2. INTRODUCTION
This is a presentation of “Alliance Transport & Logistics" (AT&L), a
private company working in the sphere of transport and logistics
which had continuously problems in the beginning because of stress
at work. It was established in 1998 and registered according to the
Bulgarian Trade Law. The company provides a complete package of
services including: international freight forwarding of full and part
loads, groupage services to /from different European destinations,
shipping brokerage and chartering, container transportation
(FCL/LCL), air freight, railway transport, domestic transport and
distribution, management of public customs bonded warehouses,
customs formalities and representation, warehousing, insurance.
Due to intensity of work, varied clients and sometimes harsh working
conditions conflicts between warehousemen from one side and long-
distance road drivers and part time drivers from other side appeared.
There were conflicts between managers, warehousemen and clients
as well.

3. DESCRIPTION
" AT&L"accepted ceaselessly to work for its clients striving to
increase the quality of the services offered. Its final goal is to put
forward at the dynamic and constantly changing market one
complex service that will be saving clients' time and money thus
making it easy for them to conduct their business. Its ambition was
to public customs bonded warehouses in Sofia and Burgas and
offices in the main Bulgarian towns.
The managers analyzed the current situation selected a few ways
for development: strictly respect the National and European
legislation in all its activities and on all level of staff. They
appreciated that it is heavy work and can be implemented only by
advance technologies for intensification. 1
4. DESCRIPTION
First, the company renew or obtained its certificates according to
standard ISO 9001:2008 Quality management systems, ISO
14001:2004 Environmental management systems and OHSAS
18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety. Simultaneously it
started to open new offices with licensed warehouses in Sofia
and Burgas and e-connection for customs documents is
provided.
" AT&L" adopted Intelligent System for Management in transport
and logistics, which allows:
- Registration and marking of shipments, goods track and tracing
from the warehouse to the final destination, information
exchange and claims;
- Transfer of information inside the company, to/from clients and
subcontractors according to certain protocols;
- Root and drivers working time optimization;
Strict control of staff duties/rights, access and instructions were
initiated.

5. DESCRIPTION
Now in the company:
- All responsibilities of operators and drivers are clear
for both sides and possible obstructions are prevented.
- Only instructed stuff have access to a truck when it is
loading/unloading
- The truck operation is expected, it is loading/unloading
as soon as possible.
- There is a strict control of working time of emploees.
- There is information about situation of any freight any
time (24 h a day, 7 days a week) from any point of the
company by ICT.
-The clients can check any time where their goods are
from their office by Internet connection to the " AT&L"
server.
- Team building meetings are regular organized.
In that way the level of risks and the number of stressful
obstructions were decreased. 1
6. WHAT CAN YOU LEARN FROM THIS CASE STUDY?
The stress prevention in road transport sector is a long process. It ranges
over all the staff involved in transportation like: managers, drivers and
operators. For this reason you should control the risks in the enterprise by:
- good management;
- strict control of working time, duties and rights, access of staff;
- good communications with your colleagues;
- enough training and instructions according to the your National and EU
legislations;
- correct communications with your clients. 1
7. FINAL COMMENTS
Stress at the workplace is a choice. It is
very dangerous in transport and has to
be prevented.
Keep strictly your duties and watch for
your rights at work.
