9. SURFACE MINING
Surface mining is done by removing
(stripping) surface vegetation, dirt,
and if necessary, layers of bedrock in
order to reach buried ore deposits.
10. UNDERGROUNG MINING
Underground mining consists of digging tunnels or shafts into the
earth to reach buried ore deposits, Underground modes of access
include drift, slope, and shaft mining.

largest source of energy for the generation of electricity
worldwide, and is also used for industrial purposes, such as
refining metals.
