The Hitchhiking Game
The feminist literary criticism approach tends to focus on how male authors represent women in their
pieces. For male authors tend to show over masculinity and male dominance, The Hitchhiking Game
by Milan Kundera exhibited how the young man s treatment to the woman throughout this piece was a
prime example of male dominance and misogyny. With the woman having a very passive role, with
her being described as shy and after dating a year, she still acts shy in front of the young man. In
terms, socialization is how a woman should act in society, normally shown through how the woman
acts in the piece, (Mohammed Raiyah, 2012). The woman is displaying how women should show a
level of modesty. When the woman s role conflicting with the young man s view of her, his opinion
her lessened, even though she is trying to portray herself as a woman the young man would find most
attractive. Also, still portraying herself as the submissive counterpart. The Hitchhiking Game unnamed
couple s role playing game revealed how close they actually are and their true expectations for their
relationship. The couple appears to have a conditional relationship with the female being the passive
partner while the young man is the active partner. The woman describes how, She wanted him to be
completely hers and she to be completely his, but it often seemed to her that the more she tried to give
him everything, the more she denied him something: the very thing that a light and superficial love or

The White Family From The Documentary, The Wild And...
This essay examines and analyzes the various behaviors and personalities of the infamous White
family from the documentary, The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia. During this analysis,
topics such as, antisocial personalities, and IQ are applied to specific events that occur in the
documentary. In addition to these mentioned topics, traits that are often associated with criminal
behavior and, the multiplier effect, and the general strain theory. Each of these theories and topics will
directly be associated with a specific behavior or personality that a member of the White family
displays. The general strain theory, can be heavily applied to this documentary as there are an
overabundance of ripples that stem from the multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These choices are often in response to the strain they are already attempting to cope with, IQ plays a
part in how a person copes with the strain or difficulty in their lives. Additionally, listening to any
member of the White family speak, it is highly visible that many of the members lack a basic
education and that their IQ seems to be extremely low. As we have seen, IQ and temperament are
given prominent roles as factors influencing how a person copes with strain and thus how insulated he
or she if from criminal behavior Having antisocial behavior, the lack of education, and not having
gainful employment is closely related to IQ and how it affects a person s life outcomes. Take for
example, Poney White and his family, Poney had issues in his youth with the law, he served his time
and made the decision to move out of Boone County, he is gainfully employed and his children, have
more ambition and the understanding of how the environment in Boone County can affect them
negatively. Poney states that he only had education up until the 7th grade, however he still made the
decision to seek out a better environment and opportunity for himself and his family. The multiplier
effect by Dickens and Flynn, can also be applied to the Whites

Drake And Sir Francis Drake
Francis Drake was born in Crowndale ,England to Edmund Drake in the first half of the 16th century .
His father was a priest. These are the only fact that all the scholars have agreed. When doing my
research for Francis Drake, there have been many constructions of Francis Drake life to convey
Francis Drake as a great Pirate, Admiral, and Hero; Benson conveys Francis Drake as a the hero with
no connections, a lower class upbringing in contrast to Corbett who conveys a Drake as the ideal
gentleman from a middle class upbringing Corbet conveys the background of Francis Drake on how
he became to work for Queen Elizabeth s navy. My question is which depiction of Drake is the most
accurate and Why is Francis Drake depicted differently , throughout the different time periods since
his birth? I will present the three different historiographies that depict Francis Drake from Sir Julian
Corbett, Harry Kelsey and E.F.Benson point of view. I will then state flaws within their construction
of Drake. I will also be using Sir Francis Drake : The Construction of a Hero by Bruce Wathen, to
understand the reasons for the different narration of Drake through material culture of each period.
Benson begins his narration of Drakes boyhood by lamenting that there is no date recorded for the
birth of his [childhood] hero . He presents three miniatures that were taken of Drake to figure out the
year of his birth. The one that he concludes is the most accurate to the year of his birth, is

History And Origins Of Swine
History/Background The history of swine or pigs is very long. It can be traced to fossils dating back
40 million years, or to the Biblical creation. Depending on who is telling the story, the history is bound
to differ. Since pigs were first domesticated and production spread throughout the world, a great deal
has changed in the industry. People have gone from raising a few pigs in their yard for the family to
survive the winter to huge commercial farms which are specialized in farrowing or finishing. The
Swine industry has grown immensely and become quite concentrated, whether this is a good or bad
thing is once again up to the bias of the narrator. Pigs date back 40 million years to fossils according to

There were a number of pigs that escaped as Hernando s herd grew upwards to 700 head, those that
escaped became wild pigs, which are very likely the ancestors of today s feral or razorback pigs. Pig
production spread quickly through the colonies. They were introduced to New Mexico in 1600 by
Hernando Cortes, and Jamestown in Virgina in 1607 by Sir Walter Raleigh. By the close of the 17th
century, the average farmer had four or five pigs which he raised to supply salt pork and bacon for his
own family. It wasn t until after the Revolutionary War that pioneers header west, taking their pigs
with them and growing the American herd. Packing plants began to spring up in major cities. (Pork
Checkoff, 2009 2011).
Changes in the Structure of the U.S. Pork Industry The United States has made a significant shift in
swine production during the past two decades. The countryside used to be filled with small operations
that raised hogs and crops. However, the industry has become much more concentrated among large
operations. Single phase operations are much more prominent and replaced most of the farrow to
finish operations. Between 1992 and 2004 the number of hog farms fell by more than 70%, yet the
hog inventory remained stable as the average operation grew from 945 head in 1992 to 4,646 in 2004
(Key McBride, 2007). Small family farmer operations could not compete with the commercial farms.

Analysis Of Mr Smith Goes To Washington
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is an American political drama/ comedy film directed by Frank Capra

political system. The main character is Jefferson Smith, the newly appointed senator. Smith is the head
of the boy rangers in town and is appointed by Jim Taylor, the political boss of the state governor
Hubert Hopper. Senator Smith is looked after by Senior senator Joseph Paine, an old friend of Smith s

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A policy is a written statement about how you will work in one area of your practice
A procedure are the actions you will take to carry out the procedure.
They should be clear and simple. Your policy should start with a short, clear statement, eg:
POLICY : It is my policy to keep children safe when they are in my care
PROCEDURE: List the things that you will do to ensure that this statement is met. Say HOW you will
do them and WHEN.
You need to think about your practice and premises and make it individual to you and your home.

If I have more than 1 child in my care, I will use my best judgement as to how other children will be
looked after. You would be consulted about this by phone. There is a parent ring round provision in the
event of an emergency to inform all parents of children under my care.
If parents do not arrive or I am unable to contact them, I will stay with the child until the appropriate
treatment has been given and then return home where your child would be cared for until the arrival of
the parents
BEHAVIOUR POLICY
It is my belief that children misbehave because they have not yet learnt how to react to feelings and
needs in acceptable ways.
The most common needs and feelings that can trigger unacceptable behaviour are
Attention, Boredom, Curiosity, Imitation, Self preservation, Independence, Anger, Frustration,
Anxiety, Fear, Excitement, Anticipation
I believe in the Maria Montessori philosophy that confirms:
Behaviour is learnt
Behaviour can change
Rewards work better than punishments
Practice makes perfect
Consistency is the key
Never assume that a child misbehaves intentionally.
Our children are very young and may not have learnt what appropriate behaviour is yet. Children need
to know what we want them to do and it is important that we tell them what we want them to do rather
than what we don t want them to do. Behaviour will be repeated if the underlying children s needs
remain unmet.

Government Shutdown Pros And Cons
On January 20, 2018, the United States government shutdown when the Extension of Continuing
Appropriations Act of 2018, a bill to fund the federal government, failed to pass Congress. The reason
for this was due to disagreements between Democrats and Republicans on a proposed extension to the
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy incorporated into the bill. In response,
Democrats, those who supported the DACA extension, led a filibuster in the Senate that effectively
halted any legislative progress on the bill. Despite Republicans enacting a a cloture vote, a vote to
forcibly end a filibuster, it failed to garner the sixty votes necessary to end the filibuster. As a result,
the government shutdown will furlough thousands of federal

The Changing Role Of Flappers In The 1920 s
The 1920s, out with the old and in with the new. The Roaring Twenties was the decade of change and
prosperity where women wanted to be acknowledged for how they looked and dressed. Young women
also became more independent. This is how the famous term of a flapper came to be. Flappers are
young women and teenagers who dressed and acted differently with controversial behavior.
Flappers brought a dramatic change to society that made women realize how they should be treated. In
the past, women had to be submissive all the time and not voice their opinions. Back in the early
centuries, women were involved in domestic violence and their husbands and boyfriends would
control how they looked and acted. After World War I, many young men who fought did not return
home. This left women to explore the world and try new things. They realized that life was too short
to do anything but have fun. (The Rise of the Flapper). The 1920s was finally the breakthrough of
change women had been waiting for for centuries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality
to men, increased dramatically. They want to be treated equally as men are. Bruce Blivens, an
observer of flappers from the 1920s, stated, Women have highly resolved that they are just as good as
men, and intend to be treated so...they don t intend to be debarred from any profession or occupation
which they choose to enter (The Flapper, Feminism and Flappers). This statement means that women
want to be treated as good as men without the boundaries of gender

Disadvantages of Implementing HTTPS
Cost There is an extra cost to obtain SSL Certificate, and hidden one s are administrative cost for
applying and renewal every year.
Slower HTTPS is somewhat slower in comparison with HTTP. It adds calculation overhead and
network overhead.
HTTPS cannot stop stealing personal information from the webpage s cache on the browser. Because,
SSL only translate data in coding, during transmission while in network, it is clear text in the browser
memory. HTTPS server can only offer one virtual host behind a single socket, whereas HTTP provide
multiple socket.
How would HTTPS will protect you using a public Wi Fi connection at a local coffee shop?
It is made to deliver us sheltered connection all over the place where ever people access protected
websites, still there is constantly a danger of using HTTPS over the public Wi Fi nets. Sometimes
MITM (Man in the Middle Attack) trap the public Wi Fi net. With MITM attacks, it pushes
web/mobile browser to use least SSL / TLS algorithm edition which made easy for hackers to break it
doubtfully. Handler never identify attacker s doubtful actions and turn out to be the victim of cyber
attack. Attackers can crack user s personal and financial, gathers their data and track their internet
activities.
To overcome this situation or best safe option is to use VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection
from your mobile/laptop.
Should all Web traffic be required to use

Strategic And Program Planning Process Within A Healthcare...
Introduction Communication in a healthcare organization is vital towards delivering better services.
Communication is diverse in where various departments must coordinate to respond to diverse and
varied needs of clients within a healthcare organization. Without proper communication, the quality of
work being rendered in the healthcare facility will be compromised. That s why the healthcare
organization should invest communication in strategic and program planning process within a
healthcare organization (Higgerson, 2013). Strategic, as used in this context refers to the particular
plan of action that must be done to achieve the defined goal or the process of developing the particular
plan with the ultimate intention of meeting the certain goal. The development of strategies in a
healthcare organization is usually coordinated in local or national level and focus on a particular topic
within a health care organization. During the communication of a strategy, the main idea behind
communication strategy is embracement and implementation of change in an organization (Gmelch,
Miskin 2011). To boost communication in the healthcare facility, there are various techniques being
used so that the target clients got the message in the simplest language possible. There are varieties of
materials employed in the healthcare centers to pass the message from one person to another. This
essay discusses the roles of communication in the strategic and program planning for the healthcare

Examples Of Foreshadowing In Tangerine
Tangerine is a book full of interesting details and ideas. The protagonist, Paul, attempts to remember
what happened to his eyesight, and why he must wear thick glasses. After moving to Tangerine, Paul
meets new friends and plays his favorite sport, soccer. However, he is constantly overshadowed by the
star of his family, Erik. Paul thinks his brother Erik is a jerk, but everybody else sees him as the great
football star. In Paul s mind, he is the person that is not blind, he can see things his parents could not.
In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Bloor strategically uses suspense and foreshadowing to
portray the theme of standing up to fear. First of all, Bloor uses suspense to display fear, as in page
168, I could see Erik lurking behind me, in the shadows of the imaginary clock. Erik is like a shadow
behind Paul, always ready to jump him. This line is full of suspense, as the meaning is not entirely
clear. It can be interpreted in many ways, however, all of it will eventually unravel and explain the
mystery behind it all. Another quote is on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

These examples of foreshadowing can be seen throughout the story. On page 258, a quote states Tino
crossed the floor and walked up to Erik. Which would mean that Tino is confronting Erik, which
builds up a lot of tension. Another quote on page 214 says Erik, you ll need to give me your key...I got

about a key. Erik has his key in the locker, which makes Erik look suspicious. Leaving his key in the

A Brief Note On Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Essay
DISCUSSION In order to improve the range of the electronic nose, the following must be considered
in order to effectively detect cancers. Primarily, types of cancer must be tested to determine if they
contain compounds detectable by dogs, which would indicate that said specific cancer contains odors
that are possible to be detected through an electronic nose. Secondly, a database must be compiled of
all the different detectable compounds that are unique to each type cancer through scientific research.
After these two steps are complete, a gold nanoparticle sensor must be designed in order detect
compounds specific to each cancer. All in all, the improved electronic nose will be susceptible to
detect cancers it was unable to smell before. The following are the steps involved in this
recommendation and illustrate the processes needed to carry out this project. Cancer Detectability
Cancer Compounds Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Cancer Detectability To be able to
improve the existing electronic nose technology that detects cancers via chemical compounds, it is
required that those compounds are feasible to be detected by a dog. If there is documented history of
dogs accurately detecting a specific type of cancer in humans, or a recent scientific confirmation that
the said specific cancer is odorously detectable through the unique chemical compounds, then the
detection of said type of cancer is feasibly detectable with electronic noses Otherwise, the cancer may

The violence would be caused by mutual hatred which prevails between two different groups of the
people. The poet goes about looking for the places where this violence might break out. Violence
would lead to killings; and the poet looks for the possible places where death might raise its head.
Dead Bodies Kept in the Mortuary:
The poet then speaks about the mortuary where the persons killed in violence would be taken and kept
for post mortem or for identification by the relatives who would naturally like to take away those dead
bodies in order to bury them or cremate them, as the case may be. If kept in a mortuary even for a few
days, a dead body begins to stink because of the decomposition which takes place. Not even the sweet
smelling substances like rose water and flowers can drown that foul smell. There is, in the mortuary,
the dead body of a woman whose husband had cut off her nose on a suspicion of her having adulterous
relations with another man. After having cut off her nose he had even stabbed her in breast, thus
puncturing her lungs.
The Human Capacity for Adjustment:
Man, says the poet, can adjust himself to different conditions. For example, a dead man, if buried in
the earth, remains there firmly. If the same man were to be cremated, he would allow the fire to
consume him quickly. If the dead body were thrown to the birds (like the vultures and the kites), he
would let his flesh be eaten up without

increased 6% compared the sectors net sales in 2010. This includes a 3% growth in sales to
foodservice distributors and 11% increase in sales to convenience stores customers. The reason for the
increase was due to net price realization and prices indexed to commodity markets. The International

sector were a result of a 5% growth in the European market, driven by increased sales in Häagen Dazs

Water Purification
Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants,
suspended solids and gases from contaminated water. The goal is to produce water fit for a specific
purpose. Most water is purified for human consumption (drinking water), but water purification may
also be designed for a variety of other purposes, including meeting the requirements of medical,
pharmacological, chemical and industrial applications. In general the methods used include physical
processes such as filtration, sedimentation, and distillation, biological processes such as slow sand

Deep ground water is generally of very high bacteriological quality (i.e., pathogenic bacteria or the

especiallycarbonates and sulfates of calcium and magnesium. Depending on the strata through which
the water has flowed, other ions may also be present including chloride, and bicarbonate. There may
be a requirement to reduce the iron or manganese content of this water to make it acceptable for
drinking, cooking, and laundry use. Primary disinfection may also be required. Where groundwater

times of plenty so that it is available in times of drought), the groundwater may require additional

Typically located in the headwaters of river systems, upland reservoirs are usually sited above any

Social Security Threats
The Internet today is used by people of various ages. Although the internet is a great and useful
resource, yet internet dangers are around every corner. The use of technology has turned from

Why Is It Important To Have Rules In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel The Lord of the Flies a group of young boys are stranded on an island after their plane
mysteriously crashes.I believe that William Golding was getting the point that a society cannot
function without a basic set of rules and boundaries . Throughout the book their society does
extremely well when they have leadership and simple laws to keep the boys in place. When Jack
decides to start anarchy and disrupts the balance of their system everything goes to hell. In the time
Ralph was in charge one small boy died on the mountain but it was an accident in the time Jack was in
charge two boys were brutally murdered, this just validates my point that a community can not survive
with no laws or rules.

most obscurely, yet most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that, had sat
waiting for them on the platform with the delicate thing balanced on his knees, was set apart (22). I
believe this proves that the conch represents order and government. The glasses on the other hand I
believe that the glasses represent the power of ingenuity and science. Throughout the book the largest
part of innovation and science has been fire. It is everything to the boys they were even will to steal
and lie for it. The glasses are the only real piece of technology on the island. At the point the glasses

Benefits Of Electronic Medical Records
There are many reasons why some health care organizations have been reluctant to use electronic
medical records. First let s talk about, what is an electronic medical record. An (EMR) Electronic
Medical Record consist of standard medical and clinical data gathered in the provider s office which
include a more in debt patient history. EHRs are created to hold and distribute information from all
providers dealing with patient care. EHR data can be created, managed, and advised by authorized
providers and staff from across more than one health care organization. EHRs is another name for
digital paper chart that hold all of the patient s medical history from one practice. While expanding
daily, electronic medical records are becoming extremely popular. Research shows that some
healthcare organizations continue to be reluctant to purchase electronic record programs. The pressure
on hospitals, clinics, systems, physicians and other providers to get with the program is outstanding.
Cost is a major concern for single practitioners, which are least likely among physicians to adopt
EHRs. EHR systems are not cheap by any means. Physicians have to weigh the cost of not only
creating, but supporting their own IT structure and applications as well. The option to decide to use
external vendors to provide the services is given also. Consideration of cost include purchase price,

Rather than seeing the world s nations dividing economic labor and interacting as equal partners,
dependent development suggests that some nations are able to impose unequal exchanges on others
and thus retard the economic development of these nations or make their development dependent on
stronger or more economically advanced nations
Kenya s Development Agenda is anchored on the Kenya Vision 2030, which aims at creating a
globally competitive and prosperous country with a high quality of life by 2030. It aims to transform
Kenya into a newly industrialized, middle income country providing a high quality of life to all its
citizens in a clean and secure environment. Simultaneously, the Vision aspires to meet the Millennium
Development Goals for Kenyans by 2015. Vision 2030 s key goal is the attainment of a nation living
in a clean, secure and sustainable environment driven by the principles of sustainable development. It
is based on the 3 pillars of political, social and economic advancement.
The inadequacy of resources for financing MDGs related activities is highlighted as the main
constraint in Kenya. The 2007/2008 post election violence and the recent crisis such as the food and
fuel crisis present new challenges to the attainment of MDGs in Kenya.
The economy s heavy dependence on rain fed agriculture and the tourism sector leaves it vulnerable to
cycles of boom and bust. The agricultural sector

Pathogenesis Research Paper
Pathogenesis The intestinal tract is responsible for the secretion and reabsorption of fluids and
electrolytes, handling approximately 6,500 mL of fluid / day in an adult. Of this fluid only 2,000 mL
to 3,000 mL comes from fluid consumption. The remaining portion comes from a combination of the
foods we eat, gastric, pancreatic, biliary, and upper intestinal secretions. (Center for Disease Control
and Prevention, 2003) In acute gastroenteritis the re absorptive capacity of the gastrointestinal (GI)
tract is overwhelmed, causing diarrhea and leading to dehydration if left untreated. To prevent or
correct dehydration it is important to replace the lost fluids. Due to the overwhelmed GI tract water
alone will not be absorbed and therefore

Impact Of Deregulation On The Trucking Industry
Deregulation And It s Impact On The Trucking Industry
The Trucking Industry is a vital component of commerce in the United States largely because such a
huge portion of all the goods transported in the United States moves by truck. 68.5 percent of all the
freight transportation tonnage moved in the United States according to Costello, B. (2013); and
trucking accounts for 84 percent of all revenue spent moving freight in the transportation industry
according to Bennett, A. (2010). Truck drivers facilitate one of the modes in intermodal transportation
that has in effect created a spatial bridge across the United States. Trucks are the only mode of freight
transport that services 100 percent of the communities in America, with 80 percent ... Show more

It also laid the pathway for the formation of the Interstate commerce commission (ICC) to oversee
compliance with the new law. In 1935 the Motor Carrier Act was passed to regulate the trucking
industry due to pressure from the railroads. In 1980 a subsequent Motor Carrier act was passed to
deregulate the trucking industry. This laid the path for many trucking companies to enter the market.
In 1994 the Trucking Industry Regulatory Reform Act was passed; motor carriers were no longer
required to submit tariffs with the Interstate Commerce Commission. In 1995 the Interstate Commerce

Drinking Culture and American Social Norms
SPEECH #3 PERSUASIVE SPEECH Name: DANIEL C. DILIGENT Title: Lowering the Legal
Drinking Age Specific Purpose: To argue in favor of lowering the minimum legal drinking age in the
United States. Thesis Statement: I will discuss 1) the current legal drinking age, 2) the effect that this
drinking age has upon American social norms, and 3) the potential benefits of a lower drinking age. I.

Alcohol would no longer be perceived as a forbidden fruit
III. CONCLUSION In conclusion, the current law setting the minimum drinking age at 21 has failed
in its effort to keep America s young people safe from the dangerous aspects of alcohol consumption.
In addition to being ineffective, the law impinges upon the rights of individuals to partake in activities
which are otherwise pervasive in today s American social culture. Though those who are 18 years old
are considered adults in nearly all facets of the law, including voting rights and the ability to join the
military, they are still treated as minors when it comes to drinking. If an 18 year old is old enough to
make those important decisions, then he or she is certainly old enough to decide whether or not he or
she is ready to consume alcohol. Because of the current laws, young men and women are compelled to
furtively experiment with alcohol. Rather than beginning their drinking experiences under the
supervision of responsible adults, the young people do so in secret, because the laws and the culture
they have created refuse to allow them to explore their natural curiosities. By lowering the drinking
age, the U.S. can begin to raise more responsible drinkers, who will not be as prone to alcohol abuse
or addiction as today s Americans are. Thank you.

Islamic Law And Islamic Banking
Forty years ago, the Islamic banking industry was created, on a modest scale, to fill a gap in a banking
system that was not listening to the fervent Muslim believers. Morocco has been following the same
development in offering Islamic finance services to its citizens through Islamic windows in
conventional banks. In parallel to this development of the Islamic financial industry in Morocco, it
seems very crucial to evaluate critically based on Maliki law school the previous experience of Islamic
windows in conventional banks. Taking into considerations, the differences between schools in the
interpretation and implementation of Islamic law in economy life, the objective of this paper was to
critically analysis the practice of Islamic banks in Morocco. This paper aimed at analyzing the
characteristics of different schools of Islamic law and how this would affect Islamic banking. The final
aim of this paper was to highlight the importance of jurisprudence/ new interpretations in developing
Islamic banking. Qualitative methodology based on semi directive interviewees was the main
approach for this paper. Three levels of gaps have been found out. These gaps are related respectively
to Murabaha, Musharaka and Ijara. Three recommendations have been advised to fill the gaps:

The Dark Knight
You only have your thoughts and dreams ahead of you. You are someone. You mean something. Very
inspirational quote right, maybe it came from the president or Oprah, someone big right? It came from
a fictional character in a comic book, Batman the Dark Knight. Comics have become something
greater than what people consider them to be. Especially the characters portrayed in said comics.
Comic books are literally larger than life, the characters in these comics may have superpowers or live
in a place that would only exist in the craziest of dreams. But they are written so well that it really
does convince one to believe that a place like this may actually exist and that anything can happen in
it. This is how they get the reader, into the comic; and because of this you are entertained. We read our
favorite comic books and take in the lessons written in each and every page. Such as Batman. Batman
is one of the greatest and well known heroes in the comic book world. He has been very popular in
pop culture throughout the years because of television and movie adaptations.
When I was growing up I was first introduced to the Dark Knight by my dad when he would turn on
the television every Saturday morning and tune into Batman The Animated Series. I remember
instantly gaining interest in it because he was really cool, he fought bad guys, and he had all these
gadgets that helped him fight for justice.

The two treatment modalities were early surgical treatment with rehabilitation, and aggressive early

thought on treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries between surgical and non surgical. (Frobell,
Roos, Roos, Ranstan, Lohmander, 2010)
This study was a randomized control trial in patients of 18 to 35 years of age, who presented to an
emergency department with recent rational knee trauma to a previously uninjured knee within the last
four weeks. Anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency was determined by clinical exam, and a score of

Rain On The Roof Analysis
12079 The most engaging writers will make themselves known through their texts It is indisputable
that the most engaging writers are those who reflect upon some of their own deepest feelings
throughout their texts and make themselves known to the reader. Janet Frame interweaves her classic
cynical style of writing into her poems Rain on the Roof , The Tree and The Chrysalids and explores
many of the unspoken, hard truths of humanity. Frame characteristically utilizes language techniques
of first person narration, vivid imagery with references to nature and extended metaphors to express
her ideas of conformity, guilt, and suffering all of which revolve around the enigmatic side to
humanity which often goes untold in literature. Frame ingrains some of her own emotions and
experiences into these texts which enables readers to connect to her writing on a personal level and
identify more specifically with her disposition. I did not know. I would never have believed that every
house I stole contained a jewel. First person narration is an effective technique utilised to make the
reader confront the idea of repentance in the poem The Chrysalids . Here, Frame describes a personal
experience from her childhood which she now looks back on in shame. We observe her honest
emotion as she narrates I feel compassion for the world I robbed . From a more mature perspective,
she is able to see the destruction she innocently caused as a child. First person narration is employed
again in another one of Frame s poems, Rain on the Roof. Once more, this language technique invites
the reader into Frame s world of hardship and affliction and her style enables readers to feel her
seclusion as if it were their own. In this poem, Frame observes the way in which her nephew handles
his grief by recapturing the sound of rain falling on the roof . Similar to The Chrysalids, this poem is a
retrospective and Frame narrates in a rather blunt and condescending tone. Her distinctive voice shows
through as she comments I do not say to him, The heart has its own comfort for grief , symbolising the
fact that her nephew must find strength from within to cope with his pain. In both poems, Frame
empathises the universal theme of

Plato, Aristotle, and Moses Essay
Households, cities, countries, and nations have enjoyed great happiness when a single individual has
taken heed of the Good and Beautiful. Such people not only liberate themselves; they fill those they
meet with a free mind. Philo of Alexandria
Athens, via Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, and Jerusalem through the Hebrew Scriptures, refer to two
general and fundamental ways of life: the life of free inquiry on the one hand, the life of obedience to
God s law on the other. As discussed in class, the fact that most do not read the Hebrew Scriptures as a
politically philosophical text, they are overlooking some fundamental political principles that are
similar and complimentary to the Greeks.

And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out
of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain. Moses said to God, Suppose I go to the Israelites

Then what shall I tell them? God said to Moses, I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the
Israelites: I am has sent me to you.
The transformation that Moses undergoes, having seen the face of God at the burning bush is similar
to Plato s Analogy of the Cave . He emerges with a mission, a calling that is to consume his life;
leading the people to truth and justice. Bringing them forth from the darkness of Egypt into the light of
Canaan. Like the man who returns to the cave having seen the light, Moses trustablitiy is doubted
many times. Moses was rejected by his people many times. First, by the Hebrews as he attempted to
help them by killing the overseer, sending him into exile. Secondly, by the Egyptians for siding with
the slaves. Thirdly, by the Israelites during his attempt to lead them safely to the Promised Land. Like
the Israelites, the Athenians did not understand, or refused to accept, the teachings of Socrates, which
were intended to renew private and public morality; leading to is eventual condemnation and a
nightcap of hemlock. Following the death of Socrates, many of his students

An Ambitious Treatment For The Aids Epidemic
In September of 2016, Sweden became officially recognized as the first country in the world to
achieve the UN s 90 90 90 goal. This goal means that 90% of people living with HIV will know their
HIV status, 90% of people will receive antiretroviral therapy, and 90% of people receiving
antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression. These goals were enacted by the UNAIDS group in
2014 and the 90 90 90 goal has a target year of 2020. UNAIDS is referring to this as an ambitious
treatment target to help end the AIDS epidemic (90 90 90 An Ambitious Treatment). It is ambitious,
but it is clear that is goal is possible in at least a single country. The fact that Sweden was able to reach
the UNAIDS s goal within 2 years is incredible. While this goal was achievable in Sweden, the
possibility that another country can reach it in the exact same way that Sweden was able to is not
likely. Sweden has unique characteristics that have allowed it to attain this goal such as small outbreak
size, healthcare access and national guidelines (Carter). The data was nationally collected to determine
Sweden s progress in reaching the 90 90 90 goal. By the end of 2015, Sweden had reached and
surpassed the UN s goal. They had 90% of cases diagnosed, 99.8% of people were linked to
antiretroviral therapy and 95% of people taking antiretroviral for 6 months or more had a viral load
below 50 copies/ml (Carter). The use of antiretroviral therapy in many patients who have HIV has

Animal Testing For The Sole Benefit Of Humans
For years, there has been a debate regarding the use of animals in medical testing for the sole benefit
of humans. Many people believe that testing on nonhuman animals solve the many issues that humans
face, but most of the time animals are exploited and put through painful experimental processes. The
purpose of this paper is to examine the possible alternatives to animal testing and the evaluate whether
there is a reduction in animals being used for experiments. The author of this paper will examine four
journal articles titled as the following: Accept No Substitutes: The Ethics of Alternatives, Scientists
and Animal Research: Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde?, Strategic Focus on 3R Principles Reveals Major
Reductions in the Use of Animals in Pharmaceutical Toxicity Testing, No Animals Harmed: Toward a
Paradigm Shift in Toxicity Testing. Each journal article highlights different arguments of the said
problem and reveals information about animal testing that many may not be aware of. The author will
summarize all four journal articles and apply a response to each one.
Joel Marks, the writer of the Accept No Substitutes: The Ethics of Alternatives journal, aims to
express the reason why alternatives to animal testing should not be considered. Marks (2012) starts
out by stating that it is common to argue that animal experimentation is justified by its essential
contribution to the advancement of medical science (p. 1). According to Marks, this argument contains
an empirical claim that

Advocate And Serve
Crutchfield and Grant identify six practices of high impact nonprofits: advocate and serve, make
markets work, inspire evangelists, nurture nonprofit networks, master the art of adaptation, and share
leadership. All of these practices proved to be crucial in the success of the twelve featured nonprofits,
however, there are two practices that I find to be more intriguing than the rest. Advocate and serve and
inspire evangelists are the two practices that stand out. The practice of advocate and serve was a new
concept to me, which is, in part, why I found it particularly interesting. The practice of inspiring
evangelists, is a concept I am familiar with, but I have never seen it articulated this well.
Advocate and serve is complex practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be the answer to the issue addressed by Berger and Neuhaus in their essay entitled, To
Empower People: From State to Civil Society. They write about the paradox of the public s desire for
public services, coupled with their resistance to government intervention. When nonprofits are
successful in advocating within the government sphere, they expand opportunities through means such
as: increased government funding, tax breaks, changes to tax codes, policy changes, raised awareness,
and, ultimately, changes to public behavior. These results allow nonprofits the opportunity to
maximize their impact, therefore fulfilling the public need while keeping the government seemingly
uninvolved.
Regardless of one s beliefs on integrating advocacy and service, it is difficult to dispute that social
aliments we face today stem from a deeper issue within the infrastructure of our society. Direct service
organizations offer temporary solutions, a Band Aid, if you will, to buy time for change. Advocacy
groups aim to resolve the root problem that results in the need for the Band Aid. We need direct
service organizations. We need advocacy groups. Does it make sense for the two to be one in the

Should The Military Occupation Of Israel
Apart from the growth of infrastructure, the military occupation needs to end so that the Palestinian
people can move freely through Palestine because the current restrictions through the occupation
destroy Palestine s ability to self govern. We need to end the military occupation; it has gone on long
enough. After the Oslo Accords, the West Bank is now comprised of small detached Palestinian areas
within a continuous Israeli controlled region (Le More 984). For eventual stability, Israel must
relinquish its control of the West Bank and Gaza. The occupation creates the conditions for Palestinian
hatred of Israel, especially when Israel bans travel between Palestinian villages in the West Bank
through the presence of military personnel and checkpoints (Hadid Sengupta). Israelis need to let
Palestine be a state, and if they support its development, the Palestinians will hate Israel less.
Palestinians need to be able to go throughout the West Bank, or else there will never be self
determination. To grant further autonomy, Israel should allow for more transportation between Gaza
and the West Bank. A road between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip would drastically improve the
free movement of the Palestinian people (Hazboun). If there is more freedom of movement, Palestine
would get more opportunity to develop, and Israel would dampen the anti Israeli sentiments amongst
the Palestinians. The freedom of movement can only occur if the occupation ends; Israeli withdrawal

Flood warnings must be provided with an adequate lead time for the public and the emergency
services to take actions to minimize flood damages.
Real time flood forecasting is an important and integral part of a flood warning service, and can help
to provide more accurate and timely warnings. Depending on catchment characteristics and catchment
response to rainfall, various types of flood forecasting models, including correlations, simple trigger
flood forecasting, and more sophisticated real time catchment wide integrated hydrological and
hydrodynamic models may be adopted. These models provide flow and level forecasts at the selected
key locations known as Forecast Points, which are usually located along major rivers or on streams
near urban areas that have a history of flooding.

around the world instead? I know I do, a lot. I especially think about what strengths I will need in
order to take part in college and achieve my goal of being an architect. However, I can tell that my
abilities of getting work done and learn new things quickly will lead me to graduating high school
with a 4.0 grade point average and attending Stanford college which will let me access my dream job
or becoming an architect. But before I can go to Stanford, I first have to work on my skills.
The skills I need to achieve my goals are; getting my work done fast and learning new things quickly.
If I get my work done fast it will help me achieve my high school goals of getting good grades, joining
sports teams and socially interacting with others and here s why. First of all, getting my work done
fast can result in having a lot of extra free time to do things like hanging out with friends and doing
extra curriculum activities like sports. Second of all, if I get all my work done quickly i ll have
everything turned in resulting with a good grade, maybe even a 4.0 grade point average. My other skill
of learning new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of my high school goals is to join multiple sports teams. Another one of my goals is to socially
interact with new people and finally my last goal is to graduate high school with a 4.0gpa. I will
achieve this goal by turning all my work in so i ll be able to sign up for a sport because my grades will
be higher. When I play and practice my sports i ll then be able to socially interact with people that I
would never envision hanging out with. For example; People from all different friend groups come
and play all together so i ll be able to meet them and probably become friends with them. Also when I
compete with other teams I will be able to meet them and maybe even get to know them a

The Reproductive Rights Of Women
The reproductive rights of women have always been a hotly debated topic between those who support
a women s right to an abortion and those who vehemently oppose it. The United States Supreme Court
ruled in the landmark case Roe vs. Wade that it was legally a woman s right to have an abortion in
1973, and clearly outlines that states cannot pass laws that create an undue burden for women who
choose to exercise their rights and terminate their pregnancy. Since then, there have been consistent
challenges from many states along with pro life organizations all over the country to find ways to limit
and to control the reproductive rights of women. In 1992, even though the ruling of Roe vs. Wade was
confirmed in the case of Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, the Supreme Court also ruled that states can
create regulations to limit abortions in order to protect the safety and health of the mother and the life
of the unborn fetus. The outcome has resulted in several traditionally conservative states including
Arkansas, Texas, North Dakota and Indiana passing laws that are cleverly disguised as rules to protect
women, but ultimately makes it extremely difficult if not all together impossible for women to seek a
legal abortion.
On March 2nd, 2016, the state of Texas, a state that already has some of the toughest abortion laws in
the United States of America, had one of its most controversial bills Senate Bill 2, also known as
House Bill 2 or HB2, challenged by the case Whole Woman s Health

Advantages Of Remote Corrosion Monitoring
Advantages of remote corrosion monitoring There are a variety of remote corrosion monitoring
systems that enable maintenance personel and plant operators to get accurate measurements of
corrosion activity wirelessly hence delivering significant cost benefits. The remote solutions collect
and transmit the data from remote as well as hazardous locations and does not require running wires
between the control room and the location. Amongs the benefits of remote corrosion are Almost all
types of corrosion can be monitored Saving on time and costs, the remote corrosion monitoring leads
to more productivity, reliability and profitability. Enables the company to obtain and utilize corroion
data from hazadous location, remote locations or other inaccessible areas due to high cost of wiring.
Majority of the systems and transmitters are easy to install and takes only a few minutes, making it
possible to get the information back to the control systems, quickly. The remote moniroting systems
provides a flexible means to monitor corrosion in applications;  Where it is difficult to reach some of
the parts or areas  Remote locations  There is no access to power  Require frequent reconfiguring
 Locations where corrosion monitoring has been previously performed manually Monitor the
effectiveness of the corrosion protection method such as the CP any time, from anywhere and using

Outline For Pride And Prejudice
1. Analyze how unifying society through means of convention can impact relationships and

The Deaf Community and Its Culture
During registration last semester, when I decided to take this course to see if I wanted to continue
onward with ASL as my minor, I was not sure what to expect. Through my brief introduction of Deaf
culture during my first sign language courses, I knew some vague details about historical events.
Gallaudet had been mentioned several times within not only my workbook, but also by my professor. I
could have given you a short synopsis of the oral movement that threatened to wipe ASL out as a
language. Though I knew these facts, and a few traits about Deaf culture that I had experienced
firsthand, there was so much that I had not considered before the readings and journals for this course
opened my eyes. The Deaf community is a group that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As ASL is a visual language, it is necessary that both of the people move to a different room if they
wish to discuss something in private. Without the readings for this class, most of these social rules
would have been lost on me. One of the biggest changes I have noted in myself in the course of the
semester is how my view of deafness has changed through meeting Deaf people and experiencing
Deaf culture. Prior to this course, or any of my sign language courses, it is safe to say that I would
have considered deafness a disability. It is not to say that I considered Deaf people any less intelligent
or able bodied than those with normal hearing, I certainly did not. If the topic of deafness ever came
up, I mourned for the sense that I considered Deaf people to be deprived of. Having met several Deaf
people now, I understand that even though they cannot hear like the average person, they gained the
support and the culture that comes with involvement in the Deaf community. I am a communication
disorders major at Western Kentucky University, and my hope is to eventually become a speech
language pathologist. When I first started taking ASL classes, it was to not only gain knowledge of a
language I found interesting, but to also aid in my communication skills with others, should I ever
meet Deaf people either at work or in my free

Setting and Atmosphere In the short story ?Babylon Revisited? written by F. Scott Fitzgerald the
setting takes place in France in the city of Paris. The main place of the story is Marion?s home,
although the story?s setting shifts from hotel, to shops, to restaurants, and other lavish locations of
wealth along with the simple streets of the city both day and night. Fitzgerald may have made the
setting take place here because of the dreams of prosperity and youth that the city atmosphere
generates. . The time it takes place is after the crash of the stock market in America. This could be
because of the financial decline during this time which would make sense for ?Babylon

Looking Glass Wars Theme
In The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, the story of Alice in Wonderland is retold, but with a
twist. Instead of Alice going to Wonderland because she wants to live in a different place, Alice
(Alyss) lives in Wonderland, and the book was written about her life. Alyss experiences many
obstacles in her journey to the real world. She ends up in England where she is then convinced that
Wonderland isn t real and that it was all just her imagination. However, to her surprise, she ends up
back in Wonderland and back in the same troubles in which she left behind. By changing the plot of
the story, the themes of the original story have been tweaked. One of the major themes in this book is
love and sacrifice. This theme is shown mainly through three ... Show more content on

Alyss is the princess (soon to be queen) of Wonderland. Alyss loved her home in Wonderland very
much, so when she entered the real world, she would get into fights because people made fun of her
for believing it was real. Alyss got into fights and traded insults with her tormentors, often returning
home scraped, bruised, and humiliated. (128). She is standing up for what she believes in
(Wonderland) and if that means that she is going to be beat up, so be it. Alyss also sacrificed her life
when she was fighting Redd to regain her place on the throne. She didn t fight for just herself, she
fought for everyone in Wonderland that is being held under Redd s rules. I m stronger than you are,
Redd (347). In conclusion, Alyss is a very brave princess and she has taken many sacrifices to ensure

Dierks Bentley Research Papers
Keeping it all cool and relaxed in a very demanding genre such as country music requires adamant
skill and incomparable passion. Not all country musicians have the guts to stay afloat and be resilient,
causing some of them to fall off the trail and never regained what they started anymore. Some have
succumbed into the notion that being known once and for a short period of time will suit them well
already, while for those who planned to stay as soon as their audience needs them, loving the craft and
being addicted to fame are key points for you to succeed. We have known bag shot names such as
Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Alison Krauss and Shania Twain to have dominated the country music realm,
and yet, we know in our subconscious that there are other great artists just waiting for us to unravel.
Take for example the admirable Dierks Bentley, a man who got the country music flowing through his
blood as if he s created just to serve this genre. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION
Give a brief description in your own words of the objectives and aims of this practical.
The aim of this practical was to discover the effects that numerous hormones and drugs have on the
sample ileum s nerves and relate this to the human autonomic nervous system.
The objectives include observing the change in contractions during different levels of stimulation and
inhibition, such as that from different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A decrease in stimulus frequency results in a greater number of contractions within the ileum. An
increase in the stimulus frequency results in a decrease in the release of neurotransmitters, further
inhibiting the contractions of the ileum.
B. MIMICKING THE ACTION OF THE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM USING DRUGS
 Attach copies of your experimental recordings showing the response of the ileum to the direct
addition of noradrenaline and of acetylcholine to the tissue bath.
1) What was the final bath concentration of noradrenaline you used? Briefly describe the response of
the ileum to the direct addition of noradrenaline.
2) What was the final bath concentration of acetylcholine you used? Briefly describe the response of
the ileum to the direct addition of acetylcholine.
3) Since an inhibitory response to nerve stimulation was observed in all (or most) of the tissues
studied in the practical, how is differential control (i.e., both inhibition and excitation) of gut
contraction achieved in the body? Is it always inhibitory in vivo? What happens in the intact animal?

Beer Novembert Law Lab Report
Using the Beer Lambert Law, it can be interpreted that variation of the concentration in relation to the
constant and the path length of the cuvette will be the sole factor in changing the absorption rate of a
solution, since the length of the cuvette remains 1 cm throughout the duration of the experiment. A
calibration curve that compares the values for the absorbances and the concentrations of the yellow
and blue dye can be found in figures 1 and 2 respectively.
Figure 1. Shows the calibration curve for the absorption relative to the concentration (M) of the yellow
dye
Figure 2. Shows the calibration curve for the absorption relative to the concentration (M) of the blue
dye
Theoretically, both curves should show a linear line that starts ... Show more content on

As with the yellow dye, it was observed that there was no connection to be made between the
absorption and the wavelength. Nevertheless, it was identified that the statistics we received regarding
our wavelength did not emulate that which was found with many of the other groups during the
experiment. Our wavelength remained consistent throughout the dilution of the substance, while
others found that the wavelength decreased as did the concentration of their solution. This brings up
the question of whether diluting a substance will affect the wavelength at which it will reach its peak
absorption. It has already been concluded that concentration and absorption are inversely proportional,
but the relationship the wavelength is intended to have is not addresses. As one dilutes a solution, the
overall volume of water present increases. But, as water is clear, it does not have a position on the
color wheel, and a direct estimation of the wavelength at which it reaches its peak wavelength cannot
be determined based on current data. However, as we were the only ones that obtained a consistent
wavelength regardless of the concentration, it can inferred that there was likely some type of error.
Initial thoughts lead to it the most likely source being systematic error with the UV VIS spectrometer,
as the only possible source of personal error that could have lead to these results would be

For male authors tend to show over masculinity and male dominance, The Hitchhiking Game by Milan Kundera exhibited how the young man s treatment to the woman throughout this piece was a prime example of male dominance and misogyny. With the woman having a very passive role, with her being described as shy and after dating a year, she still acts shy in front of the young man. In terms, socialization is how a woman should act in society, normally shown through how the woman acts in the piece, (Mohammed Raiyah, 2012). The woman is displaying how women should show a level of modesty. When the woman s role conflicting with the young man s view of her, his opinion her lessened, even though she is trying to portray herself as a woman the young man would find most attractive. Also, still portraying herself as the submissive counterpart. The Hitchhiking Game unnamed couple s role playing game revealed how close they actually are and their true expectations for their relationship. The couple appears to have a conditional relationship with the female being the passive partner while the young man is the active partner. The woman describes how, She wanted him to be completely hers and she to be completely his, but it often seemed to her that the more she tried to give him everything, the more she denied him something: the very thing that a light and superficial love or a ... These are the only fact that all the scholars have agreed. When doing my research for Francis Drake, there have been many constructions of Francis Drake life to convey Francis Drake as a great Pirate, Admiral, and Hero; Benson conveys Francis Drake as a the hero with no connections, a lower class upbringing in contrast to Corbett who conveys a Drake as the ideal gentleman from a middle class upbringing Corbet conveys the background of Francis Drake on how he became to work for Queen Elizabeth s navy. My question is which depiction of Drake is the most accurate and Why is Francis Drake depicted differently , throughout the different time periods since his birth? I will present the three different historiographies that depict Francis Drake from Sir Julian Corbett, Harry Kelsey and E.F.Benson point of view. I will then state flaws within their construction of Drake. I will also be using Sir Francis Drake : The Construction of a Hero by Bruce Wathen, to understand the reasons for the different narration of Drake through material culture of each period. Benson begins his narration of Drakes boyhood by lamenting that there is no date recorded for the birth of his [childhood] hero . He presents three miniatures that were taken of Drake to figure out the year of his birth. The one that he concludes is the most accurate to the year of his birth, is ... Depending on who is telling the story, the history is bound to differ. Since pigs were first domesticated and production spread throughout the world, a great deal has changed in the industry. People have gone from raising a few pigs in their yard for the family to survive the winter to huge commercial farms which are specialized in farrowing or finishing. The Swine industry has grown immensely and become quite concentrated, whether this is a good or bad thing is once again up to the bias of the narrator. There were a number of pigs that escaped as Hernando s herd grew upwards to 700 head, those that escaped became wild pigs, which are very likely the ancestors of today s feral or razorback pigs. Pig production spread quickly through the colonies. They were introduced to New Mexico in 1600 by Hernando Cortes, and Jamestown in Virgina in 1607 by Sir Walter Raleigh. By the close of the 17th century, the average farmer had four or five pigs which he raised to supply salt pork and bacon for his own family. It wasn t until after the Revolutionary War that pioneers header west, taking their pigs with them and growing the American herd. Packing plants began to spring up in major cities. (Pork Checkoff, 2009 2011). Changes in the Structure of the U.S. Pork Industry The United States has made a significant shift in swine production during the past two decades. The countryside used to be filled with small operations that raised hogs and crops. However, the industry has become much more concentrated among large operations. Single phase operations are much more prominent and replaced most of the farrow to finish operations. Between 1992 and 2004 the number of hog farms fell by more than 70%, yet the hog inventory remained stable as the average operation grew from 945 head in 1992 to 4,646 in 2004 (Key McBride, 2007). The Roaring Twenties was the decade of change and prosperity where women wanted to be acknowledged for how they looked and dressed. Young women also became more independent. This is how the famous term of a flapper came to be. Flappers are young women and teenagers who dressed and acted differently with controversial behavior. Flappers brought a dramatic change to society that made women realize how they should be treated. In the past, women had to be submissive all the time and not voice their opinions. Back in the early centuries, women were involved in domestic violence and their husbands and boyfriends would control how they looked and acted. After World War I, many young men who fought did not return home. This left women to explore the world and try new things. They realized that life was too short to do anything but have fun. • 15. A Brief Note On Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Essay DISCUSSION In order to improve the range of the electronic nose, the following must be considered in order to effectively detect cancers. Primarily, types of cancer must be tested to determine if they contain compounds detectable by dogs, which would indicate that said specific cancer contains odors that are possible to be detected through an electronic nose. Secondly, a database must be compiled of all the different detectable compounds that are unique to each type cancer through scientific research. After these two steps are complete, a gold nanoparticle sensor must be designed in order detect compounds specific to each cancer. All in all, the improved electronic nose will be susceptible to detect cancers it was unable to smell before. The following are the steps involved in this recommendation and illustrate the processes needed to carry out this project. Cancer Detectability Cancer Compounds Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Cancer Detectability To be able to improve the existing electronic nose technology that detects cancers via chemical compounds, it is required that those compounds are feasible to be detected by a dog. If there is documented history of dogs accurately detecting a specific type of cancer in humans, or a recent scientific confirmation that the said specific cancer is odorously detectable through the unique chemical compounds, then the detection of said type of cancer is feasibly detectable with electronic noses Otherwise, the cancer may not ... If kept in a mortuary even for a few days, a dead body begins to stink because of the decomposition which takes place. One of the best ways to stay safe on the internet is to never give out any personal data, for example, home address, school name, phone number, and inappropriate pictures. Why Is It Important To Have Rules In Lord Of The Flies In the novel The Lord of the Flies a group of young boys are stranded on an island after their plane mysteriously crashes.I believe that William Golding was getting the point that a society cannot function without a basic set of rules and boundaries . Throughout the book their society does extremely well when they have leadership and simple laws to keep the boys in place. When Jack decides to start anarchy and disrupts the balance of their system everything goes to hell. In the time Ralph was in charge one small boy died on the mountain but it was an accident in the time Jack was in charge two boys were brutally murdered, this just validates my point that a community can not survive with no laws or rules. Jack and Ralph first meet and the beach and establish their leadership roles among the boys. The boys feel as though they need a chief and have a vote, Ralph wins the vote and after seeing Jack s ... The being that had blown that, had sat waiting for them on the platform with the delicate thing balanced on his knees, was set apart (22). I believe this proves that the conch represents order and government. The glasses on the other hand I believe that the glasses represent the power of ingenuity and science. Throughout the book the largest part of innovation and science has been fire. It is everything to the boys they were even will to steal and lie for it. • 21. Benefits Of Electronic Medical Records There are many reasons why some health care organizations have been reluctant to use electronic medical records. First let s talk about, what is an electronic medical record. An (EMR) Electronic Medical Record consist of standard medical and clinical data gathered in the provider s office which include a more in debt patient history. EHRs are created to hold and distribute information from all providers dealing with patient care. EHR data can be created, managed, and advised by authorized providers and staff from across more than one health care organization. EHRs is another name for digital paper chart that hold all of the patient s medical history from one practice. While expanding daily, electronic medical records are becoming extremely popular. Research shows that some healthcare organizations continue to be reluctant to purchase electronic record programs. The pressure on hospitals, clinics, systems, physicians and other providers to get with the program is outstanding. Cost is a major concern for single practitioners, which are least likely among physicians to adopt EHRs. EHR systems are not cheap by any means. Physicians have to weigh the cost of not only creating, but supporting their own IT structure and applications as well. The option to decide to use external vendors to provide the services is given also. Consideration of cost include purchase price, coordination cost, monitoring cost, and negotiating cost along with upgrade costs, and governance cost. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CONCLUSION In conclusion, the current law setting the minimum drinking age at 21 has failed in its effort to keep America s young people safe from the dangerous aspects of alcohol consumption. In addition to being ineffective, the law impinges upon the rights of individuals to partake in activities which are otherwise pervasive in today s American social culture. Though those who are 18 years old are considered adults in nearly all facets of the law, including voting rights and the ability to join the military, they are still treated as minors when it comes to drinking. If an 18 year old is old enough to make those important decisions, then he or she is certainly old enough to decide whether or not he or she is ready to consume alcohol. Because of the current laws, young men and women are compelled to furtively experiment with alcohol. Rather than beginning their drinking experiences under the supervision of responsible adults, the young people do so in secret, because the laws and the culture they have created refuse to allow them to explore their natural curiosities. By lowering the drinking age, the U.S. can begin to raise more responsible drinkers, who will not be as prone to alcohol abuse or addiction as today s Americans are. Thank you. IV. BIBLIOGRAPHY 1. • 30. Rain On The Roof Analysis 12079 The most engaging writers will make themselves known through their texts It is indisputable that the most engaging writers are those who reflect upon some of their own deepest feelings throughout their texts and make themselves known to the reader. Janet Frame interweaves her classic cynical style of writing into her poems Rain on the Roof , The Tree and The Chrysalids and explores many of the unspoken, hard truths of humanity. Frame characteristically utilizes language techniques of first person narration, vivid imagery with references to nature and extended metaphors to express her ideas of conformity, guilt, and suffering all of which revolve around the enigmatic side to humanity which often goes untold in literature. Frame ingrains some of her own emotions and experiences into these texts which enables readers to connect to her writing on a personal level and identify more specifically with her disposition. I did not know. I would never have believed that every house I stole contained a jewel. First person narration is an effective technique utilised to make the reader confront the idea of repentance in the poem The Chrysalids . Here, Frame describes a personal experience from her childhood which she now looks back on in shame. We observe her honest emotion as she narrates I feel compassion for the world I robbed . From a more mature perspective, she is able to see the destruction she innocently caused as a child. First person narration is employed again in another one of Frame s poems, Rain on the Roof. Once more, this language technique invites the reader into Frame s world of hardship and affliction and her style enables readers to feel her seclusion as if it were their own. In this poem, Frame observes the way in which her nephew handles his grief by recapturing the sound of rain falling on the roof . Similar to The Chrysalids, this poem is a retrospective and Frame narrates in a rather blunt and condescending tone. Her distinctive voice shows through as she comments I do not say to him, The heart has its own comfort for grief , symbolising the fact that her nephew must find strength from within to cope with his pain. In both poems, Frame empathises the universal theme of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people believe that testing on nonhuman animals solve the many issues that humans face, but most of the time animals are exploited and put through painful experimental processes. The purpose of this paper is to examine the possible alternatives to animal testing and the evaluate whether there is a reduction in animals being used for experiments. The author of this paper will examine four journal articles titled as the following: Accept No Substitutes: The Ethics of Alternatives, Scientists and Animal Research: Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde?, Strategic Focus on 3R Principles Reveals Major Reductions in the Use of Animals in Pharmaceutical Toxicity Testing, No Animals Harmed: Toward a Paradigm Shift in Toxicity Testing. The author will summarize all four journal articles and apply a response to each one. Joel Marks, the writer of the Accept No Substitutes: The Ethics of Alternatives journal, aims to express the reason why alternatives to animal testing should not be considered. Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering, IFET college of Engineering, Villupuram. ABSTRACT Artificial intelligent models (AIMs) have been successfully adopted in hydrological forecasting in a plenty of literatures. However, the comprehensive comparison of their applicability in particular short term (i.e. hourly) water level prediction under heavy rainfall events was rarely discussed. Therefore, in this study, the artificial neural networks (ANN), Intelligent multi agent approach, Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) were selected for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flood warnings must be provided with an adequate lead time for the public and the emergency services to take actions to minimize flood damages. Real time flood forecasting is an important and integral part of a flood warning service, and can help to provide more accurate and timely warnings. Depending on catchment characteristics and catchment response to rainfall, various types of flood forecasting models, including correlations, simple trigger flood forecasting, and more sophisticated real time catchment wide integrated hydrological and hydrodynamic models may be adopted. These models provide flow and level forecasts at the selected key locations known as Forecast Points, which are usually located along major rivers or on streams near urban areas that have a history of flooding. 2. ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK: ANN consists of a large number of parallel processing neuros, working independently and connecting to each other by weighted links. It is capable of simulating complex nonlinear system due to its ability of self learning, self adaption and generalization. The feed forward neural network (FFNN), with one input layer, one or more hidden layer and one output layer, is employed in this study. BP algorithm, firstly introduced by Rumelhart, is employed for training. The global error ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I especially think about what strengths I will need in order to take part in college and achieve my goal of being an architect. However, I can tell that my abilities of getting work done and learn new things quickly will lead me to graduating high school with a 4.0 grade point average and attending Stanford college which will let me access my dream job or becoming an architect. But before I can go to Stanford, I first have to work on my skills. The skills I need to achieve my goals are; getting my work done fast and learning new things quickly. If I get my work done fast it will help me achieve my high school goals of getting good grades, joining sports teams and socially interacting with others and here s why. First of all, getting my work done fast can result in having a lot of extra free time to do things like hanging out with friends and doing extra curriculum activities like sports. Second of all, if I get all my work done quickly i ll have everything turned in resulting with a good grade, maybe even a 4.0 grade point average. My other skill of learning new ... • 43. The Reproductive Rights Of Women The reproductive rights of women have always been a hotly debated topic between those who support a women s right to an abortion and those who vehemently oppose it. The United States Supreme Court ruled in the landmark case Roe vs. Wade that it was legally a woman s right to have an abortion in 1973, and clearly outlines that states cannot pass laws that create an undue burden for women who choose to exercise their rights and terminate their pregnancy. Since then, there have been consistent challenges from many states along with pro life organizations all over the country to find ways to limit and to control the reproductive rights of women. In 1992, even though the ruling of Roe vs. Wade was confirmed in the case of Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, the Supreme Court also ruled that states can create regulations to limit abortions in order to protect the safety and health of the mother and the life of the unborn fetus. The outcome has resulted in several traditionally conservative states including Arkansas, Texas, North Dakota and Indiana passing laws that are cleverly disguised as rules to protect women, but ultimately makes it extremely difficult if not all together impossible for women to seek a legal abortion. On March 2nd, 2016, the state of Texas, a state that already has some of the toughest abortion laws in the United States of America, had one of its most controversial bills Senate Bill 2, also known as House Bill 2 or HB2, challenged by the case Whole Woman s Health ... The Deaf Community and Its Culture During registration last semester, when I decided to take this course to see if I wanted to continue onward with ASL as my minor, I was not sure what to expect. Through my brief introduction of Deaf culture during my first sign language courses, I knew some vague details about historical events. Gallaudet had been mentioned several times within not only my workbook, but also by my professor. I could have given you a short synopsis of the oral movement that threatened to wipe ASL out as a language. Though I knew these facts, and a few traits about Deaf culture that I had experienced firsthand, there was so much that I had not considered before the readings and journals for this course opened my eyes. As ASL is a visual language, it is necessary that both of the people move to a different room if they wish to discuss something in private. Without the readings for this class, most of these social rules would have been lost on me. One of the biggest changes I have noted in myself in the course of the semester is how my view of deafness has changed through meeting Deaf people and experiencing Deaf culture. Prior to this course, or any of my sign language courses, it is safe to say that I would have considered deafness a disability. It is not to say that I considered Deaf people any less intelligent or able bodied than those with normal hearing, I certainly did not. If the topic of deafness ever came up, I mourned for the sense that I considered Deaf people to be deprived of. Having met several Deaf people now, I understand that even though they cannot hear like the average person, they gained the support and the culture that comes with involvement in the Deaf community. I am a communication disorders major at Western Kentucky University, and my hope is to eventually become a speech language pathologist. Beer Novembert Law Lab Report Using the Beer Lambert Law, it can be interpreted that variation of the concentration in relation to the constant and the path length of the cuvette will be the sole factor in changing the absorption rate of a solution, since the length of the cuvette remains 1 cm throughout the duration of the experiment. A calibration curve that compares the values for the absorbances and the concentrations of the yellow and blue dye can be found in figures 1 and 2 respectively. Figure 1. Shows the calibration curve for the absorption relative to the concentration (M) of the yellow dye Figure 2. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As with the yellow dye, it was observed that there was no connection to be made between the absorption and the wavelength. Nevertheless, it was identified that the statistics we received regarding our wavelength did not emulate that which was found with many of the other groups during the experiment. Our wavelength remained consistent throughout the dilution of the substance, while others found that the wavelength decreased as did the concentration of their solution. This brings up the question of whether diluting a substance will affect the wavelength at which it will reach its peak absorption. It has already been concluded that concentration and absorption are inversely proportional, but the relationship the wavelength is intended to have is not addresses. As one dilutes a solution, the overall volume of water present increases. But, as water is clear, it does not have a position on the color wheel, and a direct estimation of the wavelength at which it reaches its peak wavelength cannot be determined based on current data. However, as we were the only ones that obtained a consistent wavelength regardless of the concentration, it can inferred that there was likely some type of error. Initial thoughts lead to it the most likely source being systematic error with the UV VIS spectrometer, as the only possible source of personal error that could have lead to these results would be ...
