ABSTRACT
• The construction of new building represents a significant investment. Translating customer
requirement into engineering terms of new construction design is vital for a construction project
to be successful. Then team collect the customer requirement and building requirements.
Analysing the ‘voice of customer’ used to define the relationship between customer desires and
the product capabilities by conducting customer survey.
• House of quality is a tool within quality function deployment that can provide a means for
a comparison of owner’s project requirements and the proposed design along the identifying
how the design impact meets the customer requirements about building. Then ensure the
technical requirements about the residential buildings are to be carried out by engineer’s survey.
• To provide the solution according to requirement and provisions made by engineers and
architecture, Software program is to be developed which will analyse the requirement data and
provide suitable plans with costing.
• Keywords: HOQ (House of Quality), Customer requirements, Voice of the customer.
INTRODUCTION
House of Quality:
The house of quality process is a component of quality function deployment (QFD). The QFD
method helps you assure quality when you develop products and deliver services. QFD uses
various matrices for this purpose. The first and often most important matrix in QFD is called the
house of quality because it’s shaped like a house with a roof and body. In this matrix, you start by
separating customer needs from technical requirements and evaluating the two factors
independently of each other.
INTRODUCTION
 What does the House of Quality Matrix look like?
OBJECTIVES
1.To streamline of project through literature review.
2.To formulate questionary for survey.
3.To identify to important customer requirements through customer survey.
4.To obtain important provisions of residential bunglow by Engineers/Architect survey.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Name of the Paper & Author: Nuzul Azam Haron and Farah Liyana Mohd Khairudin (2016): “The
application of quality function deployment (QFD) in design phase of industrialized building system
apartment construction project.”
Description of the Paper Importance for our project
 The objectives of this paper were to
determine features of an apartment toward
satisfying the customer’s requirements and
to utilize of QFD technique to improve the
quality of the layout design IBS for an
apartment
 Evaluating and analysing the customers’
requirements.
 Studying the prioritized level of design
solution, which an be used to improve the
quality of the apartment
LITERATURE REVIEW
Name of the Paper & Author: Elizabeth A. Cudney, William L. Gillis (2016): “Quality Function
Deployment Implementation in Construction: A Systematic Literature Review.”
Description of the Paper: Importance for our project:
 This research provides a systematic review
of the application of QFD in the
construction industry.
 Studying the research comparing the use of
these methodologies with QFD in the
construction industry.
 Determining what the customer wants.
These are known as the “what's”.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Name of the Paper & Author: Siamak Bazaati and Davoud Beheshtizadeh (2017):
“Using Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in the Construction Company “
Description of the Paper: Importance for our project:
 The objective of this study is how to use
Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in the
construction industry
 using the data related for a construction
company that is in Iran, as a sample.
 Today the Quality Function Deployment
(QFD) is one of the most popular
techniques that most companies like to
apply it.
 The empirical study presented in this paper
has demonstrated that not only can the
HOQ be used in the sector during the early
stages of the construction process but also
the benefits from using QFD far outweigh
the limitations.
