The Movie Orange Is The New Black `` And What I Call A...
In its origin, the term antihero referred to the male star of a drama who remained likable despite
moral ambiguity (Rabinowitz). For an extended period of time, female antiheros simply did not
exist. There was no word for female characters who one was forced to like, regardless of their
wolfly characteristics. We simply love them because they are the star of the show. Piper Chapman
is exactly this: a character who one only likes because they are the central character in the story,
when in reality, they have very questionable morals and are most likely wolves. Alex Rabinowitz,
leading figure in entertainment news on social media, defines Piper as the most groundbreaking
character on television because of her journey to be what he calls an antiheroand what I call a wolf.
The two terms seem virtually interchangeable, with the only difference being the audience s
feelings towards the character. Chapman is the main character of one of Netflix s greatest hit
series, Orange Is The New Black . This series, created and produced by Jenji Kohan, follows the
lives of an entire prison full of women who are serving their time in Litchfield Penitentiary, a
minimum security women s prison located in upstate New York. All of these women have their
own stories and problems that the viewer follows throughout the four current seasons. While
watching the episodes, the viewer truly grows to love many of the characters, each in their own
unique way. The one character that most people are

Wal-Mart’s Response to Hurricane Katrina
Wal Mart s Response to Hurricane Katrina
So far in the American history, hurricane Katrina remains to be one of the most devastating
hurricanes to have ever been witnessed. Though preparation were already in place to counter its
effects, the storm s impact turned out to be one of the most unprecedented ever seen. This is even
notable from the way government agencies reacted to this disaster. It brought out the inefficiencies
and inadequacies of the emergency units both at the federal and state level. This is because these
governments response standards to this disaster were far much below the threshold expected.
Government efforts could not match, and hence counter, the impacts of hurricane Katrina. This led
to loss of massive property ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is possible because Wal Mart is expansive and has a global influence. This helps it to have lots
of information concerning anything of importance to them and their clients. Therefore using its
emergency department, Wal Mart was able to monitor the storm as it approached the shores of the
Gulf coast using their highly computerized meteorological equipment. In addition to the storm
monitoring capabilities, this department is well equipped with emergency response facilities for
normal disasters.
Wal Mart began response to this hurricane when the meteorological equipment indicated that the
initial signs of a storm were building up to a hurricane. This was when top level management began
having special interest on the findings of the emergency operations centre whereby the then
company s business continuity director shifted his operations to the centre. This was a clear sign of
how well Wal Mart chain stores were getting prepared for this hurricane.
Wal Mart CEO, H. Lee Scott, Jr., was in the forefront into getting ready to counter the impact of
Katrina. This is proven by the aspect of him giving direct authority to junior managers to make
sound decisions on the way forward into dealing with the hurricane. This simplified decision
making chain process and thus it saw the response become much quicker. Apart from giving
deciding powers to his juniors, the CEO guided the response process on a daily basis plan. This
accentuated the seriousness on preparation and

How I Learned During My Own Time
I Personally, I ve always been someone who had be interested in things such as politics, the
government, economics and so on so I really didn t know if their was much more to learn, but I
was sure as hell wrong throughout this whole course I was able to learn things that I never
would ve learned during my own time, which I usually dedicate a lot of time to my own private
readings. So, the thing that I feel I was most interesting to learn about was that most mutual
funds don t even go ahead and beat the market, even with them charging high fees to have to go
ahead and pay these so called experts to pick stocks for them. I had always been under the
impression that most mutual funds had always made money, and usually had even be able to
beat the markets out and had even thought of investing in one at a point in time during my life.
When I had learned the fact that 80 90 percent of mutual funds don t even beat the overall
market, it s really a disgusting thing to learn that these people then go around and charge
commissions as high as 2 percent on most normal funds. What s even nicer to hear (sarcasm) is
that when people sign up to these funds, the company will try to hide all the fees associated with
joining such as a load fee which is charging a huge fee up front to join in with the fund, so a
person won t want to leave the fund because they ve already lost a lot of money up front. There
are a lot of other things such as hiding fees in very small print and so on so people

Rhetorical Devices In Jfk Inaugural Address
On January 20, 1961, the newly elected president at the time, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, delivered
his iconic inaugural address not only to American citizens, but to people listening around the
world. In a time when the globe was in a heap of conflict and drama, America and the world were
in need of leadership, inspiration, and clear direction. In order to motivate his people towards a
better future under his presidency, Kennedy gave a powerful speech formally introducing himself
to the world, outlining his plans for the next four years, and especially encouraging the American
people to work and be optimistic for the coming years. He employed lots of rhetorical appeals

He combined both ethos and logos appeals to encourage his audience overseas to cooperate for
the right cause. Kennedy made his first promise, saying that To those allies whose cultural and
spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends (1). With alliances being an
ever important part of international diplomacy, Kennedy increased his credibility towards other
nations by acknowledging them and giving them his promise. He noted that because of their
continued friendship with the United States, he would continue to offer support and loyalty to
America s greatest allies, using a logical reason to justify his support of his allies. His pledge of
continued loyalty and general respect to previous global relationships established his authority and
international presence. He did not forget any countries when addressing his international
audience, as he later gained the trust of developing countries with promises to assist with their
growth. Kennedy said that To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to
break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves ...

Life Cycle Analysis For Brick
1Materials are very important in construction industry because with the combination of different
material, we can create a very strong and unique building form. There are many type of material that
commonly used in the construction industry, for example the glass, woods, bricks, stones, marble,
concretes and etc. Brick is one of the most commonly used materials in Malaysia, because almost
every house in housing area was built by bricks. From this essay I want to give analysis about the

decreased to uniformity. The clay is not fully dried when placed in the kiln. Hygroscopic water
is not driven off at ordinary temperatures or even at the boiling point of water. In fact, the
temperature often rises quite a bit above the boiling point before the water is completely evolved.
The watersmoking is accomplished by fire in the kiln furnaces. Wood is frequently used for this
purpose, to avoid sooting. In the watersmoking period it is desired to heat up the brick, evaporate
and remove the moisture, and to accomplish this successfully, it is very necessary that draft be
strong. The watersmoking is the most critical point in the life of the brick. The process must be
carried very slowly the water in coming out of the clay may crack the surface. After the
watersmoking is completed, the temperature is increase to that required in oxidation. Oxidation
begins in the later stages of vitrification, but the greater part occurs between the temperatures of
800oF and 1300oF. At this stage most of the impurities are given off and the metals constituting the
clay are changed to their respective oxides. The highest temperature reached at this point is usually

Fraud and Unjustified Conjectures in Dora An Analysis of a...
Many aspects of our lives, including culture and religion, are fabricated on the basis of conjectures.
Although these facts may remain unproven, little harm is inflicted from the possibility of
misinformation. Contrarily, in the case of science, the smallest error can lead to severely
misguided results and an inability to reach a solution. Dora An Analysis of a Case of Hysteriaby
Sigmund Freudexemplifies this situation, as Freud reveals an incomplete analysis relying on a slew
of unjustified conjectures. During Dora s time of treatment, Freud consistently ignores her denials
and impresses his frequently outlandish theories on her, which ultimately leads to her early
termination of treatment. Freud fails to cure Dora due to his flawed... Show more content on

He continues by comparing himself to an archaeologist for restoring what is missing, taking the
best models known to [him] from other analyses (7). With this eloquent metaphor, he s simply
trying to validate his use of conjectures and although he claims to inform the reader upon his use
of assumptions, the fact remains that his analysis is partially formed on the basis of fabrication. It
appears as though Freud is merely trying to convince the reader to trust his diagnosis regardless of
its legitimacy as is repeated later with Dora.
During one of the first treatments, Dora recounts an unfavorable situation in which Herr K.
arranges a meet between Dora, Frau K. and himself. Against Dora s knowledge Herr K.
convinces Frau K. to stay at home to be alone with Dora. Upon her arrival, Herr K. pulls down the
outside shutters [...] and, instead of going out the open door, suddenly [clasps] the girl to him and
[presses] a kiss upon her lips (21). Freud immediately begins to analyze the situation in stating the
strangeness of Dora s reaction. Instead of eliciting sexual excitement, the encounter evokes a
violent feeling of disgust (21) and the need to flee. Freud states that any person in whom an
occasion for sexual excitement elicited feelings that were preponderantly or exclusively
unpleasurable (22) is undoubtedly hysterical. With this claim, he gives no concrete evidence to
support this theory except his limited knowledge on

The Pros And Cons Of Portland Pozzolana Cement
4.What is PPC Cement?
What is Pozzolana?
Pozzolana is a compounds possessing cement properties formed by silica materials with very little
cement properties, reacted with calcium hydroxide at ambient temperature. Pozzolana materials are
natural fly ash, volcanic ash; produced by combustion of calcined clay and coal. Any of these
materials can be used in preparing Portland Pozzolana Cement.
How is Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) manufactured?
PPC is produced in two ways:
1.Grinding pozzolana materials and portland cement clinker together with addition of gypsum or
calicum sulphate.
2.Blending fine Pozzolana materials and Portland cement.

In short but very long buildings, there are many damaging effects during earthquake shaking. And,
in large plan area buildings like warehouses, the horizontal seismic forces can be much more to be
carried by columns and walls.
Horizontal Layout of Buildings
In short, the simple geometry buildings have performed better during the earthquakes. Buildings
with re entrant corners, such as those U, V, H and + shaped in plan, have been able to sustain
significant damage. Many times, the bad effects of earthquakes can be avoided by making the
buildings in two parts. Like, an L shaped plan can be divided into two rectangular plan shapes using
a partition point at the junction. At times, the plan of buildings is simple, but the columns/walls are
not equally distributed. Such buildings tend to twist during earthquake or shaking.
Vertical Layout of Buildings
The earthquake forces developed at a building differs for different floor levels. This force is
supposed to be brought down along the shortest height to the ground or it may path results in poor

Criterion-Related Validity Essay
In this post, I will examine the relationship between SATs scores and student success in college
through the lens of criterion validity. Since currently Higher Education institutions are focusing on
ranking, now, more than ever, admissions requirements are becoming more strict, and heavier
weight is being placed on SAT scores as a way determining quality students. Currently, SAT scores
are used to determine whether a student will be successful in college. This shift is causing a great
push to identify students of risk, and for more elite institutions, who should be admitted (Chronicle
of Higher Education, 2017). Do to this shift, there is great emphasis placed on the SATs as an
indicator of college success. The question that many student affairs professionals and educational
leaders ask are, does this test accurately measure and show a relationship between test scores and
outcomes?

In the context of Higher Education and its reliance on the SATs as a predictor to determine the fate

measure what we say they measure.
Some things to consider about using this test to measure student success...does it account for
aspects of social capital (Yosso s Model) and its influence on how a student may interrupt a
question? Does this standardized test have a way of understanding the multiple aspects of a student
s identity that influences the way they perceive and interpret questions? Does it account for the
financial aspect of paying for tutoring? The SATs do give institutions the ability to anticipate a
student s success, but it certainly does not measure the academic

The Financial Audit Of The World s Financial Audits
The majority of the world s financial audits are dominated by four major audit firms, which are
known as the Big 4 (PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst Young, KPMG, and Deloitte). Prior studies
suggest that these firms, on average, provide higher quality audit services and also exhibit a fee
premium in comparison with their non Big 4 auditfirms; however, it is questionable that whether all
these Big 4 audit firms are the same and that whether there are differences in audit quality within the
Big 4.
In term of total audit fee dollars, PwC maintains its leadership position among the Big 4
(Appendix A, table 1), followed by Deloitte, Ernst Young and KPMG. In 2014, PwC generated
$15 billion from its audit service 44% more than those earned by KPMG. PwC also ranked as
the most prestigious accounting firm (Appendix A, table 2) in 2015 according to the Vault s

The Eye Of The Sheep Character Analysis
The Eye of the Sheep, written by Sophie Laguna is a strong example of how memorable texts
can both disturb the reader as well as instil hope. The novel follows the story of the narrator
Jimmy Flick, a young, unusual boy and his family. Laguna s writing style and use of language
throughout the text enables the reader to feel the pain and distress in Jimmy s family without ever
losing hope that things will work out. One of the ways in which she does this is through the use of
Jimmy s voice, as it allows the reader to feel the positive energy bubbling inside of Jimmy, while
still witnessing the problems that Jimmy s family have to deal with, such as his father s drinking
habits. Another way is the manner in which the characters are constructed. All the members of
Jimmy s family have multiple facets to them. They are all complex characters that have both light
and darkness within them. Through these cleverly constructed characters, Laguna how even good
people can do disturbing things. While reading the Eye of the Sheep, there have been multiple
different perspectives that have enriched my own interpretation of this text, that again show
different facets to the story. Throughout the novel, Jimmy s voice is a constant source of insight for
the reader. He has a light hearted yet astute way of looking at things. His unique and memorable
viewpoint on the situations he finds himself in can at times horrify the reader, yet at other times can
instil hope. Jimmy has a way of imprinting

How Does Fatty Acid Contribute To The Production Of Glucose
An individual engaged in vigorous exercise demands much more energy than a sedentary
individual. The supplied energy during a 100 meter sprint or a marathon run comes at a cost,
which is the production of ATP (Hill et al.). At the beginning of exercise the body relies on the
glycogen stores in muscle that aids in ATP production. Eventually, glucose
levels in muscles begin
to decrease as the activity continues, it s also thought that insufficient glucose causes tiredness
(Hill et al.) . Glucose must be provided continuously in order to satisfy one s energy demands.
Consequently, glucose is delivered by blood to the muscles. Fatty acids also contribute to the
process of generating energy when glucose levels are low, which are broken down to

for her sick grandson. This story is very relatable for me personally because I have always had to
dig deep and push though tough situations to achieve my goals. Mrs. Jackson s main goal was to
get medication for her grandson to make him healthy again. This story shows that is you care
about someone or something enough then you will do anything for them. Mrs. Jackson reminds

The Supreme Court Of Canada Decision Essay
Introduction You have asked me to summarize the Supreme Court of Canada decision in DorГ©
v Barreau du QuГ©bec, 2012 SCC 12, SCR 395 and analyze whether the Law society is likely to
sanction Evan Frank. Although the Rules of Professional Conduct place limitations on certain
conduct to ensure professionalism, the expressive rights of lawyers must be given due respect
and the likelihood of Mr. Frank s sanction will depend on a fair balance of expressive value of the

Castration Anxiety And Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows Sally and her friends when they take a trip to see her
grandfather s old home, unfortunately when they wander outside the property they get attacked
by the family of cannibals living next door. The sole survivor is Sally. Teeth follows teen virgin
Dawn who after being raped realizes she has vagina dentata, she then harnesses it with the intent
of avenging herself against those who have wronged her. In order to compare these two films, I
will be analyzing how each interacts with the concept of castration anxiety. Castration anxiety as
outlined by Freud is when a boy looks at his mother and realizes she does not have a penis, he
views his mom as castrated and thus to him his mother is a warning of his castration. Carol
Clover in Her Body Himself and Dumas in Horror and Psychoanalysis have elaborated on this
concept in the genre of the horror explaining that castration anxiety is not only fear of penile harm
but of one s power being taken away.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is somewhat problematic because while the idea of a femme fatale is progressive Dawn
border s on being regressive specifically in the final sequence of the film. At the end of Teeth Dawn
has hitched a ride only to find the driver wants a sexual favor in return. Dawn then looks at the
camera smiles and turns around ready to seduce the man. The song You Did by Chuck Prophet
starts playing giving the scene an upbeat almost sensual tone. This gives Dawn agency as she is no
longer a victim and thus no longer a fully sympathetic character, instead, she is on the verge of
becoming the castrating monster men

Definition Essay On Integrity
The word integrity seems to float around me, its very existence locked in my mind. The word
integrity will never be forgotten, never be lost, but the meaning behind the word integrity has
yet to be discovered. Oprah Winfrey once said Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing
that nobody s going to know whether you did it or not. Integrity is something I believe in and
value greatly. To me integrity is doing the right thing even when no one else is watching. Most
people always look for an easy choice, but it s not about the easy choice it s about the right
choice. Ever since I was little girl I have always believed that you only get what you work for,
and fairness and equality play a big role in integrity. I d always believed in doing the right thing
even if it doesn t benefit me in the end. Sometimes it s hard to show integrity. In fact ,95% of
24,000 high school students have admitted in some form of cheating. I d always hoped that
maybe one day these numbers would decrease. On a warm, sunny Texas afternoon I walked
through the Southlake strip mall. In the air a pungent odor danced around me. My hand went
immediately to my nose, to block out the smell. The sun s heat came glaring down at me as I
shielded my hands in front of my face to keep the ray of light from hurting my sensitive eyes. The
clouds seemed to dance across the vibrant blue sky. The pounding of my feet echoed across the...

The Controversy Of Immigration Reform
Furthermore, your immigration reform plan has far too many flaws and it is absurd. It is
incredibly cruel to want to end birth right citizenships, require that Americans get jobs over
immigrants, and enhance penalties for overstaying a visa. This country has always been a land of
immigration, and suddenly deciding to deny foreigners rights is immoral and uncalled for. We
have economic and religious freedoms, the freedom of speech, and the right of suffrage. With your
reform plan, freedom will cease to exist. This is exactly the opposite of what our founding fathers
would have wanted. Racismcontinues to be a rampant problem in America, and your proposals will
only further the issues we have. Latinos, contrary to your beliefs, are hard... Show more content on

This name has been associated with our country since its beginnings, and you have disrespected
it. My grandfather came from a small town in Southern Italy. When he arrived in America, he
spoke very broken English, his first job was working as a valet attendant, and he eventually
worked his way up to an insurance salesman. When he first began, all of the people in his office
treated him disrespectfully and made fun of the way he spoke. Despite the setbacks, he became one
of the best insurance salesmen in the United States and retired at age 45. We are the land of
opportunity, the land of the free, and the home of the brave. Your policies are the opposite of what
America stands for. For instance, Luis E. Miramontes, a man with an ethnicity that is affected by
your harshness, became a prominent and innovative Mexican American. He was a chemist that
was the co inventor of the progestin norethindrone used in one of the first three contraceptives. In
1964, the U.S. Department of Patents chose his contraceptive pill as one of the forty registered
most important inventions between 1794 and 1964, and the pill was included in the USA Inventor

can see, immigration is great for our country because it helps bring innovative ideas, business

The General Motor s President
The General Motor s president, Alfred Sloan found out two critical issues that impeded his
company to be succeeded in mass production and completed the mass production system based
on Ford s deficiency. Subsequently, Sloan resolved his firm s problems step by step. Firstly, he
established the decentralized divisions operated by some senior managers, who would share the
profits with Sloan. Later, he created a product range from cheap to expensive that could satisfy
most of buyers. From Sloan s case, seniority seemed like a key to determine the workers, and it
was also a basis for job assignments. Mass production became very popular in 1955 because
many U.S. companies used Ford s plant practices and Sloan s management means to improve
their productivity. At that time, the U.S. automobile industry led the world s car manufacture
with more than seven billion car were sold. The spread of mass production was not only in the
United States, but also in Europe because many craft production companies applied mass
production for their products. However, the problems occurred, particularly, in the workforce.
Workers figured out that the mass production work was unprofitable, and this caused the stagnant
of mass products in the United States as well as Europe. This was the time for a new kind of
production: lean production . The Rise of Lean Production. In 1950, Eiji Toyoda, a Japanese
engineer from Toyota Motor Company, had a trip to one of the Ford s plant in Detroit because he

Propaganda Techniques Today s Advertising By Anne Mcclintock
In the essay, Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising by Anne McClintock, McClintock
shows seven different ways that propaganda is used. One mostly used by advertisement today
would be Glittering Generalities, using positive words to bring attraction to their product while
concealing the actual meanings. They will use inspiring words that are very vague that the
consumer would not really understand what the product would really do to benefit them but
would be inspired to buy it anyways. Another technique mostly used would be Testimonial, were
producers would pay celebrities to advertise their product for them since they have more fame
than normal actors. Advertisement used today is targeted to make the consumer believe that
what they are paying for is the real deal when it is only beneficial for the producers.
Advertisements are used to promote a product by the positive effects enthusiastically but when
describing the side effects they are done fast and in small letters. When one watches a
commercial in the television, or hears it on the radio, one mostly hears the what the producers
wants them to hear. They will explain their product, giving the pros of what it was made to do
and how its a better option than other products in the market. When they are done with their sale
at the very end most of commercials give you in small font the rest of the financial information,
additional fees, or even side effects with a very fast voice most of the time reading it to you.

Christianity and Church
A sacrament can be defined as a visible sign of an invisible grace or an outward sign of an inward
grace . Through the visible there is invisible. For example: The Eucharist Bread and Wine are
visible and the Life of Christ is invisible. It is a sign of God s grace, a visible sign, something we
are able to see. Therefore the church stands as a visible sign; the invisible grace is God s
presence. Hence sacraments make God s presence more real and understandable for us as
believers. The church is needed to build up unity among all of us, to bring us together as a
community to share in God s life just as God wants.
The church is a sign and instrument of unity with God. God s love for us reconciles us to God and
to each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sacrificed his life for us so that we could live happy lives and he will be there to lead us on our
lives and help us live a good life just as he did. We are called to be holy and be an intimate friend of
Christ .
The church communicates the salvation of Jesus Christ.
The church is not only a sacrament of Christ, but a sacrament of man and of the world. The
church as a sacrament reveals union of men with God or each other. The Church points back to
Christ and what he has done for us and to the future to the Kingdom, what he will do for us.
Salvation comes from the Messiah. We are all part of a local church in which are a community.
Together as we join in unity we all form the universal Church. By worshiping God in the Church
we find salvation. By worshiping the church, the church worships on our behalf. The church
makes sacrifices for us. So the church s sacrifice in communion with Christ is vicarious by nature
as the sacrament of Christ s sacrifice and so also on behalf of the world of mankind . We are all
called to unity not just the church. We cannot reach salvation until we embrace God s love. It is a
sign of communion to all humanity. At the end of time we will have the Kingdom of God. The
church has the task to get all humanity to the end. The church is the link between humanity and
Good.
The church makes God visible. The church is a communion that is needed to create unity among all
men.

Nintendo And Its Impact On Innovation
As earlier stated, Nintendo excels in innovation. The company distinguishes itself from competitors
by heavily investing in research and development (R D) and by taking risks on new technologies.
For example, in 2001 Nintendo released its GameCube. Instead of using the CD platform used by
Sony, Sega, and Microsoft in their sixth generation consoles, Nintendoutilized a proprietary optical
disk technology that was visually similar to CDs but did not not work in standard CD players (
Nintendo Wii, n.d.). Genyo Takeda, Nintendo s general manager of Integrated Research and

In 2010, Sony introduced their PlayStation Move which was a more accurate version of the Wii
Remote ( Nintendo Wii, n.d.). That same year, Microsoft released their Xbox Kinect. Unlike
Nintendo and Sony, Microsoft did not use a remote or wand as their interface; instead, they
developed a webcam style add on to track gamers motions and gestures ( Nintendo Wii, n.d.). This
was a major problem for Nintendo because they no longer had the advantage of being the sole
provider of motion sensing technology. Furthermore, Nintendo visual quality was inferior to its
competitors, especially Sony ( Nintendo Wii, n.d.). Consumers could no longer see any difference
between the three video game oligopolies and Nintendo lost a significant amount of market
presence ( Nintendo Wii, n.d.). To address their competitors , Nintendo abandoned the low cost
differentiation strategy that made it a powerhouse in the gaming industry and embraced the
enhancement strategy used by Microsoft and Sony.
In late 2012, Nintendo launched the Wii U, an upgraded version of the Wii. The Wii U was
priced much higher than its predecessor, with an initial retail price of $299 for the basic Wii U
and $349 for the deluxe ( Nintendo Wii, n.d.). Nintendo s pricing strategy signaled its intention of
competing with Microsoft and Sony. The Wii U include a revamped GamePad that allowed users to
be more in touch with the game ( Nintendo Wii, n.d.). Nintendo hoped the enhanced

The Role Of Women In America
In July 1848, the Seneca Falls Convention, held by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott,
became the first meeting to be held on behalf of women s rights. It was at this convention that the
Declaration of Sentiments was drafted, and modeled after the Declaration of Independence by
asserting the equality of men and women throughout the document. This was to show that men
were not the only one who had the right to equality, but also woman. At the time, not everyone,
even women, believe in the the idea of women being equal to men because in this century it was
believe women were fragile creatures who only live within the domestic and social sphere. Within
the past few decades the role of women in America changed dramatically; they have right to vote, to
education, to work, etc. Yet substantial inequalities remain between women and men.

Lenny s Controversy About Selling Cheap Baskets Online
Lenny s opportunity experienced a needed evolution. It is difficult for investors and participants
in the company to get excited about selling cheap caskets online. First of all, the topic of funerals
is a topic that few people want to talk about as it reminds people of their own morality. Second of
all, as Randy says, the original model for Funerals.com was a Better Faster Cheaper start up with
no real sustainable competitive advantage. This additionally makes it unattractive to investors.
From a personal standpoint, as a member of a family who has had to plan their fair share of
funerals, online casket shopping would not have even been a consideration. In my family, the
look and feel of a casket played a significant role in our ultimate casket decision. If a person had to

Lenny is not just spewing information that he believes both investors and Randy want to hear,

passion that will help him through the rough stages of a start up. The final opportunity offers the

can be changed in a short time by a few unethical choices and to rebuild that perspective can take

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tariffs
CHALLENGES
BARRIERS RELATING TO CUSTOMS
Many companies, particularly those in the retail sector, have suggested that tariffs present the
greatest barrier to cross border e commerce. This problem does not exist within the EU, which is a
free trade area; however, when exporting to countries outside of the EU tariffs are, indeed, a major
problem. One business suggested that outside of the EU, tariffs are always the most problematic .
Tariffs raise the price of the products sold by e traders and consequently reduce their
competitiveness. Tariffs are, however, not more of a problem for e commerce than they are for
traditional trade. Therefore, in this study we have chosen not to delve deeper into the levels of the
tariffs, but instead to focus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One clear example of this is the requirement to use paper invoices and handwritten contracts. This
increases the administrative burden for companies and makes the use of various online based
services impossible. One business gave an example of a service using an internet based platform

possible to use this service in countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine, where the use of
paper invoices and handwritten contracts is a requirement.
Double taxation
E commerce creates revenues overseas, and there is, therefore, a risk of double taxation.
Fortunately, bilateral agreements often exist to deal with this. Despite such agreements being in

Days go by and moments vanish in a flash which means these moments and days matter. People
comprehend life is fleeting and only get to live what they are given, therefore living life to the

the hit song, Everybody Wants to Rule the World , living the numbered days one is given is a

There s no way to turn back time and relive each moment. People should focus more on
themselves and their passions rather than the way others portray them which is shown in Dead
Poets Society when the boys learn this lesson. In all honesty, it s okay to mess up because then
lessons are learned and applied so the person can grow. Growth is a part of life and there are
lessons to be learned at each stage. By the time of old age, wisdom is prevalent because of the
trails life teaches. Mr. Keating became wise with old age and passed on his wisdom of life to his
students. Don t ignore the stages and wish them by because it helps in the future. Lessons can be
found in the simple things so instead of being so focused on phones and money, individuals
should seek to find the things that make them tick. These frivolous endeavors in life prohibit one
from ruling the world as Tears for Fears once said. If a person spends their whole life pleasing
others, they would have wasted time learning about themselves. How would a person know they

experienced that for themselves and went away from what they were being told, they would never
find their passion. They would become a robot in a system of robots trying to please others.

The Four Planets Of Jupiter
The four planets that are furthest from our sun are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. They are
called the outer planets. They are separated from the four inner planets by something referred to as
the asteroid belt, which is filled with big chunks of rock that are called asteroids. The asteroid belt
lies between Mars and Jupiter. All the outer planets are gas giants. They also take longer to orbit the
sun than the four inner planets, because they are much further away from the sun. Let s explore
each of the four outer planets.
The four outer planets are much larger than the inner planets, and their surfaces are mostly made of
gases, such as hydrogen. Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun, or the first outer planet. It s also the
largest planet in the entire solar system. It s 300 times larger than Earth! It takes 12 Earth years for
Jupiter to completely orbit the sun one time. A very thick layer of hydrogen clouds covers the
surface of Jupiter. The mass of Jupiter is more than all the masses of the other planets combined,
which means that it has a lot more gravity than the other planets, and even more than the sun.
There is an area on Jupiter called the Great Red Spot, and it s where lots of violent storms occur.
Just this one area of storms is three times larger than Earth! Jupiter has at least 63 moons, and new
ones are still being discovered. Each moon is unique. Ganymede is the largest moon in our solar
system, and it s even bigger than Mercury. Europa is

Causes Of The Middle Ages
Limitless trouble loomed in Europe during the eighth and ninth century, and the so called Middle
Ages was a time of failure. The Middle Ages lasted from around 476 A.D. to 1100 A.D. In this
time period, there was the fall of the Roman Empire followed by the rise of the Renaissance. The
crash of the Roman empire was caused by invasions from Germanic tribes which gave Europe
trouble and made the Roman Empire collapse. Europe searched for a time of rebirth after the
Roman Empire fell. The Renaissancewas a time of rebirth and ultimately success for Europe and
its people. Also, the lack of a government caused Europe to go into a time of trouble and
confusion. This gloomy time period instilled ignorance in the people of Europe and called for
progress and change to be made. The Renaissance was exactly what Europe needed to stop the
turmoil. The Middle Agesshould be called the Dark Ages due to the lack of trust within the people
and the adversity faced throughout Europe.
Document 1 and Document 6 both provide supporting evidence that lead to why the Middle Ages
should be referred to as the Dark Ages. Document 6 states, Europe suffered a decline in commerce
and manufacturing, in education, in literature and the arts, and in almost all that makes possible a
high civilization. Cities grew smaller and in some cases practically disappeared, and western
Europe became a region of poverty stricken farming communities, each virtually isolated from the
rest of the world.

Film Analysis Of The Silent Film Change
Sometimes we fail to realize the impact we have on the lives of strangers. Something as small as
spare change has the power to impact the way a strangers entire day turns out. The silent film,
Change , starts with an overhead extreme close up of an unseen stranger s hand shaking spare
change, walking down a city block. The shot follows them walkingdown the street, following their
point of view until they come to a complete stop at an can on the ground with a few coins and
crumpled dollar bills in it and looks around it to see original works of art on display. The unseen
stranger looks up to see a young black woman dressed in slightly tattered and old clothing. She
sits behind the art display, silently working on another work of art as people glance at her and
keep walking. The unseen stranger stops jingling the change in his hand for a beat before putting
the rest of his change in the can in front of the artist. The artist hears the jingling of the change in
her can and looks up from her art with a soft smile and light eyes. The two strangers share a
comfortable silence, gratitude in the artist s eyes before the camera turns to reveal the stranger s
face and goes close on the warmth of his eyes. The stranger smiles and walks away. The camera
stays with the artist.

were drawn, 12 lead EKG was done, MONA was initiated and the patient was made as
comfortable as possible. A brief history was taken. The patient was a 72 years old Japanese

There are a couple of things that are interesting are, that the roofing for the houses where the staff

Trump, presidential announcement speech, June 16, 2015
During the 2016 presidential election, unauthorized immigration was at the center of the discussion
leading to the rise of a populist candidate, Donald J. Trump, who was eventually elected to the
White House by capitalizing on the fears and dissatisfaction of many Americans. It was the
criminalization of the problem with unauthorized immigration which hit a nerve with many
Americans because of the frustration with the problem, among other political issues. Many native
born Americans do not have complete knowledge and understanding of immigration laws and
policies and the bureaucracy within immigration agencies.
For that reason, an in depth analysis of Immigration Laws and Policies will be conducted in order to
investigate the root cause of the problem with the immigration system in the United States. Past and
current immigration laws in the U.S. have led to more than 11 million unauthorized immigrants in
the United States, the majority of which are from Latin American countries, with almost half of the
11 million unauthorized migrants coming from Mexico. This investigation will examine the current
state of the immigration system in the U.S.; The lack of enforcement mechanisms, backlogs, and
the number of available visas among other

The Chartist Movement During The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution has made impactful changes to the world. It is one of the main things
that shape the modern world. But like all revolutions, it has some drawbacks. Several attempts have
been made. One of them, the Chartist Movement is probably the most influent. It shows the world
what the working class can do. Although fail, the Chartist Movement is undeniably one of the most
important events throughout the Industrial Revolution. The causes of the Chartist Movement vary
from both economic and political reasons. Economically, taxes are high, low wages, high cost with
several fiscal crises and bankrupts. While politically, the working class doesn t satisfy with the
1832 Reform Act and several later Acts, which they heavily support... Show more content on

Moreover, several conferences and meetings were regularly held. All of this had made the working
class the most important supporter to the movement.
During the Chartist Movement, it is no doubt that the working class is the movement s most
important supporter. The largest Chartist petition claimed to have nearly 6 million signatures. They
hope the movement, if successful, can improve their life. But aside from the working class, almost
everyone else opposes the movement. They fear the change would be bad for their rule, their
wealth and therefore oppose it.
In short term, the movement failed. The Charter was not only reject once, but three times. No
changes were made to improve the life of working class. It is straight up a failure. But in a long
term, the movement succeeded. Five out of six points had become laws. The movement also
improved the morale of working class. It also marked the rise of class consciousness and enabled
the working class to learn from its

  • 2. The Movie Orange Is The New Black `` And What I Call A... In its origin, the term antihero referred to the male star of a drama who remained likable despite moral ambiguity (Rabinowitz). For an extended period of time, female antiheros simply did not exist. There was no word for female characters who one was forced to like, regardless of their wolfly characteristics. We simply love them because they are the star of the show. Piper Chapman is exactly this: a character who one only likes because they are the central character in the story, when in reality, they have very questionable morals and are most likely wolves. Alex Rabinowitz, leading figure in entertainment news on social media, defines Piper as the most groundbreaking character on television because of her journey to be what he calls an antiheroand what I call a wolf. The two terms seem virtually interchangeable, with the only difference being the audience s feelings towards the character. Chapman is the main character of one of Netflix s greatest hit series, Orange Is The New Black . This series, created and produced by Jenji Kohan, follows the lives of an entire prison full of women who are serving their time in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum security women s prison located in upstate New York. All of these women have their own stories and problems that the viewer follows throughout the four current seasons. While watching the episodes, the viewer truly grows to love many of the characters, each in their own unique way. The one character that most people are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Wal-Mart’s Response to Hurricane Katrina Wal Mart s Response to Hurricane Katrina So far in the American history, hurricane Katrina remains to be one of the most devastating hurricanes to have ever been witnessed. Though preparation were already in place to counter its effects, the storm s impact turned out to be one of the most unprecedented ever seen. This is even notable from the way government agencies reacted to this disaster. It brought out the inefficiencies and inadequacies of the emergency units both at the federal and state level. This is because these governments response standards to this disaster were far much below the threshold expected. Government efforts could not match, and hence counter, the impacts of hurricane Katrina. This led to loss of massive property ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is possible because Wal Mart is expansive and has a global influence. This helps it to have lots of information concerning anything of importance to them and their clients. Therefore using its emergency department, Wal Mart was able to monitor the storm as it approached the shores of the Gulf coast using their highly computerized meteorological equipment. In addition to the storm monitoring capabilities, this department is well equipped with emergency response facilities for normal disasters. Wal Mart began response to this hurricane when the meteorological equipment indicated that the initial signs of a storm were building up to a hurricane. This was when top level management began having special interest on the findings of the emergency operations centre whereby the then company s business continuity director shifted his operations to the centre. This was a clear sign of how well Wal Mart chain stores were getting prepared for this hurricane. Wal Mart CEO, H. Lee Scott, Jr., was in the forefront into getting ready to counter the impact of Katrina. This is proven by the aspect of him giving direct authority to junior managers to make sound decisions on the way forward into dealing with the hurricane. This simplified decision making chain process and thus it saw the response become much quicker. Apart from giving deciding powers to his juniors, the CEO guided the response process on a daily basis plan. This accentuated the seriousness on preparation and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How I Learned During My Own Time I Personally, I ve always been someone who had be interested in things such as politics, the government, economics and so on so I really didn t know if their was much more to learn, but I was sure as hell wrong throughout this whole course I was able to learn things that I never would ve learned during my own time, which I usually dedicate a lot of time to my own private readings. So, the thing that I feel I was most interesting to learn about was that most mutual funds don t even go ahead and beat the market, even with them charging high fees to have to go ahead and pay these so called experts to pick stocks for them. I had always been under the impression that most mutual funds had always made money, and usually had even be able to beat the markets out and had even thought of investing in one at a point in time during my life. When I had learned the fact that 80 90 percent of mutual funds don t even beat the overall market, it s really a disgusting thing to learn that these people then go around and charge commissions as high as 2 percent on most normal funds. What s even nicer to hear (sarcasm) is that when people sign up to these funds, the company will try to hide all the fees associated with joining such as a load fee which is charging a huge fee up front to join in with the fund, so a person won t want to leave the fund because they ve already lost a lot of money up front. There are a lot of other things such as hiding fees in very small print and so on so people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a time when the globe was in a heap of conflict and drama, America and the world were in need of leadership, inspiration, and clear direction. In order to motivate his people towards a better future under his presidency, Kennedy gave a powerful speech formally introducing himself to the world, outlining his plans for the next four years, and especially encouraging the American people to work and be optimistic for the coming years. He combined both ethos and logos appeals to encourage his audience overseas to cooperate for the right cause. Kennedy made his first promise, saying that To those allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends (1). With alliances being an ever important part of international diplomacy, Kennedy increased his credibility towards other nations by acknowledging them and giving them his promise. He noted that because of their continued friendship with the United States, he would continue to offer support and loyalty to America s greatest allies, using a logical reason to justify his support of his allies. His pledge of continued loyalty and general respect to previous global relationships established his authority and international presence. He did not forget any countries when addressing his international audience, as he later gained the trust of developing countries with promises to assist with their growth. Kennedy said that To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves ... because it is right. Hygroscopic water is not driven off at ordinary temperatures or even at the boiling point of water. In fact, the temperature often rises quite a bit above the boiling point before the water is completely evolved. The watersmoking is accomplished by fire in the kiln furnaces. Wood is frequently used for this purpose, to avoid sooting. In the watersmoking period it is desired to heat up the brick, evaporate and remove the moisture, and to accomplish this successfully, it is very necessary that draft be strong. The watersmoking is the most critical point in the life of the brick. The process must be carried very slowly the water in coming out of the clay may crack the surface. Although these facts may remain unproven, little harm is inflicted from the possibility of misinformation. Contrarily, in the case of science, the smallest error can lead to severely misguided results and an inability to reach a solution. Dora An Analysis of a Case of Hysteriaby Sigmund Freudexemplifies this situation, as Freud reveals an incomplete analysis relying on a slew of unjustified conjectures. He continues by comparing himself to an archaeologist for restoring what is missing, taking the best models known to [him] from other analyses (7). With this eloquent metaphor, he s simply trying to validate his use of conjectures and although he claims to inform the reader upon his use of assumptions, the fact remains that his analysis is partially formed on the basis of fabrication. It appears as though Freud is merely trying to convince the reader to trust his diagnosis regardless of its legitimacy as is repeated later with Dora. During one of the first treatments, Dora recounts an unfavorable situation in which Herr K. arranges a meet between Dora, Frau K. and himself. Against Dora s knowledge Herr K. convinces Frau K. to stay at home to be alone with Dora. Upon her arrival, Herr K. pulls down the outside shutters [...] and, instead of going out the open door, suddenly [clasps] the girl to him and [presses] a kiss upon her lips (21). • 15. The Eye Of The Sheep Character Analysis The Eye of the Sheep, written by Sophie Laguna is a strong example of how memorable texts can both disturb the reader as well as instil hope. The novel follows the story of the narrator Jimmy Flick, a young, unusual boy and his family. Laguna s writing style and use of language throughout the text enables the reader to feel the pain and distress in Jimmy s family without ever losing hope that things will work out. One of the ways in which she does this is through the use of Jimmy s voice, as it allows the reader to feel the positive energy bubbling inside of Jimmy, while still witnessing the problems that Jimmy s family have to deal with, such as his father s drinking habits. Another way is the manner in which the characters are constructed. All the members of Jimmy s family have multiple facets to them. They are all complex characters that have both light and darkness within them. Through these cleverly constructed characters, Laguna how even good people can do disturbing things. The General Motor s President The General Motor s president, Alfred Sloan found out two critical issues that impeded his company to be succeeded in mass production and completed the mass production system based on Ford s deficiency. Subsequently, Sloan resolved his firm s problems step by step. Firstly, he established the decentralized divisions operated by some senior managers, who would share the profits with Sloan. Later, he created a product range from cheap to expensive that could satisfy most of buyers. From Sloan s case, seniority seemed like a key to determine the workers, and it was also a basis for job assignments. Mass production became very popular in 1955 because many U.S. companies used Ford s plant practices and Sloan s management means to improve their productivity. Propaganda Techniques Today s Advertising By Anne Mcclintock In the essay, Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising by Anne McClintock, McClintock shows seven different ways that propaganda is used. One mostly used by advertisement today would be Glittering Generalities, using positive words to bring attraction to their product while concealing the actual meanings. They will use inspiring words that are very vague that the consumer would not really understand what the product would really do to benefit them but would be inspired to buy it anyways. Another technique mostly used would be Testimonial, were producers would pay celebrities to advertise their product for them since they have more fame than normal actors. Advertisement used today is targeted to make the consumer believe that what they are paying for is the real deal when it is only beneficial for the producers. Advertisements are used to promote a product by the positive effects enthusiastically but when describing the side effects they are done fast and in small letters. When one watches a commercial in the television, or hears it on the radio, one mostly hears the what the producers wants them to hear. They will explain their product, giving the pros of what it was made to do and how its a better option than other products in the market. When they are done with their sale at the very end most of commercials give you in small font the rest of the financial information, additional fees, or even side effects with a very fast voice most of the time reading it to you. ... • 28. Christianity and Church A sacrament can be defined as a visible sign of an invisible grace or an outward sign of an inward grace . Through the visible there is invisible. For example: The Eucharist Bread and Wine are visible and the Life of Christ is invisible. It is a sign of God s grace, a visible sign, something we are able to see. Therefore the church stands as a visible sign; the invisible grace is God s presence. Hence sacraments make God s presence more real and understandable for us as believers. The church is needed to build up unity among all of us, to bring us together as a community to share in God s life just as God wants. The church is a sign and instrument of unity with God. He sacrificed his life for us so that we could live happy lives and he will be there to lead us on our lives and help us live a good life just as he did. The church is not only a sacrament of Christ, but a sacrament of man and of the world. The church as a sacrament reveals union of men with God or each other. The Church points back to Christ and what he has done for us and to the future to the Kingdom, what he will do for us. Salvation comes from the Messiah. We are all part of a local church in which are a community. Together as we join in unity we all form the universal Church. By worshiping God in the Church we find salvation. By worshiping the church, the church worships on our behalf. The church makes sacrifices for us. So the church s sacrifice in communion with Christ is vicarious by nature as the sacrament of Christ s sacrifice and so also on behalf of the world of mankind . We are all called to unity not just the church. We cannot reach salvation until we embrace God s love. It is a sign of communion to all humanity. At the end of time we will have the Kingdom of God. This was to show that men were not the only one who had the right to equality, but also woman. At the time, not everyone, even women, believe in the the idea of women being equal to men because in this century it was believe women were fragile creatures who only live within the domestic and social sphere. It is difficult for investors and participants in the company to get excited about selling cheap caskets online. First of all, the topic of funerals is a topic that few people want to talk about as it reminds people of their own morality. Second of all, as Randy says, the original model for Funerals.com was a Better Faster Cheaper start up with no real sustainable competitive advantage. This additionally makes it unattractive to investors. From a personal standpoint, as a member of a family who has had to plan their fair share of funerals, online casket shopping would not have even been a consideration. They are separated from the four inner planets by something referred to as the asteroid belt, which is filled with big chunks of rock that are called asteroids. The asteroid belt lies between Mars and Jupiter. All the outer planets are gas giants. They also take longer to orbit the sun than the four inner planets, because they are much further away from the sun. Let s explore each of the four outer planets. The four outer planets are much larger than the inner planets, and their surfaces are mostly made of gases, such as hydrogen. Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun, or the first outer planet. It s also the largest planet in the entire solar system. It s 300 times larger than Earth! It takes 12 Earth years for Jupiter to completely orbit the sun one time. The Middle Ages lasted from around 476 A.D. to 1100 A.D. In this time period, there was the fall of the Roman Empire followed by the rise of the Renaissance. The crash of the Roman empire was caused by invasions from Germanic tribes which gave Europe trouble and made the Roman Empire collapse. Europe searched for a time of rebirth after the Roman Empire fell. The Renaissancewas a time of rebirth and ultimately success for Europe and its people. Also, the lack of a government caused Europe to go into a time of trouble and confusion. This gloomy time period instilled ignorance in the people of Europe and called for progress and change to be made. The Renaissance was exactly what Europe needed to stop the turmoil. The Middle Agesshould be called the Dark Ages due to the lack of trust within the people and the adversity faced throughout Europe. Document 1 and Document 6 both provide supporting evidence that lead to why the Middle Ages should be referred to as the Dark Ages. Document 6 states, Europe suffered a decline in commerce and manufacturing, in education, in literature and the arts, and in almost all that makes possible a high civilization.
