the companies. Accountants should always carry out the public responsibility, meaning they have a responsibility to ensure that the accounting functions are performed to the highest possible standards and the information which an organisation provides for its stakeholders is true and accurate. To reach the goal of improving the performance of accountants, there might be several steps to undertake. There should be on going education to keep abreast with the existing and emerging ... • 6. What Does Elena Symbolize In Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan In most stories, authors will put an object in a story to symbolize a deeper meaning that is meant to be conveyed to the reader. In Rules of the Game by Amy tan, the author uses black and white chess pieces on a checked board to symbolize a deeper meaning in the short story. Throughout the story we are able to recognize the deeper meaning to the pieces and board than just a game used for fun. The chess pieces and checkered board signify a battle field between Elena the main character and her mother. When Elena has her first tournament her mother comes along to watch. Before the tournament starts, Elena tells her mother that if she loses then she would bring shame on the family. The mother responds, Is shame you fall down nobody push you. The mothers sense of hypocrisy arises in this statement because the mother pushes her daughter around. She then gave Elena a tablet of jade, for good luck and she sits in the stands. • 8. The Theme Of War In Trojan Barbie The average theater goer might consider only the actors, the director, and the script as he or she attempts to critique a play. However, much more occurs behind the scenes than meets the eye. What the average theater attendee may overlook are the design elements that enhance a production: set design, costume, lights, and sound. These combined elements work together to support the work of the actors by creating an atmosphere that aids the audience in connecting with a production. In the play Trojan Barbie, these design elements are connected by a common theme of war. In Trojan Barbie, the theme of war is evident in the set design. As I walked into Tatum theatre, I felt as though I was entering a war camp. There were tin barrels tipped over, and the ground looked as though it was covered in dirt. Metal fences were hanging from the upstage, and tall platforms were erected in front of these fences where I imagined soldiers would stand to watch the prisoners throughout the day. Along with platforms, wooden boxes and a wooden chair were strewn haphazardly on the ground. I could picture this scene being the result of a battle. The colors of the set were colors that I connect with war: browns, greens, and black. In addition to the set, the actors carried the weapons of war. The soldiers carried guns of varying sizes and types, and these guns were on the soldiers at all times, showing they were continuously on duty watching over the women in the camp. Puritan Compare And Contrast Essay Richard Howland Maxwell (2003) states in his article Pilgrim And Puritan: A Delicate Distinction that many Americans are still confused about these two religious cults and often quote wrong historical references, when talking about the two. In words of Lori Stokes (2013), Americans are aware of the terms Puritan and Pilgrim , but are not able to differentiate them. Although, these two religious groups have emerged from the same movement, called Reformation, they are entirely different in their religious and political ideology. Church of England was rejected by the Pilgrim separatists along with the remnants of Catholicism represented by the Church of England. Puritans, on the other hand, wanted to restore early Christian society by reforming the Church of England while being a part of it. The separatists formed the Separatist Movement and they left England in 1608. Later, they decided to immigrate to the New World, and ultimately landed at Plymouth in 1620. The next place the food goes is the pharynx (throat), then the esophagus or swallowing tube. The esophagus gets the food from the throat to the stomach. After the stomach is the small intestine it continues the breaking down process of the food by using enzymes released by the pancreas and bile from the liver. There are 3 other organs that help the small intestine break down the food we eat. They are pancreas, liver, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Research Study On Finance And Economics Two years ago while I offered a research job at Cambridge in applied economics, one of my friends jokingly quipped that one day I would be the next Raghuram Rajan, who had just taken over as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India following his academic position. I smiled as I had then not considered the possibility of becoming an academic who could wield such power in designing policies to govern the financial institution of the world s largest democracy. In retrospect, this does not seem very far from the truth with respect to my long term career goals. I consider it a privilege to contribute meaningful work that would improve the financial standards in my country. My interest in a quantitative field like finance and economics comes as no surprise, since Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects and my forte right from secondary school. The power of these subjects to cater to practical applications in the real world setting led to my close involvement with them, which was also instrumental for my qualifying for the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad. For my undergraduate studies, I chose Mechanical Engineering over the other options, at one of the top universities for this discipline in my country, due to its significant quantitative content and for the possibility of applying those tools to solving complex problems, which I did. • 14. A Stupid Story Today, I am going to tell you a very stupid story, a story as stupid as it is similar to the fairy tale The Emperor s New Clothes . It starts on a gray, windy, and sad October morning where the sky still looks full of grumbling, unhappy, gray clouds even though it s been raining for a week. At this palace called Amalienborg palace where there are four buildings in an octagon shape in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, where nothing exciting ever happens. As if the day didn t already look sad enough, my favourite chocolate sauce just had to run out today without the knowledge of the head chef until it was too late. At which point I threw a tantrum at him for 20 minutes. And then another one after breakfast when the house I tried to build out of waffles fell down, which happens every morning. After feeling satisfied by letting out some anger, I then slowly dragged myself away from the humongous dining room now littered with messy plates, waffles without their golden brown crusts, an empty vanilla ice cream container, and other half eaten food. It was time to go to my office to put my signature on pages of paper filled with words that the prime minister told me I have to agree to in order for them to pass . The building that contained my office was in another building across the square from the one I was in. While I was walking on the cobblestone I almost tripped on the same stone as I did yesterday. • 16. Horse Environmental Changes The environmental changes that took place throughout history caused species of animals to adapt to the changing conditions. One such animal where this is especially apparent is the evolution of the horse. In order to survive, horses evolved traits such as longer limbs, rigid teeth and others that allowed them the best chance of survival. Overall, it is apparent that the morphology of the horse changed due to environmental conditions, especially when studying the fossilized teeth, jaws, and limbs. One of the earliest horse species is known as Hyracotherium. It is believed that this species did not live on open grasslands like modern horses but instead, lived in thick, closed canopy forests. As we saw in lab, the teeth of Hyracotherium are rather pointed which indicates that the species was a browser of leaves and fruits in forests. Its small skull and rostrum also leads one to believe that it had a diet of these easily chewable foods found in closed canopy forests. In contrast, the modern horse has very flat rigid teeth which indicates the species is a grazer of grass. One effective method he uses is flattery, complimenting Annie in order to keep her happy and her mood stable. His use of this move is demonstrated on page 60 in the novel, when he calls Annie his favorite nurse. He uses it again on page 107, telling Annie that she could not be old enough to remember the chapter plays, hinting at how she looks way younger than she actually is. Paul uses this strategy to lighten Annie s mood and keep her happy, which is vital to him because Annie can become very destructive and impatient when angry, consequently being the main source of Paul s pain throughout the book. The Roman poet Horace once asserted that adversity brings out the good aspects of a person or talents while if they were doing great and were prosperous, those talents would not have come out. • 19. Racial Diversity And The School System The discussion of integration in schools have multiple forces that continue to be examined today by race and class. Stratification in today s school systems are segregation in residential neighborhoods. Most attendance in public schools are determined largely by where students live. Predominantly white suburbs and poor minority neighborhoods both are grouped by income and race. This particular grouping can create school districts to be separated by race. Segregation in urban areas of North Carolina schools could be a concern, and the recent expansion of charter schools has brought up new fears with regard to the district s desegregation efforts. Does school choice impact racial diversity and the achievement gap in North Carolina schools? Residential segregation has been a large focal point in education policies since Brown v. Board of Education overturned the separate but equal act for blacks and whites in 1954. This helped create some of the first federal policies in creating integrated schools in America. The ruling in the Supreme Court Case Parents Involved in Community Schools v. Seattle School District No.1 of 2007, also limited the way that districts could use race to determine school assignment. Both rulings introduced the notion of parental choice of schools having the possibility to positively impact school integration. This class focuses on literature reviews and researched arguments, but when I signed up for this class I did not know the difference between the two. Now I know that literature reviews use sources to inform the reader about current studies on a topic, while researched arguments use sources to support the author s claim and persuade the reader. During this class I have learned how to write a literature review/ researched argument as well as many mechanics related to general writing. In English 1302, I was instructed on how to write a literature review and a researched argument. While I found literature reviews to be easier than researched arguments, I still learned how to synthesize sources and their respective information. I realized that I did not need to put in much of my own commentary compared to an argumentative paper. Initially, I could not see how subtopics and themes could connect several pieces of writing just as much as the subject of the paper could. I also used to focus on the authors of sources rather than the connected information written by the authors, but now I focus on the latter. Throughout the progression of civilization, technological advancements have always occurred at the expense of altering and harming the environment; so much so that one of the five types of conflict highlighted in literary writing is human vs. nature. One such story that addresses this conflict is Princess Mononoke by Japanese storyteller Hiyao Miyazaki. Although appearing to be a simple animated children s tale of a boy thrown into a fight between spiritual beings and the human civilization that threatens to encroach upon their territory, Miyazaki delves into an utterly complex commentary on the consequences technological advancements have on its surroundings. Unlike other more mainstream examples from film such as Disney s Pocahontas, James Cameron s Avatar, and the classic Soylent Green, however, Miyazaki chooses not to take a side as he highlights the benevolence of the people that are destroying nature, while forcing the viewer to sympathize with the nature spirits plight simultaneously. Refraining from dealing in absolutes, Princess Mononoke s subject matter develops more nuanced critiques that allow the viewer to craft their own opinions. While Miyazaki chooses not to reach any concrete resolution on how to fix the problems that may arise, he offers a legitimate warning that balance is crucial beyond measure; a balance unattained, even after nearly two decades have passed since the film s release. For example, behaviorism explains why we feel pleasure when we gamble, drink, smoke. Our body releases endorphins which allows us to feel pleasure from doing these things. The first time you feel the rush of gambling is what makes you want to keep gambling, even if it is not in your best interest. One of the pioneers of the behaviorism perspective was John B. Watson.
