Francis Crick
Francis Crick was a Biophysic born in Northampton, England(1916). He helped create new
technologies during World War II.After the war, he began investigating the structure of DNA with
the Research Council of the University of Cambridge Medical at its Cavendish Laboratory with
James D. Watson. He received a Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1962 which he shared
for his work and he continued coordinating investigation until 2004 when he passed away.

Utilizing X shaft diffraction examinations of DNA. Watson and Crick developed an atomic model
tending to the known physical and substance properties of DNA. It included two interleaved
winding strands, taking after a twisted wandering stool. They speculated that if the two sides split
from each other, every side would change into the explanation behind an outline for the headway of
new strains misty to their past extras.
This theory resulted in examination incited a clarification in the strategy behind the replication of
a quality and, unquestionably, the chromosome. Watson and Crick circled a paper depicting their
DNA twofold helical structure in the trial diary Nature in April of 1953. Another social event at

Are You Okay Research Paper
Today I would like to start by asking, are you okay? Yes, I understand it is a very broad question,
that can literally mean anything. However, today s topic deals with the most common answer to
that question. I m close to 100% certain that when someone asks you, are you okay? your
response is, Yeah, I m fine! Even when you re not fine . Sometimes you go through things that
make you feel everything but okay. It could be a rough patch with a family member or friend, just
bad day, or maybe a major setback. Sometimes, it seems like it s like one thing goes wrong after
another, and another, and another. Sometimes an unexpected change, obstacle, or challenge might
come your way, and you find yourself stressing out, or worrying and not knowing what to do. And,

All of the sudden, you re being plagued with self doubt; and you start to think that you have to
be strong all the time. You begin to think that you re not allowed to cry, or to admit that you re
not okay. Well I m here to tell you that It s okay to NOT be okay! We are all human, and we all
experience heartache, exhaustion, doubt, and many more at one point in our lives. Not
everyone may be able to give you great advice or lend a helping hand in what you may be going
through. However, everyone has the ability to listen, and just hear you out, because many times
that s what you need. You need someone to set your thoughts straight, perhaps someone to relate
to. For those of you who are struggling with mental illness and/or grief, dealing with this
pressure to always seem happy can be even more challenging. Sometimes when you are feeling
down, you put on a mask to hide the darkness that lies behind the smile. It feels as though a cloud
is hanging over your head; and those are the days you push people away the most. Well let me tell
you why you do that; you do that simply because it is easier to try to forget about what is going on

The Detrimental Effects of Anorexia on the Body and Mind
Ana s Limelight Christy Greenleaf, assistant professor of kinesiology, health promotion and
recreation at University of North Texas, stated, Girls and women, in our society are socialized to
value physical appearance and an ultra thin beauty that rarely occurs naturally and to pursue that
ultra thin physique at any cost. Anorexia is the third most common chronic illness among young
women. Furthermore, one in every ten people with anorexia will die from a complication brought
on by the disorder. Although Anorexia is a mental illness, it is most common in teenage females
because it is incited by the media through the fashion industry and pro anorexia websites. Anorexia

Thus, there is a direct link to the rise of Anorexia and the media instills the importance of
appearance into the culture and plants the idea in women s minds that thin is essential. Through
out time, the fashion industry has highlighted an ultra thin physique and has come to play a huge
role in the occurrence of Anorexia. In the 1960 s, models such as Twiggy were the first to be
thin. However, many models remained natural looking. In the 1980 s Amazonian models were
common and the 1990 s brought the heroin chic ito style. Today, models weigh twenty percent
less than they did a few decades ago. In some places, models have been forced to have a BMI of
eighteen, which is still low; however, many places continue to use overly skinny women in
advertisements and fashion.Often, models have developed an eating disorder because it was
seemingly essential to their career. Some models have even starved themselves to death. The
Fashion Industry has had an undeniably great influence on Anorexia. Hollywood actresses are
praised for their diets and workout regimen, advertisers promote diet products, and unnatural
looking actresses. Christy Greenleaf is quoted as saying, Research demonstrates that poor body
image and disordered eating attitudes are associated with internalizing the mediated bodies that
dominate the fashion industry (Schwarz). Thus, the industry is not only producing diet products
but also women willing to go to any length to lose weight. Pro Anorexia websites

The Evolution Of Barbers
Barbers of the past and the future. When we look at designs that we put on ourselves now days,
we mostly think of Louis Vuitton clothes or bags, or those new pair of Jordan s that cost about
$250. However, there are other things that can be classified as designs that we have on our body.
In this case, haircuts. We all cut our hairs, and when we do this, we do not always cut it the
same. There are hundreds of kinds of natural hair and comes with it hundreds of kinds of hair
styles. The thing is, we never think any of haircuts when we get them. We never ask ourselves
about how haircuts started in the first place. How they have evolved or even how they affect us.

definition of A person who cuts hair, especially men s and shaves or trims beards as an
occupation . This is all said and done if we only want to now the CURRENT meaning of barber.

Temperature Analysis Of Temperature During The Summer
Temperature Analysis
The expectations I held when first given this assignment are echoed in the conceptual models
presented in the guidance document: locations situated close to the ocean ought to exhibit cooler
temperatures during the summer months while maintaining slightly warmer temperatures during
the winter and that more inland locations should display slightly higher temperatures within the
summer time but lower temperatures during the winter months. This expectation was largely
influenced by the knowledge I have incurred while living in a coastal area: wind and surf carry
cooler air to the coast during the summer while carrying warmer air to land during the winter. Upon
reviewing the recorded temperatures within the six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As these locations have similar enough latitudes, 27.9 and 28 degrees north respectively, it is
unlikely that the results are skewed. Continuing to follow the notion proposed within the given
conceptual model, the southern stations showed that the inland city of Devil s Garden
experienced substantially colder winters compared to the winter time temperatures seen in
Miami Beach. Encountering an average winter temperature of 51.4 degrees, Devil s Garden is
approximately 12 degrees cooler than Miami Beach s average minimum winter temperature of
63.6. These locations, however, did not exhibit such a large disparity in summer time
temperatures with Devil s Garden s maximum average displayed at approximately 92 degrees
and Miami Beach s maximum average displaying exactly 87 degrees. Upon further investigation,
it appears that the discrepancy in average temperatures between the locations is perhaps caused
by a sizable difference in latitudes with Devil s Garden situated at 38.8 degrees north compared to
Miami Beach situated at 25.8 degrees north. This divergence is the most likely responsible for
Miami Beach s high summer temperatures as areas in lower latitudes often experience warmer
weather in addition to the fact that the beach is located closer to the equator. To compare coastal
stations, it is clear that the second conceptual model is reasonably correct when asserting

Spear Tips In Beringia
When humans first started to ponder how the first people got here they only had one theory. Then
with findings in Cactus hill Virginia that theory along with the scientific community got flipped
on its head. Beringia This theory is the first theory archeologists came up with. The theory states
that people from Siberia traveled a land bridge formed by the Bering Strait. They followed this
land bridge because game frequently migrated on the land bridge so humans followed them. This
may have occurred about 11,500 years ago. The evidence for this theory is archeologists found
spear tips around Clovis New Mexico that matched similar spear tips that where found near the
Bering Strait. Pacific Migration This theory is similar

Aquinas Weaknesses
In Core Questions in Philosophy, Sober describes the first two ways of Aquinas for the existence of
God as a division of causation. In this paper, I will examine the first two arguments of Aquinas,
while each has its weakness, the weaknesses outweigh the strengths. The first argument comes with
the weakness of not being able to survive modern physics. Whereas, the second argument delivers
the weakness of the conclusion not following the proposition. Combined, I believe that both
arguments do not exhibit strengths in their form and verification. Despite both arguments, not
having strengths, they both showcase a combined weakness of the birthday fallacy. Overall, both
arguments have valid and strong weaknesses, but no strengths amongst them.... Show more content

Aquinas s method does not realize that there is exactly one event/motion that sets all chains in the
natural world, he rather shows that there is at least one event/motion. Both arguments share a
common weakness of not showing there is exactly one first cause, but it rather shows that there is at
least one. If we were to show that there is exactly one first cause, this would cause the birthday
fallacy which is invalid. Additionally, I would like to say that there are no strengths exhibiting the
first two arguments of Aquinas. Perhaps, I say this as there are many flaws within both arguments
and the strengths were quite unnoticeable to me, but each line in the argument has flaws, which to
me, concluded that there are no

Feminist Facts About Victim Blaming
Victim Blaming Victim blaming can be defined as a devaluing act where the victim of the said
crime is blamed and held partially responsible for the outcome committed against them (Ben David,
Schneider, 2005). As displayed throughout this paper, from historical times to present day there still
manages to be the idea that the victimplays some kind of role in their sexual assault taking place. In
1980 an important study was done that is still relevant today. Brown s study showed the predictive
validity of feminist theoretical ideas about the nature of rapein America. The results show that many
Americans believed in rape myths with attitudes connected to gender role stereotyping (Burt, 1980).
Individuals in the research were asked questions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For males, it is explained that they are always in the mood and therefore, cannot be sexually
assaulted (Ben David, Schneider, 2005). Another popular topic is victim perception. This is the
understanding that only certain types of people are sexually assaulted, additionally the victims
must have been asking for it in regards to what they were wearing or their profession such as
prostitution. Lastly, another example of victim blame is through fabrication, which is the thought
that the victim must have lied and over reacted as women do (Burt, 1980; Davies, 2012). Through
recent advancements in the feminist movement and recent topics of gender equality, it would be
assumed that the public believes less in rape victims today than they were in recent studies.
Research from 2010 however, has found that women are more likely to be evaluated as genuine
rape victims under certain conditions: they attempted to fight back (and have the battle wounds to
prove it), they did not have a past history with the accused, and they are a respectable, meaning
they are well liked, are an outstanding student and so on (Schuller 2010). People tend to evaluate
female victims as more blameworthy if their attitudes violate the specific traditional gender

Light And Synthesis Essay
Question 1
Light is described to be both as waves and photons. Photons are a mass of electric and magnetic
fields all bundled together to make electromagnetic energy. It s the basic unit that makes up all
light. This electromagnetic energy is what oscillate sin waves and are right angles to one another.
The nature of light also interacts with matter by absorption, reflection, transmission, and emission.
How light interacts with matter in the state of absorption is that the photons deposits energy into the
material, thus increasing thermal energy and causing the material to get warmer. For example how
my hands can feel warmer when there in front of a fire is an interaction of absorption from the fire
emitting a warm feeling of matter. Another... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By rising the temperature in an object, the hotter the object becomes and changes its color
becoming bluer as its temperature rises.
Through reflection, how it structures pigmentary color is for example a mirror on how we
perceive the image. It reflects light components almost equally as the input and reflects the output
light in the same angle from the normal direction of input light. Depending on the mirror or how it
is curved, light waves intersect at a focal point before being imaged, affecting how we perceive the
image.
There is also diffraction that absorbs an amount of energy, and produces a pigmentary color
structure when a light wave passes through a tiny opening such as a slit or aperture. Thus,
making the waves bend around behind the object creating a bright line where the shadow would
ordinarily begin. Some waves bounce back into the path of the light over the original wave
source creating an interference pattern around the edges of an object with a pattern of light and
dark bands. Diffraction absorbs energy in each point on a wave front and can be considered as a

Legalization Of Prostitution In The United States
Prostitution, is an old occupation, where women are employed in selling sex for money. Money,
can be a key component and motivator to why women become prostitutes. Most of the prostitutes
come from low income backgrounds. Prostitution is a well paying occupation for women.
Prostitution provides increasing income for all prostitutes varying from one another. Many places
in United States, except Nevada, banned prostitution. In the late 1800s, women solicited sex from
men for money to earn profits, which has proceeded over the years. Lower class prostitutes look
to sell sex for money to supplement their income. Some start at a young age to come up with ways

Thio, Taylor, Schwartz, there was a recent study, where women from 18 to 64 were asked if they
ever had sex for money. The results concluded that about 6 percent said yes, then the number
translated larger to at least 4.2 million. Many people believe that prostitution is wicked because it
contains sex for money, and considered a sign of social order. Feminists, believe that prostitution
provides a setting in which prostitution is viewed as being robbed, beaten, or raped. The two

Maya Lin Vietnam Veterans Memorial Analysis

sculptures and land art. Her most famous work, the Vietnam Memorial, was chosen in a contest,
and her designs both mesmerized and angered many people. Since them, works and designs she has

Her works are intended to use the natural texture and geology of the space around the monument to

7.When Lin won the competition for the designing of the monument, a lot of sceptics managed to
successfully take apart her design when she unveiled it. Some critics claimed it looked like a scar;
an embarrassment for United States (as it was moving along with the hill it was created on, and
therefore looked hiding), while others saw something that was trying to hide from the spotlight.
Somehow, some critics saw Lin s Chinese heritage as an issue for this design this work (but how
one can make a successful argument for this theory is beyond me). Nonetheless, the project
continued and the monument was erected, along with other sculptures. Lin had to negotiate with
the creators of this work and allow monumental sculptures to be produced. However, she was
worried that these sculptures would take away attention from the monument she designed, so she
negotiated that the two monuments be kept relatively separate (there was also a Women s
Memorial for the work that women conducted during the war). The meaning and appreciation for
this work definitely managed to gain many followers, as this work become more appreciated.

strategies used during battle and the war wars are fought are have constantly changed. Looking

The walls of the chariot, or the box, were generally leather with a lightweight wooden frame.
Within the box were two men, a driver and a warrior. Projecting from the chariot was a long pole
angled upward and attached to a yoke , which was mounted on the horses backs. At first there
were two horses pulling each chariot, it is believed later on the setup was changed to fit four
horses. On the right side of the chariot, the driver s job was to control the horses and to get the
warrior in the best position to make his attacks. His attacks could be made with a bow and arrow,
spear, mace, sword or dagger, however the bow was normally a prime choice for the average
warrior. A typical warrior riding into battle was in full armor and ready to defend his chariot at all
costs. The use of chariots spread very quickly as their effectiveness was easily recognizable. The
Shang of China adopted the concept of chariots and modified them to fit three men. These three
men were made up of a driver, a warrior and his servant whose role was to replenish his arrows and
have weapons ready for his use at all times. In the Chinese culture, the chariots were used as a way
to jump into a new social class as well. Horses were so rare to own and expensive to acquire that

Commonplace Book Report
What I have noticed through most of the entries in my commonplace book (especially the two
stated above) is that I mostly write down something when it induces a negative emotion from me
the quotes that rile me up and make me upset. And usually these are the quotes that remind me of
the hardships faced by women. As a woman, sexism is a prevalent issue in my life, so when I fight
against it, I am fighting for myself. When I came across the first quote, my mind instantaneously
conjured up an image of a mentally exhausted person who was beyond any point of functionality.
Unsurprisingly, the person I visualized was a woman. I ve noticed this pattern of associating
pain and struggle with women is a recurring theme in my life (and is also outlined in the second
quote). I know the first quote was used in the context of the gulag and the agony of its prisoners,
yet for me, it can also be applied to women, especially those who are victims of abuse. I find this
quote raw and emotional. It has come to symbolize women when they are completely broken, even
if this was not the context in which it was written. It shows what they can be tuned into. How in

It captures why we need feminism. No matter how hard we try, it seems like women will never be

the ones that need the jacket when it s cold. And this frustrates me to no end. I want women to
scream and be taken seriously. I want us to be in a position of power and be terrifying, be
something beyond the limitations of our physical beauty. I wrote down both these quotes because
they reminded me of how the world is more favorable towards men. And to me, these quotes are
undeniably connected, if only by a Gossamer thread, by the theme of women in pain despite their

In the beginning of the movie, David didn t think he could do the possible and kept doubting
himself about everything he did. His father was the only person that encouraged him to try out

weak. When David got the kicker position, he still didn t think he was good enough to play with
the rest of the boys. He thought that he wasn t going to make it before he even kicked the ball.
When his father noticed this behavior, he raised both of his hands up straight until David saw
him. This small act of belief in David made him do his best in football. David received a lot of
support from his coaches, and especially his dad. By the end of the movie, David scored a point
for the team that made them win the state championship against the Giants, a team that was twice
their size and never lost a game. This is a great story of personal growth and this is what made him

Landscaping In Painting Industry
Hiring a contractor from another industry that just happens to offer power washing services can
be something you end up regretting. Many painting companies, landscape crews, and do it all
handymen offer power washing services on the side. Power washing is not as simple or easy as
some unethical contractors would like you to believe. The fact is, many surfaces can be easily
damaged by an inexperienced operator such as vinyl siding, wooden decks, and asphalt shingle
roofs. You are much better off to hire a painter for painting services, a landscape company for
landscaping, and obviously a professional power washing contractor for power wash services.

Essay about War of the Worlds by Herbert George (H.G.) Wells
War of the Worlds is a novel written by Herbert George (H.G.) Wells in the year 1898. It is a
story of and alien invasion that takes place in London, England and how humanity as a whole
come together in the toughest possible situation, against the odds, and in the face of adversity, and
still come out victorious despite the countless numbers of dead. Destroyed buildings and
landmarks. And at times loss of hope. In this report, I will be discussing three of the most
important terms of the book: conflict, setting, and motif. The conflict, setting, and motif of War of
the Worlds is: Man vs. Martian, early 20th century London, and Death (as the motif). The first term
I am going to discuss is conflict. Man vs. Martian is the perfect... Show more content on

Throughout the story, the make their way through many towns while running from the invading
Martian attackers. They make their way across England, but eventually end up in London at the
end of the book where the narrator sees that the Martians have died of apparent diseases. The
third and final term I will be examining is motif. The motif I chose was death. Death is certainly
the most obvious and common motifs I believe is represented in this story. Death is literally
everywhere in this book. Starting from chapter one when the civilian is incinerated by the Martian
s blaster, to the giant alien machines that crawl across planet Earth destroying any person or
structure in its path. The main character visits many towns in his attempted escape from the
seemingly inevitable doom that is followed by the invasion. Death has stricken almost every town
he comes across. Whether it be a random body he sees, or a person from the group that travels
with him, the narrator is almost always around death. The only time death can be represented as a
good thing is when the narrator reaches London and sees the Martians lying dead in their defeat
from disease. The result or outcome of the story is that the world tries to return to normal. Citizens
begin to return to their homes, attempting to recapture any type of normality that can be

The First Only Atomic Bomb
The atomic bomb, also known as the atom bomb or fission bomb, a weapon whose explosive
power originates from the fission of atomic nuclei, a reaction in which an atomic nucleus splits
in two. When the nucleus of a heavy atom, such as the element uranium 235, which is what the
atom bomb is made out of, is split, a certain amount of mass disappears and an equivalent amount
of energy is released. This was expressed by the equation E=mc2 (energy = mass times the speed
of light squared). This is the energy that powers an atom bomb. On a pound for pound basis, the U
235 in an atomic bomb can release on the order of one million times as much energy as TNT, a
high explosive. The atomic bomb is the first nuclear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the atom bomb, scientist have discovered how to harness the power of nuclear energy.
Nuclear power plants are far more efficient than traditional power plants. The medical field has also
taken advantage of the atomic bomb. Technology used in the atomic bomb is also used for CAT
scans and chemotherapy.
What Was The Outcome Of The Manhattan Project?
In 1945 the United States covert operation known as The Manhattan Project achieved its goal to
create the first atomic bomb. Since its inception in 1939, scientist had struggled to find a way to
harness the power of fission. Through the combined efforts of many, a test bomb known as Fat
Boy was finally created. On July 16, 1945 in a desert in New Mexico the worlds first nuclear
test, codenamed Trinity, was conducted and ushered in the Atomic Age. The Trinity test success
led to the creation of two more atomic bombs that would be used in WWII. On August 6, 1945
the American B 29 bomber known as the Enola Gay released the first atomic bomb to be used in
warfare. The 9,000 pound bomb nicknamed Little Boy detonated in Hiroshima, Japan. Little Boy s
explosion was catastrophic and resulted in 66 thousand instantaneous deaths. Total vaporization
from the blast measured one half a mile in diameter. Total destruction ranged one mile in diameter
and serious blazes extended as far as three miles in diameter. Three days after the release of Little
Boy a second bomb named Fat Man was released on the town of Nagasaki.

If you walk into a room only to be met with silent stares then there s a good chance they know
something you don t. If your friends seem to shy away from you, it probably means something s
up. Your company is going through a merger After a merger, it s not uncommon for a company
to lay off a few or sometimes massive amounts of employees. That s because mergers generally
take place for the purpose of joining two or more companies to achieve greater efficiencies of
scale and productivity. Back in 2005 when Procter Gamble announced that it would buy Gillette
for $57 billion, 6,000 people were slated to lose their jobs once the company joined. The reason
why, suggests Peter Cappelli, director of Wharton s Center for Human Resources, University of
Pennsylvania is because the investors focus on costs, which generally means cutting workers to
save money. So, if your hearing rumors about mergers, then sit down with your boss and have a
good heart to heart about your future with the company. Going through merger suggests it s time

Eastwood s Sudden Impact Film Analysis
In the first scene of Eastwood s Sudden Impact, the audience is presented with a scene in which
a car is surrounded by thick, dark fog, making the background difficult to make out. If not for the
diegetic sound of the crashing waves a few hundred feet below the edge of the near by precipice,
the audience would have a lack of sense of location. Already, the scene has an ominous feel to it
thanks to the darkness of the scene and the remoteness of the location where nobody is there to
witness what is about to happen, and just like that, the audience knows Eastwood has put
somebody to no good. The scene switches to the likewise dark interior of the car, in which a man

William Munny s best friend, was beaten to death by Little Bill, the sheriff in Big Whiskey, for

powerful he is as he towers over the high angle shot of the powerless Little Bill. Seeing that he s

Examples Of The Villain In The Hobbit
Smaug the Smug Dragon
There are many types of villains; the cunning, the crazy, the prideful and even the heroic villain,
but there is also the standard villain. Smaug the dragon is the antagonist in The Hobbit and he is a
standard villain; a stereotypical one, but even he has some certain traits that differentiate him from
the basic villains. He is terrible, merciless and evil, with only one weakness, isolated in his castle

Villain are mostly portrayed as big and powerful, making them in no need of anyone s help, and
Smaug is so. A vast red golden dragon with a huge coiled tail Smaug was described as, showing

Every action has a reaction. All human beings react to certain situations in certain ways. Little

for their reactions? Do people change personalities when exposed to this? I have tried to learn the
mysteries behind these questions, and brought myself to many conclusions. The explanations of
these questions answers are not short and simple. They are in fact very complex. To sum up the

Men and women walk around with as little amount of clothing on as one desires. Most people

The People s Republic Of China
On October 1, 1949 General Mao Zedong stood upon the steps of the Zhang Zhenshi, and
announced Zhongguo will become the People s Republic of China. This act propelled China into a
closed market, red country. Later on, China would become a closed market country; this would end
in the late 1980 s when China became an open market country. Since then China s economy has
been growing faster than any other economy in the world, and creating relationships with many
countries including the United States. As China continues to boom and increase relations with the
United States, fear in the U.S. has increased as well. The sudden thrust into communismfor the
people China lead to many issues. One of which was noticed right away. One of the largest
problems of communism is the idea that all people make the same amount of money despite
their profession. This lead to unrest of the citizens; riots started to occur, and the demand for
change was high. Along with the communistic ideas, China became cut off from the rest of the
world. Trade was minimal and their economy was closed to the rest of the world. This in itself
lead to tremendous amounts of problems as the population of China kept growing. There was
little food to feed the massive population, or enough goods and supplies. As the 1980 s
approached, and the death of Zedong in 1976, change was needed. In 1986 New China emerged,
the closed market economy opened back up to the world, and China was a time capsule closed

The Central Bank has just advised of that they will be floating a new 20 year bond (GOTT 2031

Total issue size is TTD1 billion.
Suggestion
The Bank s investment portfolio as at December 31, 2010 includes a 20 year gov t fixed rate
bond, coupon 5.875% that has 17 years remaining to maturity. This bond would have been
purchased at a discount which means that the yield to maturity would be more than 5.875%. On
March 09, 2011 the bond had a coupon rate of 6.60% and a market price of $106.92, therefore the
market value of the portfolio would have been improved. Based on a comparison of the
government yield curve, there was an upward trend, which suggests that return on the portfolio
would be increased upon maturity. The new gov t instrument had a coupon rate of 6.80% as at
March 09, 2011 and given the upward rising of the yield curve, it appears that a 20 year tenor
would also give an increased average market yield and therefore has the potential to increase the

The Importance Of Relative Fitness
chosen genotype survives; but this must be the same as the probability that a randomly chosen
individual survives, regardless of information on genotype. Relative fitness. The relative fitness of
a genotype (w) equals to its absolute fitness when get normalized. In the most common
normalization, the absolute fitness of each genotype is divided by the absolute fitness of the
fittest genotype (Barton and Turelli, 1989), such that the fittest genotype has a relative fitness of
one. We can also define a selection coefficient (s), a measure of how much worse the A2 allele is
than A1. Mathematically, w2 = 1 s. Although the definition of relative fitness is simple, the
mathematical relationship between absolute and relative fitness is subtle (Bazykin, 1969; Betzig,
1986 and Beatty, 2008). In particular, there is a curve of diminishing returns between these two
quantities i.e., increasing the absolute fitness of a genotype by some amount has less effect on
relative fitness (compared with the mean relative fitness) than does decreasing the relative fitness
of the genotype by the same amount. The importance of mathematical implication of fitness is
straightforward i.e., when zygotes attempt to mature, selection acts, killing some. Because a
proportion (W1) of A1 individuals and a proportion (W2) of A2 individuals survive, the
proportion of individuals that carry A1 after selection acts is pW1 / (pW1 + qW2) It follows that
selection will increase the frequency of the fit A1

Positive Effects Of Globalisation
Globalisation can be defined as the worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade and
communications integration . (Business Dictionary. (2017). The definition then goes onto discuss
the interconnectedness and interdependent of a society that allows a free transaction of capital
and goods and services through the opening of boarders and uninterrupted movement of labour.
(Business Dictionary. (2017). Globalisation can be seen in all aspects of a modern society and in
the day to day life of individuals, for example, with the advancement of technology we have seen
an increase of global communication with the use of the internet to allow people to connect and
understand different backgrounds and culture. This essay will primarily focus on the way in which
globalisation can affect and make an impact on the economies of small community s and what the
effects it has on the economy on a global scale.
Globalisation can be argued to be the way of the future, the way to connect countries, cultures and
individuals. It is argued that the benefits encourage a less developed country to join in the path of
globalisation is that in theory it is meant to allow for the free movement of labour, this being
beneficial to a country that may be experiencing labour shortages. This can be seen to be effective
in the European Union as they allowed migrants from Eastern Europe to move west to meet with
their labour demand. Another benefit of globalisation could be an increase in competition

Johnny, aka Jack, was a complicated man, who lived a life that was in many ways, larger than
life. He was a tough, intelligent, compassionate, and inarguably fearless man who was incredibly
comfortable in his own skin. He is missed and remembered with a lot of love. Joe Novak had
bigger balls than anyone I have ever known, and those big balls were securely connected to his big
heart. I am still intrigued, to this day, by the harmony, and conflict, between his passion for
knowledge, empathy, and brawn it was a very rare combination of qualities, with the all the raw
emotion and complexity of a classical music composition. Joe essentially conducted pool... Show

Some of his tactics paralleled famed martial artist, Bruce Lee philosophies Be unpredictable,
and, Be like water. However, I think his heydays preceded Lee s popularity. Joe was, by any and
all definitions, a One of a Kind human being. I am proud to have known him and to have been
his friend. I can still hear his grizzly bear voice, and his laughter, in my heart, and in the
unsettled corners of my mind. Sugar Shack Johnny, as he was known in the pool halls of days
gone by, had a rare combination of heart, muscle, and mind. He knew about hard roads and hard
rides, and he loved life. Novak was a fearless tush hog. Even more impressively, Sugar Shack
would not carry a gun, although many of his enemies did carry guns. It is impossible for me to
perceive him as his adversaries did, way back then. He may have been unfairly stereotyped in the
darkness of the countless pool halls he undoubtedly knew inside and out, because he had a
fearless confidence about him, borne of circumstance and an irrepressible will to succeed. But
most remarkably, there was a timeless light that emanated from his charisma. He was not a man
who went looking for trouble, but if trouble came looking for him or someone he loved, I would
always put my money on Joe, even when he was 75 years old. Recently, in spite of his reputation, I
sensed that Joe

Attitudes Between Men And Women
In the election held in 2013, only two WC made it to the parliament, although women made up
more than 53% of the electorate. These two candidates received the highest number of tweets about
the WC before the election.
RQ1: Attitudes according to gender
While the negative tweets outnumbered the positive ones (31% negative versus 21% positive), the
women tweeters expressed significantly more positive attitudes towards WC than the men tweeters
did (X2 = .21, p = 0.01). Women contributed 385 tweets (38% positive, 36% neutral, and 26%
negative), while men contributed 797 tweets (20% positive, 38% neutral, and 42% negative). The
remainder of the relevant tweets were generated by news sites.

The second dominant theme, however, did represent an objective, candidate based acceptance, in
which a tweeter was favorable towards a candidate because of her personal traits and political
skills. The most prevalent subtheme under this theme was the moral traits of the WC, such as being
modest, patriotic, and/or religious. Other tweeters favored WC because of their knowledge and
sagacity. Women tweeters were more interested in showing a positive attitude toward a candidate
because of her looks.
The third positive theme spoke to the political skills of WC as they were evidenced in a previous
parliamentary term or as they were expected to show up after they win election. Satisfaction with
past political performance was a major subtheme of this positive theme. Praise of the
communication skills of these candidates represents another major subtheme. Tweeters, especially
women, placed a special emphasis on the communication skills of the candidates, praising them
for their eloquence, sophistication as speakers, and cogent logic while talking to the media. They
described the speaking style of one WC as making the liver of the listener cooler (a Kuwaiti
colloquial expression connoting a good mood and a positive reaction).
The fourth positive theme was gender based, in which tweeters expressed a positive

The Federal Government Of The United States
The federal government of the United States of America faces lots of challenges through their
operations. American citizens desire to witness several changes that can boost their lives under
different fields of life. It goes without being mentioned that the stiff economic competition on the
market in the current era plays a crucial role in mobilizing the masses to embrace or deter from
several existing issues. Therefore, different governments have to analyze the demands and pleas
of the local common citizens before implementing laws and specific management strategies. It is
essential to note that not all of the implemented strategies might positively affect the lives of the
common citizens. The leadership of a running government can be full self centered people who
might want to discriminate the weak in the society by making laws which favor their operations.
With this in mind, there is always a high probability of rebellion from people at the lower levels
in the society who protest for the stabilization of laws to fit in with their desires and demands. The
purpose of this paper is to highlight how protests from citizens have been part and parcel of politics
in the United Statesof America between the year1900 and 2010.
The United States of America is today a super power nation that controls major activities in the

Articles of confederation Essay
Articles of Confederation vs. Constitution
The Articles of Confederation and the Constitution, although vastly different in their philosophies
of governing the nation, both played a big role in setting the stage for America s economy in the
upcoming nineteenth century. A few years after the Articles of Confederation were drafted many
politicians and economists, such as Alexander Hamilton, began to see problems with the
decentralized form of government that was created by this document. These advocates of a more
centralized government were referred to as federalists, and although they were not in favor of a
dictatorship, like that of England s, they saw the need for a central governing system to reside over

They though that the economic problems of the time were a consequence of excess spending on
behalf of the consumer, and had nothing to do with the government. The anti federalists believed
that the federal system places the economic, and political, responsibilities of the nation in the hands
of a select few. In their opinion, the proposed constitution did little more than facilitate an
oppressive government, and in essence cause America to take a giant step backwards, towards the
oppressive dictatorship they had fought so fiercely to escape.
The Articles of Confederation was created as a result of a young nations distrust for a powerful
centralized government, and because of this distrust the anti federalists were blinded to the
problems that arose under this document. Shay s Rebellion exemplified the manifestation of the
problems of the Article of Confederation. The decentralized government was unable to provide a
stable currency that was backed by gold securities, and as a result of this the paper money that was
issued was extremely weak and under valued. Problems such as this violent mob of farmers, clearly
indicated that the current system was failing and the need for a centralized government was great.

The Problem Of Drug Addicts
Currently, the society is employing a significant amount of money and efforts to deal with the
continuous increasing of drug addicts within their roots. In fact, the drug problem can be
considered by the majority as the greatest problem of the 21th century. Just look, on how it
worsened in the last years. Now, it seems that the range of consumers has expanded, and now is
embracing almost all ages and classes. In fact, the teens are making the drugs seem like a fashion
trend, in which those who do not follow it will be excluded. Considering this fact, and relating it to
the need of the human being to feel accepted by the society or a group, helps to understand why the
number of drugaddicts is increasing.

Considering the criteria cited above, I had two ideas a comic book or a videogame; but, in the

I Previous Solution Surely, because of the severity of the drug problem, several solutions were
extrapolated and implemented in the attempt to deal with it. However, ones were more efficient
than others, but at the same time, none of them represented a real solution for a long time project.
For instance, in the article The War On Drugs ... , written by Ewan Hoyle, which is the founder of
the Liberal Democrats for Drug Policy Reform, there are several solutions to deal with the drug
problem, but each one of them has its constraints (303). One of them, and it was the chosen solution
by the author, included a treatment with diamorphine, which is a pharmaceutical drug that changes
the neurological system and inhibit the desires of the consumer (303). Even though it seems an
extreme measure, the article showed that it carried a high percentage of success on the sample
trials. On the other hand, such measure seems to carry a lot of constraints related to the costs. For
the costs, even Hoyle stated that this treatment was expensive (304). In his attempt, to back up it,
Hoyle stated that the government must do a revision of its policies in a way that facilitate the
market for this medicine (304). Well, the

Art can have several meanings which complicate this claim. Art can be considered work that is
produced by human creative skill and imagination . This definition of art does not fit with what the
passage is trying to achieve. Therefore it is likely that in this context, the author is referring to art
as a skill at doing a specified thing, typically one acquired through practice.
Main Argument and Synopsis
Astrology should be taken more seriously. There are five key reasons that outline the truth of
astrology. First, astrology has been used for over six thousand years and was historically
considered to be more accurate than medical professionals. Several scientific studies have been
conducted to support astrological findings. Several yearly predictions that were made
astrologically have been known to come true with a high success rate. Additionally, astrologers use
a twelve sign system to analyze individual personality traits, one study on these predictions held a
96% accuracy rate. Lastly, some psychologists today have taken to using astrology as a diagnosis
tool and to treat their clients. These clients responded positively to their treatment.
Main conclusion: A great deal of evidence points to the truth of astrology

Anorexia is the third most common chronic illness among young women. Furthermore, one in every ten people with anorexia will die from a complication brought on by the disorder. Thus, there is a direct link to the rise of Anorexia and the media instills the importance of appearance into the culture and plants the idea in women s minds that thin is essential. Through out time, the fashion industry has highlighted an ultra thin physique and has come to play a huge role in the occurrence of Anorexia. In the 1960 s, models such as Twiggy were the first to be thin. However, many models remained natural looking. In the 1980 s Amazonian models were common and the 1990 s brought the heroin chic ito style. Today, models weigh twenty percent less than they did a few decades ago. In some places, models have been forced to have a BMI of eighteen, which is still low; however, many places continue to use overly skinny women in advertisements and fashion.Often, models have developed an eating disorder because it was seemingly essential to their career. Some models have even starved themselves to death. The Fashion Industry has had an undeniably great influence on Anorexia. Hollywood actresses are praised for their diets and workout regimen, advertisers promote diet products, and unnatural looking actresses. Christy Greenleaf is quoted as saying, Research demonstrates that poor body image and disordered eating attitudes are associated with internalizing the mediated bodies that dominate the fashion industry (Schwarz). • 8. Temperature Analysis Of Temperature During The Summer Temperature Analysis The expectations I held when first given this assignment are echoed in the conceptual models presented in the guidance document: locations situated close to the ocean ought to exhibit cooler temperatures during the summer months while maintaining slightly warmer temperatures during the winter and that more inland locations should display slightly higher temperatures within the summer time but lower temperatures during the winter months. This expectation was largely influenced by the knowledge I have incurred while living in a coastal area: wind and surf carry cooler air to the coast during the summer while carrying warmer air to land during the winter. Upon reviewing the recorded temperatures within the six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As these locations have similar enough latitudes, 27.9 and 28 degrees north respectively, it is unlikely that the results are skewed. Continuing to follow the notion proposed within the given conceptual model, the southern stations showed that the inland city of Devil s Garden experienced substantially colder winters compared to the winter time temperatures seen in Miami Beach. Encountering an average winter temperature of 51.4 degrees, Devil s Garden is approximately 12 degrees cooler than Miami Beach s average minimum winter temperature of 63.6. These locations, however, did not exhibit such a large disparity in summer time temperatures with Devil s Garden s maximum average displayed at approximately 92 degrees and Miami Beach s maximum average displaying exactly 87 degrees. Upon further investigation, it appears that the discrepancy in average temperatures between the locations is perhaps caused by a sizable difference in latitudes with Devil s Garden situated at 38.8 degrees north compared to Miami Beach situated at 25.8 degrees north. This divergence is the most likely responsible for Miami Beach s high summer temperatures as areas in lower latitudes often experience warmer weather in addition to the fact that the beach is located closer to the equator. To compare coastal stations, it is clear that the second conceptual model is reasonably correct when asserting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this paper, I will examine the first two arguments of Aquinas, while each has its weakness, the weaknesses outweigh the strengths. The first argument comes with the weakness of not being able to survive modern physics. Whereas, the second argument delivers the weakness of the conclusion not following the proposition. Combined, I believe that both arguments do not exhibit strengths in their form and verification. Despite both arguments, not having strengths, they both showcase a combined weakness of the birthday fallacy. Aquinas s method does not realize that there is exactly one event/motion that sets all chains in the natural world, he rather shows that there is at least one event/motion. If we were to show that there is exactly one first cause, this would cause the birthday fallacy which is invalid. Additionally, I would like to say that there are no strengths exhibiting the first two arguments of Aquinas. Feminist Facts About Victim Blaming Victim Blaming Victim blaming can be defined as a devaluing act where the victim of the said crime is blamed and held partially responsible for the outcome committed against them (Ben David, Schneider, 2005). As displayed throughout this paper, from historical times to present day there still manages to be the idea that the victimplays some kind of role in their sexual assault taking place. In 1980 an important study was done that is still relevant today. Brown s study showed the predictive validity of feminist theoretical ideas about the nature of rapein America. The results show that many Americans believed in rape myths with attitudes connected to gender role stereotyping (Burt, 1980). Individuals in the research were asked questions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For males, it is explained that they are always in the mood and therefore, cannot be sexually assaulted (Ben David, Schneider, 2005). Another popular topic is victim perception. This is the understanding that only certain types of people are sexually assaulted, additionally the victims must have been asking for it in regards to what they were wearing or their profession such as prostitution. Lastly, another example of victim blame is through fabrication, which is the thought that the victim must have lied and over reacted as women do (Burt, 1980; Davies, 2012). Through recent advancements in the feminist movement and recent topics of gender equality, it would be assumed that the public believes less in rape victims today than they were in recent studies. Research from 2010 however, has found that women are more likely to be evaluated as genuine rape victims under certain conditions: they attempted to fight back (and have the battle wounds to prove it), they did not have a past history with the accused, and they are a respectable, meaning they are well liked, are an outstanding student and so on (Schuller 2010). • 14. Light And Synthesis Essay Question 1 Light is described to be both as waves and photons. Photons are a mass of electric and magnetic fields all bundled together to make electromagnetic energy. It s the basic unit that makes up all light. This electromagnetic energy is what oscillate sin waves and are right angles to one another. The nature of light also interacts with matter by absorption, reflection, transmission, and emission. How light interacts with matter in the state of absorption is that the photons deposits energy into the material, thus increasing thermal energy and causing the material to get warmer. For example how my hands can feel warmer when there in front of a fire is an interaction of absorption from the fire emitting a warm feeling of matter. Another... Depending on the mirror or how it is curved, light waves intersect at a focal point before being imaged, affecting how we perceive the image. There is also diffraction that absorbs an amount of energy, and produces a pigmentary color structure when a light wave passes through a tiny opening such as a slit or aperture. Thus, making the waves bend around behind the object creating a bright line where the shadow would ordinarily begin. Some waves bounce back into the path of the light over the original wave source creating an interference pattern around the edges of an object with a pattern of light and dark bands. Some critics claimed it looked like a scar; an embarrassment for United States (as it was moving along with the hill it was created on, and therefore looked hiding), while others saw something that was trying to hide from the spotlight. Somehow, some critics saw Lin s Chinese heritage as an issue for this design this work (but how one can make a successful argument for this theory is beyond me). Nonetheless, the project continued and the monument was erected, along with other sculptures. Lin had to negotiate with the creators of this work and allow monumental sculptures to be produced. And usually these are the quotes that remind me of the hardships faced by women. As a woman, sexism is a prevalent issue in my life, so when I fight against it, I am fighting for myself. When I came across the first quote, my mind instantaneously conjured up an image of a mentally exhausted person who was beyond any point of functionality. Unsurprisingly, the person I visualized was a woman. I ve noticed this pattern of associating pain and struggle with women is a recurring theme in my life (and is also outlined in the second quote). I know the first quote was used in the context of the gulag and the agony of its prisoners, yet for me, it can also be applied to women, especially those who are victims of abuse. • 33. Male Response to the Female Form Essays Male Response to the Female Form Every action has a reaction. All human beings react to certain situations in certain ways. Little children cringe at the sight of brussel sprouts, people cry at sad movies, and everyone laughs at jokes. How do men react when they are brought before the nude female form? What is the basis for their reactions? Do people change personalities when exposed to this? I have tried to learn the mysteries behind these questions, and brought myself to many conclusions. The explanations of these questions answers are not short and simple. They are in fact very complex. To sum up the topic, there is not just one reaction, and this depends on many key factors. The first place of observation was a nudist village in Clearwater, Florida by the name of Paradise Country Club. Men and women walk around with as little amount of clothing on as one desires. Most people walking around are totally nude and people carry on their usual routines like this. The first thing I noticed was that the males had no apparent sexual attraction to the females. Physically the males were relaxed and their penises were not in an erected form. There was no staring, awkward looks or sexual gestures. Everyone who had chosen to be nude was totally comfortable around each other. Dennis Kirkpatrick, a nudist who maintains the rec.nude FAQ s website, claims that #8230;For hundreds of years, people have assumed a connection between nudity and sex after all, the only time many people are nude, other than while bathing, is during sex. Naturists reject this assumption. Nudity does not automatically lead to sex and, incidentally, you can have sex with your clothes on. The two are quite simply not related #8230; One individual who accompanied me too this site, person L, had been here many times and also quite comfortable there. This act propelled China into a closed market, red country. Later on, China would become a closed market country; this would end in the late 1980 s when China became an open market country. Since then China s economy has been growing faster than any other economy in the world, and creating relationships with many countries including the United States. As China continues to boom and increase relations with the United States, fear in the U.S. has increased as well. The sudden thrust into communismfor the people China lead to many issues. One of which was noticed right away. One of the largest problems of communism is the idea that all people make the same amount of money despite their profession. This lead to unrest of the citizens; riots started to occur, and the demand for change was high. Along with the communistic ideas, China became cut off from the rest of the world. Trade was minimal and their economy was closed to the rest of the world. This in itself lead to tremendous amounts of problems as the population of China kept growing. There was little food to feed the massive population, or enough goods and supplies. As the 1980 s approached, and the death of Zedong in 1976, change was needed. • 36. The Importance Of Relative Fitness chosen genotype survives; but this must be the same as the probability that a randomly chosen individual survives, regardless of information on genotype. Relative fitness. The relative fitness of a genotype (w) equals to its absolute fitness when get normalized. In the most common normalization, the absolute fitness of each genotype is divided by the absolute fitness of the fittest genotype (Barton and Turelli, 1989), such that the fittest genotype has a relative fitness of one. We can also define a selection coefficient (s), a measure of how much worse the A2 allele is than A1. Mathematically, w2 = 1 s. Although the definition of relative fitness is simple, the mathematical relationship between absolute and relative fitness is subtle (Bazykin, 1969; Betzig, 1986 and Beatty, 2008). In particular, there is a curve of diminishing returns between these two quantities i.e., increasing the absolute fitness of a genotype by some amount has less effect on relative fitness (compared with the mean relative fitness) than does decreasing the relative fitness of the genotype by the same amount. The importance of mathematical implication of fitness is straightforward i.e., when zygotes attempt to mature, selection acts, killing some. Because a proportion (W1) of A1 individuals and a proportion (W2) of A2 individuals survive, the proportion of individuals that carry A1 after selection acts is pW1 / (pW1 + qW2) It follows that selection will increase the frequency of the fit A1 ... Globalisation can be argued to be the way of the future, the way to connect countries, cultures and individuals. It is argued that the benefits encourage a less developed country to join in the path of globalisation is that in theory it is meant to allow for the free movement of labour, this being beneficial to a country that may be experiencing labour shortages. This can be seen to be effective in the European Union as they allowed migrants from Eastern Europe to move west to meet with their labour demand.
